Next Husqvarna 701 Supermoto. It's like a DRZ but fun
Son of a bitch man. I really wanted one of these but theyve been hard to find. Now it'll be practically impossible. Thanks guys.
Why not Vitpilen 401?
yo yammie why can't outside us cannot join your give away...
Didn’t even hear them mention the QuickShift. That’s a killer feature that comes standard on these bikes now and is especially great for beginners. No worries about rev matching or hitting your shifts just so. Just roll on and bang through the gears. It’s an epic bike.
It did not come standard on this 2019 model, that is why we did not mention it.
Also I don't recommend quick shifters for beginners. It's important to understand and know the clutch
@@yammienoob I agree riding it raw is such a much better feeling for beginners. My 2016 vstar250 rides like a dream. 1500 miles later still enjoying every ride.
@@yammienoob ahhhh! Okay didn’t catch that it was a 2019
@@emotionalfriend3864 This is a 2020 model for sure. Before it was a different design from 2018.
In France this model has the shifter up and down !
for my fellow shorties, I'm 5'6 and i recently bought a '21 svartpilen and i don't struggle at all with the tall seat height. I did drop the rear suspension down completely so it has very little preload on the shock but I only weigh 130lbs so it doesn't really matter. don't let the seat height scare you!
I am 5'11"but have a short inseam and have never struggled with taller bikes
how much did you lower it?
Im over here "IM 5'4" DO I DO?"
@@squishy_Rio I’m 5’6 with fairly long legs for my height. I sat on one today and hated it.
Thanks I'm 5 8 and interested in this bike but I was a little worried about the seat height.
Updates to this video ….Svartpilen 401 cost $6400 out the door from the dealership not $5600. There is aftermarket parts available for this motorcycle from sprockets to exhaust, and ECU’s, intakes, turn signals, frame protection, rotors, handlebars, etc.
Thanks a ton Yammie! I just got my Svartpilen 401 based on your videos and I LOVE it. I'm an old rider coming back to motorcycles after 10 years
Do you still ride this bike?
I'm turning 60 and want to get back into motorcycles.

How would the exhaust of the Fartpiling 401 sound?
Dude I swear I heard yammie say Fartpilin' at one point in this vid 🤣
In sweden, you often see roadsigns with infart, utfart, avfart, påfart, farthinder and fartkontroll.
As a matter of fact, only two weeks ago i took the avfart in Dingle to get to Smögen.
@@Simon-eh5ez farthinder? nice
I'm mostly a motorcycle newbie researching a first bike for general purpose (running errands, commuting, recreational riding), but know I need an upright (no sport bikes) position for comfort. I keep coming back to the Svartpilen 401. Despite my lack of previous knowledge, I was encouraged that you guys came up with the same comparison list as the spreadsheet I have, although I compared to the $5499 390 Duke instead of the 390 Adventure ($6199). I also had the Suzuki GW250 ($4099) and Honda CB300R ($4949) on my list initially, as they were in a similar price range, but dismissed them as they were significantly less powerful than the others. Jumping to the next larger size for those two manufacturers came at a couple thousand dollar premium ($7000-$9000+).
Hey Yammie! 5 days ago i bought the Svartpilen 250 as my first bike at 24yo. Im having a blast with it, took your word and you were absolutely right! Its perfect.
Also, i already watched like 30 of your videos and have learned a lot. Thank you very much for that.
Greetings from Chile!

I feel like i walked into a dealership and you are a salesperson trying to sell me this "god tier bike"
I think they used the words "entry level" many times in this video...
It looks to me like it would make a great lightweight around town errand runner you could ride on a dirt road if you wanted.

@@fernandojr2172 would be illegal to Not label as advertisemnt so i strongly doubt it
@mrseestar there are many ways around the "advertisement" label while it still being 110% an add. The most obvious of which is that this bike was it was probably given to them with the understanding that it would be a glowing review.
After weeks of researching beginner bikes I finally found one that fits my style. I'm not into Supersport looks or touring, but wao, is a bit rugged with those tires and I can go on my hybrid dort roads, since I'll do mostly freeway, but there's a shortcut at work that is all dirt and I could save 4 miles and 6 minutes by going that route. I just wish the speedometer was bigger.
I've had my Svartpilen since Jan 4, 2020, and love it. I'll be getting a bigger bike but I'll keep this one too. Great bike to cruise around town
Keep it for a year?
I have 26 years riding experience, my fleet has 8 bikes across all types and power, and this is my go-to bike since I bought it. The styling got me interested, the performance has keep me attached.
I put my MT10 up on the lift because this is the one I want to ride the most.
Buy it to learn, but you won't need to upgrade once you do. This is an all-around bike that will be fun for years, even once you're an old veteran.
Kinda agree. 38 years in motorcycling here!
Yep, "Keep it for a year" ain't the best catch phrase for selling a bike.
As you Said . I assume You've experienced IT all in Terms of Power and style in your 8 Bikes .
If someone started on a 401 He would Always Crave Something different . More Power after some time . Even If its Just to know how IT feels to then Go Back to the 401 Power range.
@@DrKampfpudding Actually the Svarpilen is very different kind of a motorcycle. You are not going there for the power. You are going there for something more... the styling, the looks, the design and a host of features that you do not get in most other bikes.
@@KrishnenduKes what features?
I'm located in Colombia and next year I'll get the new Svartpilen 200 as my first bike, so this review came in very handy. Thanks!

I’ve been drooling over one of these for a few years, since they were announced... I did end up getting an SV650 and now I’m drooling for a 701!... hope they make that a twin in the next two years 😍
Love the fact that you do a specific break-down on ergonomics with different riders. I'm 5'8 and I've just ordered mine ;-)
I did also find that helpful, as someone 6'5" there are a lot of 5'4" riders that say the ergos are great!... and they might be, but that scares me as much as it intrigues me. At least we got to see a fellow big guy on there for a hot min.
March 2019 I bought a 2019 svartpilen 401 and it makes me so happy to know Yam approves.
How is maintenance on the bike? And locating parts?
I'm interested. But the only dealers that seem to carry it near me are about 2 hrs away.
Good review until CZcams auto CC wrote "fartpilling". Then it became hilarious 😹

I picked mine up 3/28/2022, 32 degrees that day, it was a great day. I have been working to get my riding chips back and this bike is an awesome tool for the job.
Your enthusiastic videos on the Svart 401 convinced me to buy one. Got it 2 months ago and I absoulutely love it! Im an open minded older dude (61) who wanted something quick and nimble to go along with my Kong sized VTX1800 and the 401 fits the bill perfectly. It reminds me of my old buell xb9, but runs much cooler.....is lighter and more nimble and has many more great features. (also a steal at $5600) The 401 is not only a perfect beginner bike, but its also a great second bike for older more experienced riders. More fun than a barrel of monkeys!
Great scrambler. Love the looks. I wish Husqvarna would make a version as an adventure bike with a 20+ liter fuel tank and a large rear rack.
I appreciate how you showed different sized people on them
I just put 1000Km on my 2020 svartpilen 401 and i am loving it. Only one thing that i changed on it was the mirrors. I am 5'11" 230lbs and there is enough power in this bike for me to have fun all day. ( gas sipping, you can fill it up with spare change)
Just finished the MSF course yesterday and gearing up to get one of these from a dealer in the Dallas area. As of today there are 7 available from the 2 dealers up there. I was "corrected" by the rider rider coach because I was only puting the left foot down and only using 2 fingers for the brake. Both coaches were strictly Harley riders. Why can't instructors be more like Papa Yam?!?!
Happy to get on the road with the 125cc A1-compliant version. Even though I am 5'5, the bike still fits me, and I don't feel like it is too tall for me.
If you turn on auto generated sub titles, this bike is called fart pillow.
because he pronounced the "v" like an "f" instead of "w"
As a Husqvarna 572xp chainsaw owner, I appreciated Yammies's humour in this one! 😂
Yamms, I'm coming back to motorcycles after a long hiatus and much maturity gained. Your videos on the Svartpilen have convinced me to drive 800 miles to pick up the closest new model on a dealers lot.
Your comparison table: I love it. You go straight to the point and give us pure meat, no bones. Perfect. Subscribed.
Bought a ‘23 Svartpilen today. I’ve had at least 10 bikes and ridden numerous others & the “BLACK ARROW” Svart is hands-down the funnest bike I’ve ridden. So damn fun in the dirt!
I bought mine in august last year and beside the small tank i absolutely love it
I was considering the Royal Enfield SCRAM 411, but I was concerned that I would outgrow the HP before my budget recovered enough to upgrade. Now, I'm convinced that this would be a better option.
Great video! I have a 701 Svart and it is a blast! I feel like I did when I first started riding sometime ago. Motorcycling has really changed over the years in terms of bikes do seem largely the same now a days and do not tap into my passion. But this one brings in all back! No lie. It was hard to get only a few around. I can not believe they discontinued this bike does anyone know why?
YYEESSS!!!! Best first 55 seconds of any CZcams video. Put it in Rewind 2020.
I love the 401's they are little rocket-ships, deceptively fast, so light, and flickable!
Husqvarna entered into India recently and launched swartpilen 250 and vitpilen 250. But it hasn't got much attention because it has not got it's marketing right. only known to young lads in tier 1 cities. All the others are prefering RE's. really cool looking bikes

I picked up mine a month ago as my first bike and it’s a dream.
do you still have it?
April 2022; Most certainly, I am enjoying everyone efforts. Thank you.
I want to help others with this little bit: I am a 70 y/o lifer-biker...bought my first Husky brand new for $1700.00 Canadian in Toronto., 9,485 years ago. I have pictures. I believe it was called a 400, deep-burgundy tank with huge chrome circles on either side of tank. As we road through the years our leathers would rub against tank enlarging the chrome circles.
Am I mechanically inclined? No. My buddy Dave Craghill use to always say to me, when I had any trouble on the trails...."Richard, start with simple." He had me up and running in minutes. I can only imagine what fantastic bikes they build today. I would buy one in an instant!
Continued success to everyone!
Stay hydrated out there.
part of me wishes, they'd stick that engine in the RE himalayan.
Now your talking.

So you want a KTM 390 Adventure
@@zesteinl6497 nah... KTM styling is really horrible. and i think Fortnine makes a good point about the 390 having reset foot pegs fucking up the attack geometry. i'll stick to my slow tracker RE
It wont work, that bike isnt a dual sport, that RE engine suits it well for whats its for, not in the west tho i guess.
Yeah, I bought one (UK, 2018, 2nd hand for £3k GBP) but it's still great to see this review and know that this chain saw rules the roads (away from the highways). I would disagree about modding - my decat + BoosterPlug ECU adjust + 3D printed air filter add loads of character to the sound and a bit of performance for not much money = even more fun from the little Hooosquee!!
Tim Parkhouse not good for motorways use then? for say 30 minutes ?
@@ANDY1985UK2011 it's fine on the motorways - I've done a couple of hours of fast riding at a time. It can handle it but it's clearly not going to be nearly as comfortable and smooth as a bigger bike... which is in turn not going to be nearly so fun or nimble. It's all a compromise after all but I think the Svart 401 offers a lot of flexibility for not much sacrifice.
Thanks man, u got the sickest bike on the road man. Always wanted a trusted bike bro to review this compact beast
Easily one of my favorite intro ever on this channel, good job!
Nicely done! I really like the ergonomic review at then end with you three representing three different physicals.
You three should also do a (quick) ride review as rider weight can influence judgment on budget (suspension) bikes.
Keep it up! :)
The way everyone prenounces Husqvarna makes me want to die :( *sad swedish noises*
Huuuuuus. Kvaaaaaaarna.
Det är det där q:et som skickar dem åt helt fel håll...
I died when he listened to how to pronounce it and immediately pronounced it his own way after 😂😂😂
Makes me want to cry. The pronunciation is almost OK when he is at the computer except for putting the q on Huus as if there where two q's. Then they go on saying it wrong...
Now imagine being Italian when they pronounce Ducati names.
I just dropped the deposit on mine today for when the next shipment comes in (stupid COVID). I am upgrading from a Grom. I love the look and how polarizing it is. A quick color wrap and I get an eye catching unique bike to enjoy for several year to come.
The auto cc for this video has just made my year. I have not laughed this hard in so long and I'm so thankful lmfao
Great review. Im thinking of getting going for a 125cc version of this. Moreif i decide to buy from a local dealer, rather than 2nd hand . (I have a limited licence before anyone jumps in)
Love that Yammie is slowly turning the channel from a solo CZcamsr gig to a larger company. Other motorcycle outlets should take notice or get left in the dust.
Just bought a 2021 as my return to riding bike and I love it.

I've had a stihl chainsaw for about 10 years now and it still starts after two pulls. One choke pull then fire it up.
Plus a leaf blower and weed whip, all bought at the same time and all still work perfect with no replacement parts yet.
Good review. If it helps, svartpilen means The Black Arrow and Husqvarna can be pronounced Huskwarna. Husk-warna. :) It's the name of the city where the company originates from.
Looking at this for my first ever bike. Excited to hear it's a good bike! :)
You can catch me riding my Svartpilen 401 around St. Louis!! I love it!!
I haven’t watched Yammie in a couple years so it’s neat to see he got this bookish Lemmy to join him. You know a moto CZcams channel is a big deal by the quality of its Lemmy. 👍
the indoor beanie makes him more believable 🥴💨
Reliability is a big problem with KTM. High compression motors = overheating = electric failure
I have a Duke 390 which is essentially the same bike. I absolutely love it and never get bored of it.
Texas is sprouting more Yammies. Ups on the new editing style, works great.
It's cool, if you take the plastic off. I love futuristic styles, but this look reminds me of bubble font. Needs to be a bit more edgy for my taste, sharpen the lines a bit.
There are plenty of other bikes in this class with that style if you want.
Examples?
@@mattdamon4544 Duke 390
I bought a Svartpilen 401 and I'm very happy with it BUT I still think the best beginner bike is the 390 Duke. The Duke is cheaper, lighter, has a lower seat height, is better in corners, has more ground clearance, currently has more accessories (original and alternative Chinese), and equips the full color TFT display with KTM My Ride (pretty awesome in the 2020 model). I only bought the Husky because of the style and the light offroad capabilities of the Pirellis... and because I already had the Duke

Long time rider here, 66 years old, many bikes. I love my 2020 Svart 401! So fun! Have owned Ducatis, Aprilia, Guzzi, Buell. Twist the piss out of the throttle on a canyon or river road and flick it around. Hoo boy. The rider in this video said it took a while to accelerate. His tach said 6k. He should try the same thing at 8k.
10/10 best intro on any Yam vid ever
Would you recommend this one or the duke 390 ?
I've had both. The Duke is a smarter and even superior buy IMHO for a lot of reasons I already posted, but the Svartpilen has that scrambler look if you are into it and the dual purpose Pirellis. If you can reach the seat, the Husky also has more comfotable/less aggresive ergonomics
Want it but feel like it'd look too small on me. The 701 is a big step up in price too. Choice for me is between these 2 and RE Continental GT 650
Just want to say thanks for this video . I just got my L plates a month and spent ages wondering what bike to get for my first one. I’ve just done over 2000km on my husky and I absolutely adore it, it’s so lightweight and fits me perfectly. The suspension dial ability is amazing and I’ve just been riding the twisties almost everyday. I’m hooked on the disease and am now looking at selling a few project cars so I can buy more bikes😅
Funny enough, it’s 7k Aud and cheaper than almost all of its competitors from Yamaha Honda or Kawasaki
Comparing to what line?
In it's class, the Husky is one of the most expensive.
390 duke is less than 6 grand
Cb500f is less than 7
Yammer hammer has their Mt-03 for 5ish
But when it boils down to it, the way Husky took the 390 platform and transformed it into such a razer sharp ride and elegant bike. It's worth the premium imo.
Also it might be different in the US but here it's about 7 too. Not being combative just generally curious what class of bikes were you comparing it to?
@@s0nicfreek I’m comparing it to 2020 models and their rideaway price in the Aus market.
I am comparing it to its competitors - bikes in the 300-400cc street bike class such as MT03, R3, Ninja 400, Z400, D390, RC390, CB300R, CB500f. I believe only the KTM bikes are cheaper - by $150 at my local dealer
@@Soshi12005 How interesting how different it is on this side of the pond. That's really neat

Same. Lol
I Tried a used 2018 model and I'm metric 1,78 meter tall or short 😊 but I want a tall bike like a dual sport and this bike gave me that feel. Ton of fun and it gave me sense of riding an old school scrambler and even a dual sport, because of the seat and the handlebars and ofcourse the sound. It has the looks of something you could find in a barn from the 40's or 50's or if you put spikes on the body it would look strait out of a Mad Max movie.
I am a returning rider and haven't been riding for many years but this bike felt as easy as riding a mountain bike. It felt great for cruising or commuting and dirt roads maybe not real dirt tracks. The suspension is super nice, excactly what I would like in a bike. I haven't tried a Duke 390 but peolpe say it's hard and set up for race, while the Svartpilen is set up for city riding with pot holes. I am not into that low seat hight is good for beginnners because, that means you have less overview of the traffic ahead. Just learn to have one foot down:)
SO YES best beginner bike, but is it a bike that I would like to have for 5 years? Maybe I would go for SV 650 :) or do as many the MT07 the popular vote😉
I got one of these it's amazing. Best bike ever under 600cc
I’d love to buy one, but KTM reliability and glitches have scared me off. As a new rider, I need to find neutral!
The seat height is a deal breaker for my 5'6".
~5'5" here 😥
I'm definitely going to consider either the svartpilen 701 or the vulcan s 650 when I've passed my test. Unfortunately, I'm just on a Peugeot Tweet 125 scooter riding around the UK on a cbt
Thank you PapaYams. I just officially bought my Svartpilen 401 chainsaw this afternoon. Love the channel homie.
