    Cathy, Can you please discuss CVC for dialysis? When would the patient receive CVC vs AV fistula? Any particular nursing care?
    Does peritoneal dialysis hurts since its going into abdomen? Is there a line to be used? I know this can be done at home via home health but never seen. Is there a preference for which dialysis is given or does it depend on stage of CKD? Thanks!

    Curious, how do you tell the difference in symptoms between transplant rejection and infection?

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Před 2 lety +5

      That's a great question, as they present very similarly! A lot of it will have to do with the function of the organ. So, if the patient is showing signs of infection but the kidney is making an appropriate amount of urine, that is reassuring that it is infection and not rejection. However, if the kidney stops producing urine, we are now concerned for rejection as well. Additionally, we would want to be assessing the surgical site. If it is red, swollen, hot, tender, and showing purulent drainage, we should be very concerned for infection. I hope that helps!
