Describes push notifications from a high-level. Includes overview for sending notifications from your application server and registering a device with a push notification server.
finally, someone that can explain something perfectly, and clearly without making it overly and unnecessarily complicated. much better than seasoned developers with bunch of awards hanging on their wall. nice work.
Hello! Im studying for my exam right now and the explenation from the teacher in our powerpoint slides isn't that clear. So I've found your video and it is SO well explained that I totally get it now. Thank you alot!
Thanks . very clear in top level. Very good for devs who switched from another platform and going to work with push notification at the first time. Thank you
Good video, very clear explanation of push notifications. Did you mention that you had a link of a video explaining how to do this for phonegap build? thanks again
Great.....tutorials.....you said to check your others tutorials.....where are the links? I want more :D.....Thanks for making tutorials, like this......its easy to understand
How does the push notification work? I am just a naive user and not a programmer. Does the device keep polling the APNS every minute (like a Chron job) and fetch any new notifications. I would imagine this kind of approach wastes battery. If not, then how does the apns force or assert its notification upon the device (push). Can that be explained? Thanks!
higer level query: So, if you are building App on iOS you will need your own private Application server to process these tokens right? before sending them to Apple's notification server to have them send to users device. If our own Application server is mandatory then can we use iCloud space to store users data instead of storing it on our private Application/DB server? I want to understand at what level we can use Apple's iCloud space each user has. Thanks in advance.
+Satpal Ramgadia I don't think you're understanding it correctly. It doesn't matter where your token is stored, as long as you have it when you try to send the notification. So if you don't have an application server, you would need some way to know WHEN to send a notification (example, when x happens), where you store the token doesn't matter at all. At least this is how I understood it.
ok, thanks. I wanted to know what hardware we will need if we are building such an app. Meaning if we need a physical server in a data center as an application server who will serve as token server.
Thanks . very clear in top level. Very good for devs who switched from another platform and going to work with push notification at the first time. Thank you

Thanks for your video, really nice information. I was wondering if you tried MonadPlug ad network, it’s the best I’ve seen so far
Thanks very.
I wish you had stated specifically whether the app has to be running on the users cellphone in order to display the notification.
I believe he stated you'll receive the notification if your phone is on or off.
Is this the same if we use push notification application for example Pushetta or Instapush? Is the architecture same ?
Do you have tutorial link or code ? :)) I appreciate if anybody helps me because my problem is "push notification" I dont really start from where :((

Well that was one 3 minutes of quality.
Security? How does it pass this token around? Can it be stolen? What about certs?
I'm guessing this is why they send me a "confirmation" text. Instant token.
I bet you can also explain very clearly. How to stop receiving junk mail and also (JM)spilling into my mail box. Thanks in advance.
geez... how much does a tripod cost?
where is the website???
dont tell me he didnt make this !
Yeah, I'm sorry this video is so hard to watch. It was actually filmed on iPad, so I don't think even a tripod would have helped us. :(
