These boys should of been massive, damn they kicked supreme ass. A very tight band, very skilled musicians...great songwriting/vocals...great sense of humor, and they looked great. And the guy w/the 2 sting bass kills me, lol.
Sadly Danish bands tend to not be very huge in other countries, they can get known by some songs etc, as D-A-D did, but generally Danish bands do not get big recognition in other countries, it's incredible how Volbeat has gotten the success they got. [Verse 1]
Mumbling good morning and raising my head
A bad-breath kiss to my pillow pet
Takes a look at the day and turns and stay in bed
Open my eyes when the day have died
I turned the world and I slept all right
Now my daymare is over, I zip my jeans tight
Oh, Lord, won't you bless this night?
[Chorus]
From the pale lips of a youth who lay
I'm sleeping my day away
And when the night comes to the city, I say:
I'm sleeping my day away
Yeah, with my pale lips in the pillow, I say:
I'm sleeping my day away
After dark is the game I play
I'm sleeping my day, I'm sleeping my day away
[Verse 2]
When my dreams begin, I'll be proud to be letting you in
With a smile on my face, I guide our dreamboat in
So if you wanna travel along with me
You better sleep tight the rest of the day
You see, I could be a sleeper, it's not rest I lack
'Cause I hit the sack when the sun's coming back
[Chorus]
From the pale lips of a youth who lay
I'm sleeping my day away
When the night comes to the city, I say:
I'm sleeping my day away
Yeah, with my pale lips in the pillow, I say:
I'm sleeping my day away
That after dark is the game I play
I'm sleeping my day, I'm sleeping my day
I'm sleeping my day away
[Bridge]
I'm sleeping my day, I'm sleeping my day
I'm sleeping my day away
[Chorus]
I'm sleeping my day away
Yeah, now I've turned the world around
Yeah, I did it again
I'm sleeping my day away
And now I have to wear my shades down Sleeper's Lane
I'm sleeping my day away
Yeah, all the good people have gone to bed again
I'm sleeping my day away
Because the devil's at work inside my brain
I'm sleeping my day away
I'm sleeping my day...

I remember when this came out I was a teenager and the song still holds up today 30yrs later
What a top tune, stands the test of time, great band. Jesper is a top vocalists.
it's with musicians like this that makes me proud to be danish and NO IT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU EAT
Jep det har du helt ret i :-)
men det er med politikere som thorning der gør mig irritreret
i qoute lol
kundu989 dane and proud right?
i qoute du lyder som dansk folkeparti typen :-(
First concert i ever saw with these guys was in Accra, Ghana 2002. 2022, still rocking!
Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen this since the end of 1989.
Love that two-strings bass!!
Petty Maids got pretty successfull I think it was Japan too.
Great band but they weren't highly skilled, they had a very basic level of musicianship.
@@paulmusgrave1432 I don't care about skilled musicianship, fu_k bands like dream theatre or rush. These fellas wrote great songs...same w/bands like the ramones/green day/the clash, etc. Most music comprised of Berklee/MI/Julliard grads...stinks. I attended MI, graduated w/vocation honors...biggest regret of my life, it took me yrs to unlearn the bullshit that place pounded into my head.
we were sitting at a friend's today and just listening to music..... then it popped up.
DAD after 30 years, it just pops up in a playlist from our buddy. I'm still excited. I've been looking for this for 30 years. I'm young again 😆
Another underrated phenomenal band that never got the credit or attention they deserve. Like Dirty Looks and others. I was listening to this when I was a long haired teen back in the late 80's. Still AM and they've out survived my hair. D.A.D.4EVER!!!
hearing this song live has been one of my life's best moments
ICONIC song! I'm Judas Priest fаn, but these guys touched my metal heart. There is so much melody in the song. I have got this single as plastic bonus in Metal Hammer magazine long time ago and since then .... I love them
xactly where i heared it 1st..awesome...not sure tho if it was pre- europe ´s final countdown or slightly later.. same year i discovered JP with Turbolover
Every single one of these men are attractive
Listening in 2021
It's nice finding a new-old band!
Killer Dwarfs play'd this on their i-station. 2020 and 1st time I've heard! 👏
Heard this music in Rock In Rio 2022 Portugal, Superb!
É pena não passar mais vezes nas rádios portuguesas 😢. São top
A two string bassist and a sense of humour - what more do you need? Brilliant!
I'm not the only one who noticed that bass then. Looks like a Frankenstein job...a left-handed Fender Jaguar body (or similar) with a super-skinny neck. Kinda like Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat, but a bass.
Nothing, really
@@phantomechelon3628 A cool base for sure
.... he's got a two string bass and a one track mind.... 🤘
He had an amazing collection of instruments, using a different one almost every song. Very entertaining
Still a GREAT song! After all these years.
Thank you Denmark
..greetings from Finland:)
2021 everybody ! LOUDLY listen here ! Denmark is proud of D-A-D !
I am in US and been listening to them since the early 90's. Thank my grandmother, bedste from Danmark for sending me the album when I was a young teenager. Wish they had more to listen to..

Dad er the Best Danish band
@@jansproge7766 My lad har du hørt om Kashmir?
@@Tjalmann ...and still releasing new music!
I saw them in Malmö, 1989 before the hype and still think they are one of the best band ever. Disneyland after Dark. 🤗💕
30 years later and it is still great!
-- STILL one of my FAVS from way back when !! --
my God, I forgot how much I loved this song. DAD rocked man. they weren't hair metal, they were alternative, up there with Drivin N Cryin they should have been bigger than they were in the US.
The best kept Scandinavian secret...... Im watching this in 2017 and grinning about the stunning musicianship
Fun fact: They once played a hockey game for charity against Leningrad Cowboys :)
Don’t forget Gasolin’ the first and biggest danish rock band.
You can keep the secret 🤣😂🤣
Im 51 now i remember the day they hit our local METAL station KNAC 105.5 in SO CAL. this is STILL one of my all time favorites🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Tillykke med de 40 år til de danske drenge!!!
i cant get enough of this masterpiece
