What prevents someone from living in a house or apartment that they couldn't have afforded pre-covid and having the govt pay for it without any scale of benefits or validation? There's hard working folks out there that were never laid off, never missed a rent or mortgage payment, and live in squalor.

Excaltly, why don't they go after the BANKS to extend the months allotted before foreclosure and or just have an automatic reset to have months that are in default put to the end of the loan instead of going through a modification process, it seems to be counter productive to help renters but not home or property owners!

What gives her the right to tell people what they can/can't do with their own property? I see in the constitution that your property is protected [and effectively insured]. If you are going to mandate a moratorium, you are going to need to provide fair compensation.

The eviction ban was never needed because there are rent assistance programs that would have handled it. The eviction ban just put small landlords in a bad situation if the renter chose to not pay rent anymore.
Government's gotta buy back land somehow. Can't be having too many private land owners now days.
Try applying for one of those rent assistance programs and watch yourself get put on a wait list in a pending approval status for over 6 months. Some sit on the list for years getting no help and are forced to the streets, no matter how hard they worked or how much in taxes they’ve had sucked out of them by the government.

How about instead of an eviction moratorium, do a mortgage moratorium? I'll bet the banks would be happy about that. That fixes the problem for the landlord and the tenant. Although, I'd say that moratoriums should have never been put in place to begin with. Completely illegal to begin with.

I am landlord with one RENTAL HOME! I am a POOR landlord! I'm 82 years old and my rental income IS my only income! I am NOT getting rich and lost my health insurance. This is unfair against TINY landlords like me with ONE house to rent for my retirement fund!!!!!!!!
