  • Psalm 102 describes Jerusalem (Zion) in a state of ruin. If this is taken as literal ruin, the psalm may have been written by those in exile who mourned over both their personal and national affliction.
Join Pastor David Guzik as he explains the psalmist's cry from the crisis, praising the LORD who builds up Zion, and the weakness of man and the strength of God.

Even in my trials and tribulations, I know with certainty that he is bigger than all of them.

On Sunday morning I preached Exodus 3:1-10. One of my subpoints was how the burning bush symbolizes the Church. Both are AFFLICTED, yet not consumed, because God is within. Also, God called Moses to his mission from the bush, just as God calls each of us to our mission from within the church (Acts 13:1-4).

Good summary. Seems appropriate that Psalm 103 might follow 102, preaching truth to self to 'bless the Lord oh my Soul' to lift ones crushed spirit.. As you say, Psalm 102 is also used as an argument the Jesus is greater than the angels in Hebrews.
