  • This simple adjustment to how you swim a Texas-rigged worm will change how you fish it forever. A swimming worm draws the curiosity of a lot of bass and this will get them to commit to biting it instead of swimming away.

    These are the types of techniques that I really go for! They are so natural and what those bass are accustomed to seeing that it can be hard for them to get conditioned to, like they would a crankbait or jerkbait, with all the noise and rattles. Bass learn very quickly and the longer we can use a presentation before they get wise to it is always a bonus!

      Those fish so often are way smarter than I am. Lol. At least their instincts are much more finely honed than mine are.

    Great with a swim jig/spinnerbait/lipless/swimbait/bladed jig and even a buzzbait sometimes also!

    Couldn't agree more. A quick change of direction is definitely a trigger. I always fish this way unless it's a slow drag only kinda day. Even then I still try to crash. Like you've previously said, popping a hang up loose can provoke a reaction. Same basic idea here.

      It sure is a lot of fun to give that worm a hard crash and then feel the road load up. Never gets old!

    That is a great tip Steve. I never thought about doing that sort of retrieve with a Texas rig. I do that kind of retrieve with soft swimbaits and it gets me a lot of bites. I will have to try this next time I'm out.

    I throw ZOOM speed worms I'm going to try that technique. Should I peg the sinker?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Pegging the sinker will make for a faster drop, so I like to peg it most often. Great question!

    What brand is the swimming worm with the kicking tail? I use 13 Fishing and Stanford Baits - never saw the one in the video before.
