I guess it's worth more, and if a 2dr would be collectable. Problem is, you cannot get parts. Mine has 500,000km on the first engine, 35 miles per gallon in town, and 50mph on the highway. Very reliable. ( Some people just gotta have a shiny car.
if you ever pull a starter off one of these things make sure you put a jack under the transmission and jack it up a little bit because the bolts that hold the starter on also hold the transmission to the mounts so when you pull the starter off the whole transmission and will drop down and you have to Jack the transmission up to line the holes up again so you can put the starter back on. It's a pain. also don't over torque the bolts because whoever had the car before me stripped mine out where it bolts into the mount so I had to get a longer bolt and put a nut on the backside of it.
Sounds disturbingly good.
@BigTideFun Nice man, I hope to upload a video of my VW Jetta 1.6L Turbo Diesel soon.

Yes, what was rusty years ago (when it was parked back in a woodlot), is seized or far gone now. Parts only. But I don't plan to be wasteful.

Aligning the starter/front motor mounts bolt holes is no fun even with a bottle jack under the transmission.
I would have paid a lot more for that engine. They are hard to find
It's 1991.. I have an 87, not a spot of rust, 1.6 L TD I didn't think they were rare
So you guys just plan to use this car for parts?
Actually, I sold the engine later on for $100 CDN.
@BigTideFun lol someone bought my 91 jetta gl for $950 on craigslist :p
that things worth like ...$20 seriously..
if you cant fix it with a hammer its a electrical problem
im a huge diesel fan, i love diesels, but i dont get butt hurt when i tell the truth about a rotted out engine.
poor starter lol
i love diesels, but thats a peice of shit probably seized up engine, with all vital parts either rusted, rotted, or non functioning.
