- This is how to easily make BEST BUTTER Homemade Butter easy in 10 mins!
Growing up I always heard Best Butter and didn’t realise until later years that some of the butter we have now are not the best - they are kinds of butter mixed with oils keeping them spreadable! The Best Butter is homemade and it is easy to make - you can make it in less than 10 mins. If you are lucky enough to get hold of cream and have a way of agitating it to split the buttermilk from the butter it’s simple. I always look for a cream that is reduced and up to the sell-by date - this makes great homemade butter at a fraction of the price of store-bought with an unbelievable taste!

If you don’t have a mixer, buy the butter….cracked me up! Gorgeous butter, nice and simple instructions. Winner.
Here in America, we have what's called heavy cream instead of double cream (at least I haven't seen double cream here), and I make it the same way you do.. and you're absolutely right that homemade butter is better than premade. I make a few pounds of it and shape it into sticks (kind of) and wrap it in parchment paper then place in a freezer bag, wrap that in foil, put in freezer and I can have butter on hand when needed. Frozen butter also good for things like putting a stick inside a turkey or a dish you bake for a large family, etc. I use the whey (liquid) as I would milk and put it in homemade biscuits, pie dough, pastry dough or drink plain with a splash of vanilla added to it. I don't add salt, but I would mix that in after washing your butter and use very little, adding in more as your taste wants. Easier to add more because you can't take it out.
Here in Washington state, it's not easy to find heavy cream without any other additives. Even the organic brands use a lower fat cream and add "stuff" to it to give it a heavier cream mouth-feel. I sure wish we could get british double cream here. Because who wants additives?? Thanks for the video. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for an unadulterated pot of heavy cream. 👍🏻
Spot on, my wife hit upon some final reductions on double cream, reduced from £1.35 to just 14p for 300ml. She phoned me to say "how many do you want?" I told her to fill the trolley. She bought 30 pots.
Good call. Fresh butter and clotted cream - awesome. Or just fresh butter. Best, Rik
Great context Rik. BIG 👍
Oh Rik ( chef ) , this video brings back fond memories of my childhood. I grew up in a small country town called Dunbarton, in the state of New Hampshire on the East coast of the US. We got raw milk from the neighbors down the road and made butter all the time with one of those old hand cranked butter churns. I seriously chucked when you said it was a lot of work. Indeed it was, but so satisfying when you finally got that cream to break. Something that very few young people will ever get to experience and appreciate today. To them, butter is something that you get at the store, not something you make. After churning, a quick rinse and then into a wooden mold to form a block. That butter on homemade bread right out of the oven while still piping hot was just like heaven. We made bread every two weeks or so, and there was always the fight with my father to see who would get the heel off the first loaf to have with that homemade butter. I took a picture of that old churn which still sits in my kitchen, but I don't think I can attach it here to send to you. I will gladly find a way if you ever wish to show folks what the old hand churn looks like. Hope you have a great new year. -- den ( dennis )
Great to hear Den my Auntie had a butter churn and for washing a mangle for wringing out - great times growing up around the old folks and to be honest as kids it was fun turning the handles. Alas as you say the younger end have NO idea how butter is made. All they seem to do is look down at a phone these days and wear their thumbs out typing and playing - the old skills are disappearing in everything. Happy New Year. Best, Rik
Thank you. This is definitely something magical anyone can do with their children of any age.
Hahahaha I thought you were going to say buy a mixer, nice one
You are welcome mate. Best, Rik
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for this great revelation, I do love your channel 🤗🤗
I love your comment - thank you, Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef My pleasure Rik, my mother rest her soul was born in Yorkshire and boy did she love to cook good wholesome food. She taught me everything she knew and for that I will always feel blessed. Keep up your amazing show buddy 🤗🤗
Your face says it all. I'm going to make it. The buttermilk will come in handy for scones.
It does seem to be better than store bought. I've no idea why butter it does. Sorry that just came to me when i was typing. Best, Rik
Dinnae be silly. My Son's getting married next year. I wonder what size I'll be. 🤔
Good Luck. Best, Rik@@lizhannah8412
Looks yummie mmm will try soon can’t wait thanks for sharing
Thank you for commenting Carlos - easy to make! Best, Rik
No mixer buy the butter 😂😂😂😂 I have to say my favourite is salted Welsh butter, that is hard to beat 😊❤
All true! Cor, haven't had that in ages. Best, Rik
I love your channel dude never made my own butter before defo gonna try it love thick butter on my soda farls (yes I'm Irish) and I could use the butter milk and soda bread flour to make pancakes
Thanks Ricky hey I love Potato cakes there is a recipe on the site somewhere and soda bread might not be the same as yours but I love em. Best, Rik
Basically the same farl is Irish meaning quarter potato farl or soda farl both made made into large round cut into four and done on a lightly floured cast iron skillet
Brilliant mate, the price of butter has shot up in Thailand so I will be giving this a go. PS I found the pastry beads on Lazada, it took some time but I got there, thank you. Can this be done with whipping cream?
Yes prices up on a lot of things! Not so cheap. Don't know where you are - Makro here full of Aussie Rhubarb trying to stay ahead of a new store that's opened Go Wholesale owned by Central - as far as the whipping cream haven't tried it to be honest - If you give it a go, let me know mate. Best, Rik
That’s cheating; I used to use a manual hand mixer and a wooden spoon and a lot of elbow grease. Used to take over an hour but it was worth it. Cheers
Ha ha ha I remember those days at one of my Old Aunts when I was a kid - as well as ringing out the washing through an old mangle - memories mate. Best, Rik
