I got an 80 elcamino 3.8 3 on the floor any advice on what I need to put my 5.7 tbi in it happy new years
My dad just gave me his 1979 el camino. I have to get it running and then I'll have a project! Complete amateur but i'm excited for the challenge. Your videos are going to be so helpful!! It's already had an engine swap, thankfully!
Thatâs awesome!! Thanks man!! Lucky you! Weâre getting around to swapping out some more v6 parts to v8 parts like the front springs đ probably our toughest episode yet but itâll be fun to look back at the dumb stuff we did đ€Łđ keep us in the loop about getting it running! Would love to help the best we can đ
WOW, once that fan shroud was removed, looked like plenty of room for either the Chevy SBC or a BBC.
Right! Enough room for twin turbos!!!
Doing a similar swap. Pulling the original v6 and putting a 5.7 vortec in an 82 Malibu.
Nice! We have a Vortec but not the budget to swap it yet lols
Very helpful bc im doing the same thing to my 1980 elCo with a 229 v6
Awesome! Let us know if you have any questions! We have a video coming out today on swapping the engine mounts đšđ»âđ§
Thanks. Iâm probably gonna rebuild my v6 so Iâll have the factory motor working again
@@panheadforever9728 gotcha! We are dropping a V8 in ours so itâll be a little different put a lot easier putting the original engine in đđ€Ł
Yea due to budget issues, Iâm gonna fix whatâs left of it
Awesome I have g body Malibu â€â€â€same as 229 I wanna swap to the v8 probably LS though â€â€â€
Nice!!! We just swapped for a 350 SBC - W ish I had an LS for itâŠ
What radiator and fan set up did you end up getting im in the process of swapping out my v6 for a v8 350 i would like a link if possible I could not find any that would fit in my el Camino they were to big so any info would be appreciated thanks
What year is it??
Here is the fan setup we used - American Volt Duel Fan Kit - amzn.to/3MHDXxd
Here is the rad we used - Check out this page from Summit Racing www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-384002
Here is a video of the install of all of it đ
We made some brackets out of aluminum and used the original grommets. Not the prettiest but works great! Give the video a watch if itâs something you want to do before ordering the parts đđ»
How to Install an Aluminum Radiator and Wire a Dual Fan Relay | The Meano Camino

I have a 81 Caballero V6 3.8L and would you happen to know how can I find the oil pressure sensor, engine temp sensor and tach? What areas of the motor do I need to look? Itâs not showing up on PRODEMAND.
Oil pressure sensor should be on the. All of the block by the distributor, I think the temp sensor is on the passenger side of the block - we added a new one to the intake manifold for our electric fans and fan relay. The tach should be a wire that is coming out of your wire harness in the engine compartment back along the firewall. I do think they came stock with a tac connected so Iâd you want to see your RPMs you may have to install a new gauge and connect the wiring to the distributor. Let me know if that helps đ
@@theroygarage ok thank you Iâll be out there this weekend trying to hunt them down so I can label them for my LS swap.
@@papergatorzfedducca7998 are you using a distributed LS? Or ECU with the electronic ignition system? For that ECU I donât think you use the tack wire. With my dadâs engine swap he just put new sensors on the clock and wired in new gauges. So if you canât find them donât worry about it too much.
@@theroygarage yes Iâm using the LS computer. This is my first swap so Iâm labeling what I think I might need for the swap before I start disconnecting wires.
