Cale Makar has already accomplished so much in his career and he is just about to enter his prime now. Makar has already won a Stanley Cup, a Conn Smythe, and a Norris. This season, I predict he is going to get over 100 points. To be able to dominate in this era of the NHL as a defenceman is absolutely incredible. This is why I think that Cale Makar could become the best defenceman of all time. He is the most complete 2 way defenceman ever.

I was so pissed as an Avalanche fan in 2017 when we fell to 4th place in the draft. Little did I know at the time that it would be the biggest blessing in disguise. I felt like we won this draft, and it hasn't even been 10 years yet.

@@MaiettaSportsMedia as far as I can tell there are only two things that can stop him. One, injury. Two, his conservative play, which he has. Not many talk about that but you can see him pull back occasionally. Not sure why he does that but I've noticed it since his rookie season. It kind of drives me crazy. Lol. Not sure he wants to be the greatest. Odd as that sounds.

Makar has more points per game than Orr did in as many games, but Makar entered the league at 21 whereas Orr entered at 18.
Bobby Orr finished his injury ridden career with 915 points in 657 games, or 1.393 points per game. Conversely, Makar currently has 255 points in 245 games, or 1.041 points per game. Not close.
Orr also won the Art Ross trophy for most points in a season, and is the only defenseman to ever do it. Orr did it TWICE. Imagine Makar outscoring McDavid, Mackinnon, Draisaitl, Matthews, etc. in two separate seasons. And no, Orr wasn't the only good player in the league then - Esposito was the greatest goal scorer to ever live at that point, but Orr outscored him on two separate occasions.
Makar is a monster but claiming he is on pace to outdo Orr is a total joke (as of now!)

If you superimposed Makar and Orr making plays they look nearly identical, except Orr did it with CCM tacks that weighed about 5 pounds each and a Vic stick that was actually just a hunk of oak that fell off a tree in a storm. And Makar has had a team of sports pros guiding his past and current development, Orr had Frosty Forrester, the lake in Perry Sound, and whole milk. But Makar is probably now where you can give him a tie for second (with Lidstrom, sorry Paul).

best defensiveman EVER, but..... AVS had a way better record last year without Cale, then with him. Seriously check it out, they were insanely good the 20+ games he missed.
