I used to live here. (From June 2005 to October 2007). We had a corner store we could walk to, down that bridge that was near the library, but yes, no actual store. We had to catch the bus and go to the Carnival food store that was down E. Lancaster. We did have washer dryer hookups, but the clothes line was good for the people who didnt have the machines.

Late 80’s and 90’s that was a very dangerous area to live.

I'd love to see them completely redo this area for new affordable housing. Since it's land locked, put in a grocery store and other amenities. Build up, make tall buildings to fit more people. Potentially remodel the school to house all the students from this community. I wonder if Fort Worth is willing to have discussions around this.

While editing this video I could imagine exactly what you described! I think that’s a great idea and Fort Worth city organizers are throwing ideas around about what will happen next so i guess we will see- thanks for watching!

A lot of them got relocated to my hometown in Saginaw, TX. They put them in the nicest apartments here (which are constantly trashed now) and crime in the area now exists heavily. It is insane to see my hometown going downhill, slowly but surely. It may look nice here but I doubt it will remain that way for very long, which deeply saddens me.

These projects we weren't " abandoned ", they systematically moved out residents to other locations.

Abandoned more in the sense of the city stopped using the property for housing.

Poor doggy. It’s limping. I know someone that saved a colony of abandoned cats when people left Butler. They moved and didn’t take their cats. Security was a complete butt about her saving them too. She’s a rockstar.

some of the first re-located from Butler was in the early '80s when they built new projects in my neighborhood in far south Fort Worth...within six months of them moving in, the crime rate tripled in our neighborhood (we got robbed twice) and white flight began...today that neighborhood is a dump
