For those of you who need an explanation on how this works: When you rub your elbow in front of a wall, the wall thinks you’re going to practice an elbow drop on it. This makes it so scared that it backs up.
For those who don’t know, this happens because when you rub your elbow, your brain knows you’re rubbing it, but the wall doesn’t know so it backs away from you.
Ok, so here's the explanation: Initially you won't measure the distance between your body and the wall, the free initial position of your body subconsciously forces you to reach the wall even though the actual distance between your body and the wall is not exactly arm's length, so your body will actually lean forward a little, the trick here is that when you're asked to rub your elbow, it makes your body straight and think that to reach the wall you would just stretch your arms forward (assuming that you have reached it before), but it turns out you don't reach it because that is the actual distance between your body and the wall. It's a combination of suggestion and science.
this makes so much sense after I tried it. I was thinking the same thing. When i touched the wall, I was consciously leaning forward. After I rubbed my elbow, I extended my arm forward but didn't touch the wall. I was laughing so hard
Found out why this happens! When you run your elbow, you actually lean back just a little bit because of the force, hence why you cant reach the wall anymore. I tested it and when i stayed completely still my hand could touch the wall again even after rubbing the elbow :3
For those who may be confused, let me clarify: when you rub your elbow, your shoulder shifts backward, moving further away from its original position. to elaborate further, when you first extend your arm, your shoulder is at ease. yet, when you engage in rubbing or rotating your arm, it deviates from its initial state, causing the shoulder to lift and move slightly backward.
For anyone wondering how this works: when you put your hand on the wall your shoulder extends too without you realizing it, however when you put your hand down you don't extend your elbow aswell as your hand therefore your hand doesn't reach the wall. Your welcome. Edit: Holy 1.1k likes?! I have never had even 200 likes thanks that's a lot!
for everyone who doesn’t understand, this is how it works, when your hand is on the wall, your center of gravity is more forward bc your hand is against the wall and you can’t fall forward, but when you take it away you sway more to your heals and your center of gravity is now over your feet not allowing you to fall and when you stick it out again, your center of gravity stays the same, and it gives the false appearance that your hand got shorter
Bro really thinks he is Einstein and tried to say some non sense. The real reason is you just pull back your shoulder. There is no gravity centre that make you go back or some bullshit like that
If anyone is curious on the actual trick behind it; When you naturally put your arm out in front of you, your shoulder is in a relaxed, regular position, but when you buing up your elbow, you put your shoulder back a bit and dont think to put it back to resting before putting your hand back to the wall. Almost everyone can do this trick, but if youre hypermobile or flexible, you might be able to make the gap bigger than most
her shoulder relatively in the same area I looked it up and apparently your arm muscles contract which make the arm slightly shorts until you extend it again which will reset it
@AndreGatling-cf1iu no props are involved. Its genuinley just the movement and rotation of the shoulder joint. I've taught this trick to at least 60 preteens at summer camps, so its something that almost ANYONE can do. No prep, no props, no illusions. Just joints
When you put your hand on the wall, you subconsciously begin leaning on the wall, then when you do some random stuff like rubbing your elbow you won’t lean on the wall. I think.
For those who dont know: When you put your arm out the first time your shoulder is in a rested position, when you rub or swirl you arm it leaves that position and the shoulder raises and moves slightly backwards. Now you know.
This trick works because when there is nothing to lean on in front of you you tend to move a little bit backwards therefore making your hand further away from the wall
@@jordanashley6931when first doing this, you'll notice the initial hand placement has your shoulder extended forward so your hand reaches the wall. After putting it down and rubbing your elbow, it effectively resets your shoulder position and when you extend your arm forward, it's in resting position and not extended at all. Hence you dont touch the wall anymore
How this works: basically when you touch the wall, your torso moves slowly back to reach the wall. When being distracted by rubbing your elbow, your torso now cannot reach the wall and your brain forgot to do it. Very smart.
For those wondering, she first reached out extending her shoulder, by rubbing her elbow, she squared up the the wall. The difference in distance is the extension. Basic body mechanics.
its cuz of the shoulder. When you reach towards the wall the first time, your shoulder is reached forward. When you go to rub your elbow, you contract your shoulder back. And when you go to touch the wall for the second time, you may forget to reach out with your shoulder.
