it's such a seemingly small detail but as someone with celiac (with a family that mostly doesn't get it), it's so lovely to see how careful and supportive you are of lo!! gave me the absolute warm fuzzies. i would love to know what the recipe is for the kfc gravy dupe- i miss it like crazy!

I'm so grateful that my mom is a nurse and was willing to adapt recipes. I was diagnosed as celiac in 2020 (as if that year wasn't bad enough!), and miss so many things. I totally feel her pain over not being able to have KFC gravy anymore!
@@mcneca1 My diagnosis was 2020 as well!! Learning to adapt recipes is so challenging, and often just missing the convenience of being able to grab whatever you feel like eating is the worst part. I still get upset over missing goldfish crackers of all things!! But we've got this, I've heard it gets easier with time :)
I was diagnosed with Celiac in 2018 I totally can relate! My family just doesnât get it either and I am having to constantly remind them and walk on egg shells when someone is cooking. So I avoid family dinners that are not hosted by myself. As far as gold fish I have found a similar dupe for them and it is called Make Good Star Puffed Crackers! They are roughly the same size as goldfish and very similar in texture and taste!

As someone who has a complicated relationship with my family it really brings me joy to see your family, both of them, being together. If my future partner doesn't have awesome siblings I don't want it. đ
Cornstarch is an alternative to flour, but the method of making the gravy isn't the same since it won't be started with a roux. Whenever I use cornstarch, I set aside some of the warmed liquid and whisk the cornstarch in so it completely dissolves before adding it back to the saucepan. I've never had any clumps.
I love how you can hear the smile in Chris's voice when he calls Rachel a deviant for biting into a kit kat without breaking it. It makes me laugh every time.

For Lo; The brand schar (bright yellow packaging) makes these amazing honeygrahams that make amazing gluten free smores! That same brand also has maria cookies, digestives and petit beurre cookies that work well for smores too. Best part is that every single thing from schar is 100% gluten free and specifically made for people with Celiacs. It's one of my go to brands as a Celiac.
Also kind of besides the point, but schar just brought out these soft double chocolate cookies that are kind of between a cookie and a brownie and they are so heavenly! I am not pregnant, but I crave these all the time!

Schar gf saltine dupes are phenomenal. I picked some up in Paris not knowing they were gluten free and immediately bought more. They remind me a bit of westminster oyster crackers (maybe schar will make a gf oyster cracker...)

Celiac gravy fan here, the best way to thicken a gluten free gravy is cornstarch slurpees. Make a bouillon of the flavored gravy you want and once warm add the slurpee (cornstorch well mixed with cold water; will prevent the clumping) and mix well on med to high heat. Will get jelly ish after a while if you put too much cornstarch, start small and add more if needed

Celiac since 2018 here--the xanthan gum in the gf flour mix can contribute to clumsiness, in my experience. I like to use straight rice flour for thickening things like gravy :)

I so relate with Lo! I donât have celiac, but I do have a feeding tube and threrefor cannot eat regular food. People constantly feel bad about me not being able to have something or eating in front of me, and often also say that they donât want something if I canât have it, but I want the opposite of that! I enjoy seeing others eat and experience food and hearing them describe it! It helps me to not feel so detached from it all!

For the GF gravy, donât use GF AP Flour. Use cornstarch starch instead (mix a couple TBSP with 1/4 of cold water) combine all the extra ingredients then add the starch slurry to the hot ingredients. Boil. You can add little by little until you reach your desired viscosity. Enjoy!
Oooooh, the sâmore hack is GENIUS!!! I was just diagnosed with cardiacs 3 years ago, so things have been a bit challenging in the food department!

Christopher, try cutting the amount of gluten-free flour in half and substituting in corn starch and add a bit more of chicken stock. I've found it helps with the clumpy-ness. For some reason gf-flour tends to be extra sticky, though I don't know why.

My mums tip lump free g/f gravy: mix the cornflour with *cold* water and make a paste first then make the gravy with it. Starting with cold water is important. đ€·ââïž Mix with a whisk if possible. Enjoy.

Just a tip for gluten free gravy, thicken it with corn starch! Itâs naturally gluten free. Itâll end up clear instead of opaque tho but still taste good!

The squeakier the cheese curds the fresher they are. Iâve used corn starch instead of flour for gluten free gravy.
When I was pregnant, my one craving was cheese crackers with a piece of chocolate microwaved between them, and the other one was spicy chicken wing flavor Lays dipped in honey. Also your makeup is absolutely gorgeous â€

I've found cornstarch is much better for gluten free gravy. It doesn't clump up as much, and it's still very tasty. My husband says to mix the cornstarch with water first to make a "slurry" and then cook at normal.
Bee taking up residence by living in a hive on Rachel's deck was more of a honey of a deal than any of the pregnancy cravings in this video.

I feel like I'm sitting across the table from you all!đ Chris, I don't know what liquid you used in your GF gravy, but was it at least room temperature before you added it to the pan? Even if it's close to room-temp, I suggest microwaving it a little before adding it. That's generally the problem with all gravy--the liquid (e.g., turkey drippings) isn't hot enough going into the flour.

Currently 33 weeks ! Was craving anything sour ! From vinegar to sour patch kids , I read that itâs actually cause your body need more enzymes to digest with the hormones of pregnancy slowing it down đ
