This is the content I can't live without. Is there anything better than watcihng a makeover of a cheap 2009 Kia Picanto that's only done 1300 miles since new, after a long day at work, eating dinner? I can't eat without content from High Peak Autos. It's my food.
Literally, as I’m typing, I too am eating dinner watching a makeover of a cheap 2009 Kia picanto. It’s what us, as men, live for.
Me to mate
@@scottishfanta
Same I really like his content with cars Its Really Entertaining To Watch
Me too !@@scottishfanta
Same here. They are the perfect length to eat dinner to and never boring :D
It’s mad to think it’s probably only seen a petrol station 4 times if was always filled to the top 🤣
Hahaha yeah exactly
@@HighPeakAutos and for the last few years it’s used more litres of oil per year than petrol 🤦🏽♂️
I'm really curious who buys a brand new car just to drive it so very little. Quite odd.
@@MattExzy Someone with a terminal illness that was living in hope, at least that was the case with my grandmother.
My mother is 85 and can no longer drive, however she keeps her top of the range Audi A1 in the garage in case of emergency. Mileage is very low and it only did around 300 miles in the last year being driven by myself to a garage for an MOT and then to an Audi dealer for a full service. She will hear nothing about selling it which would be the correct course of action. Annual insurance to do 300 miles runs to over £830 per annum. Cost per mile absolutely ridiculous.
'But Mum, we can sell it to the CZcams man and watch him massively overspend on it!'
My 85 year old mother has a 2020 Ford Focus Active, with all the options, and still drives several thousand miles a year. She plays 18 holes of golf twice a week and says she needs to space to fit her clubs and electronic trolley in the boot! 😂
@@QuicknStraightgood for her! 😄
Damn! An 85 year old woman still swinging balls!
Reminds me of a neighbour, she's now 84. She still hobbles around a bit but is still mobile. Up until she was about 82/83 she was walking her dog up the road and back every day and could sometimes walk to the shops and back, not "slowly" either. @@QuicknStraight
Unbelievable Matt ,you made me laugh when you said 'Who gets a car serviced every 20 miles' !!😂
££‘s per mile, having been serviced every year, MOTs, tax, insurance, etc, etc - this has cost the owner a fortune - cheaper to get taxi’s everywhere 😂
Don't forget depreciation
Old person what do you expect with pension money
The little old man that owned it wouldn’t give up their independence probably.
Probably a pensioner or disabled owner who bought the car from a government scheme.
@@Frostyyy__
Not an old person. There's a Starbucks cup.
Just had a customer in today for service/mot, she did a whopping 9 miles in the year, the year previous she managed 3 miles. Absolutely bonkers.
I had an '05 Picanto that replaced a 106. It was bulletproof and felt like a bigger car than it was! I looked like noddy driving it but it was reliable even if not particularly powerful. Amazing to see Kia's evolution over the last 15-20 years.
Horrid little car. I had one as a loan car, the mitsubishi colt is far betterimho
That’s what I call a “time capsule” car, an old car in “as new” condition… I love this type of car! 🚘
Couldn't agree more!
The word "under " 21:58 coming from your mouth a classic moment in High Peak history .well done 🎉
I love little cars like this. What an absolute gem. Near enough like a brand new car.
I picked up a 65 plate Euro 6 Diesel Panda Cross with 14,400 miles in June.... new tyres and brake discs pads all round, Propshaft and lower arms had been replaced, obviously the rubber bushes had perished necessitating their replacement. It's been a great little car so far. Had to buy it thanks to the Mayor of London telling me I was an awful person for previously having a panda 4x4 diesel which being Euro 5 was going to destroy the planet.... The less said about that the better though..... or him anyway.
Ahhh yeah the good ol' ULEZ money making scam tax
Do you mind me asking what you paid for it? Ive the same car but on a 64 plate and mine had 14,000 miles on it when I got it 2 years ago. It's got nearly 37k on it now and I'm thinking of moving it on as Im doing more motorway miles these days.
The 64 plate is going to be worth less being not ULEZ compliant except outside London where you may expect around 7.5k perhaps more depending on history and area. But looking on auto trader will give you a better idea @@benny_mc
I'm guessing you went from a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen? either way, great little cars, rather economical, quite spacious for the size and full of character, quite a shame they forced you to get rid of your 4x4, they can be really good offroaders (same goes for the 4wd cross versions) though I doubt you'll be doing much of that in the london emissions zone, unless its gotten a decent bit more rought since I visited some years ago
65 plate means nothing to international watchers.
What YEAR was the car made?
My mother has a 2006, red, same spec, 22k miles! Full main dealer history. So easy to park, honest little car and hasn’t had a single fault (had to re gas AC). A lot to be said for simple little cars like this. PS, AC and electric front windows all you really need. Another cracking video Matt, can’t hide your enthusiasm for such a rare low miles find! Somebody will have years of cheap, fun and reliable motoring with that!
Don't have PS,AC, or power windows,on my pick up,and don't need them.
I bought an 05 plate Hyundai Getz from an elderly neighbour who gave up driving at 91!
12,000 miles in 16 years! Inside was mint, a few minor marks on the exterior, but most polished out fine, the best bit was the price, just £500 😁
my dad had a getz 2008 but 2yr later subframe cracked due to rot this was 2yrs ago only had 65k
What that means is they have most likely done lots of short journeys, the engine wear per mile on short journeys is much higher than engine wear per mile on longer journeys. A low mileage car doesn't mean it's in good condition.
@@youtube2kwatcherwhen you buy that then 2001 certainty not the past few years
Most reliable car I ever had! Drove it as my first car and we had it in family for years. Apart from regular service, nothing broke on it except speed senzor since new and that was it. What a beast!
Absolutely love your videos Matt, they've become compulsive viewing for me, and I'm not even a petrol head particularly. By far, the majority of comments on here are friendly and positive. Don't be tempted to respond to the keyboard warriors. Remember the adage "never complain, never explain".
Thank you
My father-in-law is 82, and has had a 10-plate Picanto identical (right down to the colour) to this from new. It's done 80k now and has never once failed to proceed. Brilliant little cars that run on fresh air.
Well done Matt. Delighted for you. Great little car for someone. An almost new car. I'm sure new owner will be thrilled with it.
my elderly neighbour bought exactly the same as this new in 2009,it was £5995, but the government did a scrappage scheme, so he got £1000 for his clapped out corsa, then a further £500 off, as his grandson worked at kia,so he paid £4495 for his brand new car!
Impressive
Imagine anything for 6000 now
I've discovered your channel the other day, since I've recently bought a used car, and I've been watching something like 2 to 3 videos a day. I absolutely love this kind of content and you seem to be such a transparent person about the cars you buy (and sell), it makes me want to buy one. Shame I live in Italy, so that is a no go ahahah. Also the British accent is so soothing and relaxing, I've been enjoying watching these videos with a cup of tea by my side in these rainy afternoons. Cheers and best of luck on your business
Congratulations Matt. You did it!. These Kias are great little cars for there price. Cute and reliable. Here in NZ, we only got one variant, back in 2009. It had all the electrics and aircon as standard. Always like to see the wide variety of vehicles that you cover.
Underbudget is a new thing xD
Great cute little goofy car Matt!
Brilliant that it has such low mileage!
Great video and work as always! :D
After watching this and doing my research, I got a 2008 picanto! So nippy and easy to park and is the best little car for my first car! It’s never had any advisories and such a good service history
Love all of your videos
Great video! Well done 👏
I agree, this is effectively a new car for less than 5k, and given the low running costs and ulez friendly credentials that comes with it, this has to be a winner in todays market for you Matt.👍
Really enjoying the channel & the variety of vehicles you show so well done 👍👍👍
These little Kia's are winners. Universally popular as town cars, they are also very reliable, even with lots of miles on them. The Picanto's cousin, the Hyundai i10 is also a popular city car runabout. Same mechanicals etc..... Good to see this one went well!
Definitely right with the i10 father got one new 2018 and done 120,000 miles on it in 4 years
The last MOT tester said, all four tyres are cracking... the bloke said "Well thanks very much 😊!"
Park it next to the Golf, they'll be like low mileage buddies, sitting together for years to come 😉
The picanto will probably sell pretty quickly
The picanto is such an underated car. They just work and super mechanical they feel like your actually in charge of what it does. My dad bought one during covid as a second car and it has been super reliable.
I actually think there is a thing as too few miles for a car. The fact the car had been sitting for such a long time would be a red flag for me.
I agree. Cars need to be driven regularly and not just a spin around the block.
Exactly. Cars like to be driven and engines need to get hot. I dread to think of the amount of corrosion inducing condensation that's been produced inside that engine! 100 odd miles a year is damagingly low in my opinion. I'd rather pick something with 100k over that!
Entropy waits for no one.
I only buy cars with low mileage. Worked well for me. So far. lol
Congratulations Matt nice to turn of the dice into a win these are my favourite videos 😊
Finally a Picanto!! I have the Mk1 as my first and always wondered when Matt would feature one on his channel delighted to see one haha
Only just seen now that both this and mine have an MJ number plate, strange co-incidences going on :)
With that service history and the work Matt has had done, this is a bargain for someone!!! Great video.
Love the car. That will sell very quickly I would imagine.
Thanks 👍
The market for second hand cars at mo is very buoyant I mean £4795 sounds a lot but that what a small car costs these days...this due to not being able to get hold of new cars
I think with some of the silly prices being asked for new cars, people are now thinking harder about buying a good used car that will last a while. This looks ideal as an economical and reliable little town car for someone not too fussy about performance or sporty looks. Something for a grandma to pop up to Sainsburys and Boots to get her prescriptions - or to meet up with friends and relatives locally maybe? My mother had something similar until she stopped driving - I don't think she drove more than 1000 miles each year in it, but it was serviced each year and kept clean in her garage.
Good video nice to see everyday cars on your channel 👍
What a great find and you didn`t quite go over budget!... What worries me though is the fact it`s had a recent main dealer service & MOT and those death trap tyres were not changed/mentioned and even the bonnet hinges were almost seized ?
Yes exactly. Very poor
The v5 reference number can show the mot garage address😂
Hooked, absolutely hooked on your content Matt
Good going mate! Thats a sweet little ride!
That Kia dealer was taking the piss with that servicing - take the customer for uneeded oil/filters etc but let them drive around with shit tires and knackered wipers.
I agree. Anyone with half a brain would
Have advised they spent their oil change money on new tyres and wipers etc
I saw this on your website for sale, knew you had to make a video on it
I once cleaned a rubber bumper MGB with a few hundred miles on it, came out of a collection somewhere. Think it was green. Sold for big bucks at the time. They do exist.
Got a 2013 RAV4 petrol CVT last year with 24k on the clock. Not 1000 miles granted, but it was pretty much as new condition and 10,000 miles later it is running like a dream.
That's an incredible find Matt. A proper unicorn motor, and it seems to have lived a charmed life. I hopenit does well for you Mate. Might make up for some of the previous overspending! 😂
Literally a brand new car 😳 what a great find 👍🏻 one to put a smile on your face Matt😀
Nice job Matt, well done on this one. That's an awesome find with only 1300 odd miles
My father in law has a 66 plate Skoda Yeti with 4800 miles on it still has it serviced at Skoda every year,so yes there out there.
Also he’s 80 soon and thinking of treating himself to a Toyota Yaris so it will maybe be out there in the new year ,I can tell you apart from a good clean this car is as it rolled off the line.
What's a wonderful little find, well done re the restoration...👍
rear wiper is not part of MOT, you don't get one on a van, and they are tested to the same standard, however, when selling a vehicle, it would clearly be 'best practise' to have decent wipers fitted, it is appreciated, that it is only once in a while that you get to underspend though
Nice one matey, welldone 💪
Well done Matt 👏without “massively overspending “ in this video lad! 🎉
Bravo, you finally got a good result Matt....
another awesome video matt and great car find as well. must be a record finding a car with 1300 miles. i know who to come to if i sell my car in the future may feature on your channel one day
Brilliant content 👌
Great success!
We all like a happy ending Matt 😁 no massive overspend, no hidden pitfalls, this made for good upbeat video 👍.
Love cars like this! ❤
Cracking little motor, looks great 👍
I love small low spec underpowered hatchbacks. This is a gem.
Me too. I always buy small budget friendly cars. Ones I've had have been bullet proof, never gone wrong 😁
Hi Matt - very lucky on this one!
The mileage is unbelievable but it can happen. The last owner paranoid with servicing saved you a bit!! Pity though the last MOT missed the crack on the tyres!!
What a great little car in fantastic condition
Great video yet again
Very enjoyable
This is one of those cars that’s so original it needed a set of reg plates with the original dealerships name on not your own, might seem daft but it’s a brand new car and those are the kind of details that matter imo
Great video matt! What an absolute gem. Recently stocked a 2006 Audi A4 with 44k miles and sold it days later for £5950.
People will pay for low mileage!
great video, what an amazing thin g to find
Got A low mileage 06 Honda Civic as a second car a few weeks ago. Love what Matt does
Let me guess, he did not massively overspent on this one :)
Overspend.
To asa and back by the luck of it ,what a little jem of a find and an unsee spend 😳 surely not .Great video matt thanks 😊
Guess you could say you massively underspent😂
I absolutely love stuff like this, keep them coming Matt!
Cracking video Matt, this is deja vu for me. We bought a 2009 Kia Picanto with 18K miles for £2.5K last year for my wife, it had passed the MOT every time, with tyre advisories only. It flies along with 99-octane fuel, and is so much fun to drive, as you actually have to push it hard to keep up with the traffic. Better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. You can park it anywhere and it will never get stolen. Nothing gone wrong (so far). These cars are magic for running costs and so much more reliable than almost anything else, and when things go wrong, cheap to fix. Never believe you could get £4.5K for it, do tell us what you sold it for. PS Radio 4 is on every day. What is the story on the cam belt though? It hasn't done the miles, but it has the age..
MPG?
Don’t bother with the rear light, the customer for this ain’t going to notice a crack.
Tyres were cracked and SO IS THE TIMING BELT!
More content like this please matt!
Matt, you deserve a bit of good luck. What a find!
Finding myself watching a video of a car that I have absolutely zero interest in by itself, but its still somehow very interesting...
Keep up the good work!
Like a little time capsule, great buy. I know a couple of people with Picantos, and they're cracking little cars, just keep running. Whoever buys that will have a reliable little motor for years to come. Great job.
Congrats on the find Matt. Hopefully will sell soon.
I always thought (when the car was on sale) that this was a clever model. Small and cheap. Kinda liked it always. So seing one brand old new ks very cool. My thought is that this is an old person's car that wasn't that able to drive anymore.
Well done Matthew, you definitely scored well on that one...👍🙂👍
" Find another one like this ? " Got to be on the ad. write up for the car. Great result. Hope you don't get a chancer who has watched the video and questions the mark up on the price ! Nice one Matt, top man.
A honest and reliable car saved again nice job
I had an 11 plate Picanto as my first car, it felt like a Rolls Royce compared to driving the equivalent Vauxhall Corsa
These are great cars, I’ve had several Hyundai i10’s over the years, that are mechanically identical to the Picanto, and they are so reliable and cheap to run.
Wow - brilliant! 👌
I have a Kia picanto as the model shown in the video. Its just a silver colour. Its my daily run about car and loving it.Light on fuel and nippy in city driving ❤😊
Another good video. Hopefully enough profit to fix the air sus on that crate you pulled up in🤣
Looking forward to this one. Can't go wrong with a Kia Picanto 👍
I love the Picanto, looks silly and tiny but is like a Tardis when you get in it. Not sure I could live with the tiny 68BHP engine but I believe the new version has a 100bhp Turbo in the top spec version. That in a car that weight only slight more than a lettuce leaf must be serious fun to drive.
60bhp Up!s are fun to drive.
I've got one of the 100bhp turbo Picantos - crackin' little cars.🙂
I drive a lot for work and living in Northern Ireland there's a lot of country roads to navigate. Tractors are less of an issue than getting stuck behind these! Usually driven by someone thats about 106
Youre attention to turning out good cars is admirable, this one will make a great city runaround or 1st car; but disappointed no 'buff' uttered in your unique style 😉👏
Cracking car, bullet proof and cheap motoring, nice find Matt, makes a very nice change seeing a cheap to run car on here 😊
Do you think they’re safe cars? I have one as well 09 plate, but I feel a bit scared on the motorway in case I crash seems like it will just crush like a tin can 😂
Years ago I had a traded in Picanto as a courtesy car for a day. An earlier model than this one but low usage having been mostly attached to a motorhome for a few years.
Of course it was a ridiculous little thing.... but it had the very best manual gearchange I have ever driven. I was amazed. Kia was not a well known brand at the time.
The first time this year i have heard "under budget" from this channel. WELL DONE🤑
Crackin' little car that, with a happy smiley face too. Someone is going to love that little 'sewing machine'
Love the cobwebs under the bonnet!
I love how you manage to the get the high peak air freshener in the LR to face the camera in each video. Now THATS product placement! 😂
The Picanto is a good honest car, my bro had one and never needed any work apart from pads and tyres in 15 years of ownership. 👍🏻
hi mat love these kinds of vids, you should buy a SsangYong either a Rexton or rodius/turismo
I guessed BBC Radio 4 😂 great content Matt as always!
Thanks
Always love how you see cars what they can be. Not as they are. 👌
This should be bought back by Kia and put in a museum
Loved seeing a white Picanto and a top result for once. I have owned a 66 plate white 5 door Kia Picanto Sport 3 spec for the last 2.5 years with 52K now on the clock. I only needed a small car as a daily as I also have a VW T5.1 campervan and this popped up locally with 32K on it for £5,900. I have seen the same spec with my current mileage for around £7K now! You can't lose with these.
I can't tell you how much I love my little car. It is quick yet frugal, sporty yet stealthy. All the 3 spec toys: Kia Sport bodykit, Sat nav, climate, half black / red leather, cruise control, alloys, alu pedals etc etc. Kia give you some great VFM.
I have dodo matted the rear and front pan / arches to reduce road noise and fitted Heka deflectors all round otherwise it's stock and it looks and drives great. ( You may have driven past me at some point Mat as I live in the High Peak! I always recognise the roads & locations...)
Massively underspent !! I think your sale price is a good price. Although it’s a car to be used , with the service history and low mileage it’s one of those park up and on store it cars and in a few years it’ll start to go up in value. It’s the poverty spec disposable cars that are often the ones worth the money.
My Late Dad had one of these. It was great
MOTs in Northern Ireland are in a government place and the waiting times are months if you don't sit on the laptop refreshing and refreshing. They definitely are a lot stricter than in England.
Stick it in a barn for 10 years and then you have a sure-fire winner of the Festival of the Unexceptional right there.
Matt, great video on your low mileage Kia Picanto.
It would be great to take the car on a long round drive trip to Spain. It would be a great selling point.. 😊
What a Great First car for someone! You Lucky Sod.👍👏
