Ah, I see where the problem is. Being that this is a Canadian cadets video, it was assumed that you are a Canadian. By our standards, your hair must be short. Being that you are from the UK, apparently that standard is different. It all comes down to a misunderstanding.

When in cadets, the only scenarios in which males do not have to cut their hair down to a certain standard are religious ones and cultural ones. Cadets of Muslim faith or of native descent are permitted to let it grow out. Otherwise, you absolutely must cut it.
