I can easily see this as being accurate. A positive person is going to look for ways to increase their chances, the same is true for a sober person. A negative person is more likely to sit at the one machine, mindlessly playing it. There are different machines that pay better depending on how the player bets on it. I play with very small amounts whereas most players I see play with at least $1 per spin so I get to watch the different outcomes on different machines.
