  • The plastic bushing just had to go!
    I replace the shackle plates, pins and bushings with MORryde parts that will last for much longer.

    Putting the bronze bushings in the freezer overnight will cause them to shrink just a very small bit but i found that they slide right in the holes with little effort. I also installed 3 of the Morryde X-factor cross braces.

    Nice video. Thanksgiving is coming up, and this video made me thankful to have access to cordless impacts and an air hammer. Seriously, nice job, and it was cool to show it could be done with minimal tools.

    I look forward to changing ours to the wet bolt system as well. Your video is very informative and was glad you explained that putting bolts from inside or out is choice. I agree one side at a time keep it safe.

    I'd weld some end plates on those shackle hangers if i was you. Stiffen them up and make it more durable. Did it with mine with just a flux core welder. Seen more than one person have those snap

      Yes great point, was thinking the same when I saw them. The new shackles thicker than hangers, what does that say for itself 👍

    Great job! You make it look easy.
    We also have a 22MLE and enjoy your upgrades but haven’t done much to my trailer yet. My next project is installing a fantastic fan.

      We upgraded our kitchen fan too and are glad we did.
      The joy of edited video makes everything look easier. Lol. It wasn't a difficult job, but it took some time and effort.

    Just started our project on the 22MLE. ~10K miles on it. Not replacing the equalizer either. 1st nut (driver side front) is seized on and refuses to budge, even with the massive pipe wrench and lots of Blast. Going to install the rest of the wet bolts (both sides) grease the bearings and then take it over to a friend who welds and see if he can heat up the nut and remove it. So frustrating!

    FYI
    I installed the same wetbolt kit on my trailer 15 months ago. I had a spring shop install the kit, when they installed the 4 new springs. They greased the 14 zerks too. Now, I cannot get grease to go into 3 zerks. I used a torch to heat them up. One worked, 2 did not. I'm going back to the spring shop to have them inspected.

      @rvingitup  Před rokem

      I wonder if the cross-drilled holes may have been oriented incorrectly? That can sometimes prevent grease from flowing through onto the bearing.

      I have to suspend all of my tires off the ground in order for most of my grease fitting to take grease. My grease holes may not be at 3 or 9oclock as everything is stock.

    Can you share the part number for this wet-bolt kit?

    One more question: would installing a suspension equalizer do the same thing?

    • @rvingitup
      @rvingitup  Před rokem +2

      No.
      The equalizer is just the rocking member between leaf springs..
      Our goal was to have lubricated bushings.

  • @bretmusser5468
    @bretmusser5468 Před rokem +1

    Since you had it all apart, you didn't want to replace the equalizer (e.g. with the CRE3000)?

    • @rvingitup
      @rvingitup  Před rokem +1

      The only advantage was 1" more of travel and that didn't seem worth the cost to us.

    • @waltfriedrich7631

  • @ericstoner8635
    @ericstoner8635 Před 3 měsíci +1

    After going through the effort of installing wet bolts, why on earth did you not upgrade the equalizer for a softer ride on everything sitting above the tires? Seems silly not to invest the $195 for the MORryde CRE3000. But to each their own I guess.

    • @rvingitup
      @rvingitup  Před 3 měsíci

      Adding one more inch of travel didn't interest me. It was all about the wet bolts.

      We are doing the same, just the wet bolts- don't want to grind the hanger as MORryde advises.
