Day in the Life of a Pharmacy Student | Lab Edition | Pharmacy School Vlog 💊

- I just realized that I haven’t uploaded pharmacy content in over a month so I pulled this one from my archives lol. We had labs back in March and I really enjoyed the hands on experience! I still have not met my entire class because they had us split into group A and B for social distancing and lab size.
Let me know if there are any specific pharmacy videos that you would like to see!

Now it may sound silly, but I didn’t know y’all learned how to do all of this. I thought you all only know the combinations, but this makes sense. Just little scientists huh? Your classmates & professor are team players; they enjoyed being a part of it. ❤️
Yes it helps us understand the chemical structure and interactions of the drugs! Thank you for watching. He’s one of my fav professors
I dont know about you in the us but we in germany sometimes still have to make capsules tablets, suppositories ourselves for certain patients
✨🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 that's so beautiful omg kinda brings back memories from pharmacy technician school when i was in it
The only major difference is the jackets apart of protective gear like we had the shower caps, the gloves and power blue scrubs and a white lap coat 💕💕💕💕✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

As a pre med who loves chemistry I was really interested to how much chemistry we do after undergrad I like that you're showing this it's hard to find videos like these
Yayyyyy!! I've always liked the labs more than the lectures in undergrad so I was happy to share this fun part of pharmacy school. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome video this reminds me of my dispensary class
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s crazy I’ve been trying for nursing school for the longest but everything just keeps getting in the way of me being accepted and only recently my mom helped me to realize that nursing is not even the profession I really want to be in idek why I was dreading being a nurse either but with doing research I came across pharmacy and this right here is right up my alley 😩😩😩😩it’s crazy I’ve been beating up myself for so long . But as they say God ALWAYS has a reason behind everything and s plan 🙌🏽🙏🏾
That's awesome that you received a redirection. I hope the pharmacy field works out for you :)
I love the school videos ☺️

Thank you 🥰
what year do you start applying the creation of meds?
Im a 1PD and I loved this video. I can't wait to gear up and work with a mortar and pestle.
thank you for watching. good luck on your journey. labs are the coolest
6:18 min mark. When drawing up medication from an ampule you MUST use a FILTER needle. If you don't there can be GLASS in the medication.
Yes, I am aware but supplies were low during our lab portion. Thankfully, labs are just for practice and everything is discarded immediately after. NO patients were harmed in the making of this video 😇 Thanks for sharing
This was really cool
Thank youuu
Ooo a first look 😀
A little bts
Wow amazing!!
Thank youuu
@@dacorsha Plz show some support.. 🙂🙂
Thanks for sharing this is sups cool!
Thank youu
Making the capsules seems very time consuming. I think it neat making medicine. Do you only do it in the lab?
There is a plate similar to the tablet one for 100 💊 at a time! I witnessed the pharmacist at my independent rotation make creams, gels, capsules, suspensions etc for patients so it can be done on a daily basis depending on the pharmacy
Can u upload a video of filling presentation please
Good job keep doing this and uploading videos soon
Thank you ☺️
One I love how transparent you are and look to you as inspiration. I am a pharmacy technician in the Army and I wanted to get a refresher on the top 200 drugs. Do you know if all schools teach the same 200 drugs?
Awww I’m so happy you can relate! Top 200 is very important and necessary if you want to become a pharmacist bc there are tons of drug outside of the top 200 but those are most common! They are typically universal
@@dacorsha perfect thank you. Im going to restudy them to get a refresher
@@jhh9291 no problem 😉
omg this looks so fun!! is this what pharmacists do or pharmacy techs or what?
It so much fun and educational at the same time! Some pharmacy techs compound others do not and the same goes for pharmacists! It really just depends what setting they work in. Hospital has a lot of IV preparation. Small independent retail and compound pharmacies make creams, ointments, capsules etc but again not all!
How do you feel about the current job outlook for pharmacists? It is projected to have to decline by 3% over the next 10 years. Too many pharmacists graduating, not enough jobs available because independent retail pharmacies are getting automated away. Thoughts?
THERE ARE JOBS… look on any job seeking websites and apps. Retail isn’t the only setting in pharmacy. People should educate themselves on whatever field they are interested in. I think everyone should do what they feel is best for them without pressure from others swaying them one way or another.
So when you order prescriptions from Walgreens or cvs the pharmacist there makes it? Now i want to know watching u guys make lozenges, suppositorys and all
No, most big chain pharmacies have suppliers that ship bulk bottles of the meds. Some liquid antibiotics are reconstituted but they typically just add water bc it already comes ready. The big chains are too busy to make things from scratch. Small independent pharmacies have time to do so and it’s more cost effective for them as well so it just depends. Most compounding has to take place in a lab for sterile reasons so that’s another factor
@@dacorsha oh wow
I start EE1 pharmacy school this fall at ole miss!
That’s awesome, congratulations 🎉 and best of luck to you
Filter needle REQUIRED for this preparation.
or a filter straw* 😉
This looks like a very awesome Job to be in
Thank you, it is definitely always interesting
Hello. I really enjoyed the vlog!
I have a question; on a scale of 1-10 how hard is pharmacy?
What is the minimum requirement mark for chemistry to enter pharmacy school? Thanks
Hi, I am happy you enjoyed. I would rate it an overall 7.5. There are times it's a breeze and others when I am super mentally exhausted with the school load. The good thing for me at least is that it is not consistently a struggle. Some disease states are harder than others and some professors are worse than others. These factors contribute to your load, not including work, social life and family. '
Your chemistry requirement will be dependent on what college you apply too. Some require a C+ others prefer at least a C-. Basics are general chemistry I and II, organic chemistry I and II (all four must include the lab). Certain schools require biochemistry so do your research before you apply. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Here's my email if they are personal. dacorsha.sutton@gmail.com
@@dacorsha thank you for the information
But i remember lozenges and tablets and suppositories but emulsions? Not at all like only milk ir ice cream but medically thats such a wild concept. But the technician is under a pharmacist but idk if it was in the notes or not, emulsions... Because when my brain applies it i view capsules as emulsion in a way because its a substance wothin a substance amd one is soluble... But ig the capsules are also uuh soluble but the material is different idk lol
I don't correlate capsules and emulsions at all lol emulsions are parts oil and water.
I have a question . Which subjects are mostly important to become pharmacist .?
Cause from my side im quite more interested in chemistry
There is a lot of chemistry in pre-pharmacy for pre-req but once you are accepted there isn’t as much chemistry. Pharmacology is very important in pharmacy school
🙌🏾👏🏾
😊
I am impressed👍
there is future!
the future is bright
