a great ova to bridge first and all mix. love rondo and merm4id, was nice to see everyone again. like i actually got that feeling of "oh hey it's been a while, good to see you :]" while watching this. the return of the watch parties is welcomed, i'll be sure to tune in for all mix. can't wait to "T" with the homies again.

I miss D4DJ. Give me any anime to forget completely so I can watch it for the first time again, it'd be this whole series. I love it! So many cherishable moments, such gorgeous animation, amazing music, songs and characters.
Only critique, is I wish there was more to this episode. Maybe if it were 40 minutes instead of 20, scenes would feel more fleshed out, and the pacing would feel more like the rest of the series. Emotional character moments especially should have some breathing room, but in a 20 minute episode its hard to achieve that. Maho's jealousy arc for example, took a couple episodes to resolve. However, I also understand there probably just wasn't enough in the budget to cover more than one episode's worth of OVA, I just wish there was more.

I will be honest this episode made Rika grow on me as a character. I personally thought she was way too emotionally oblivious, like she didn't really take into mind when other people are uncomfortable or scared and rather pushes them to their limits. But the scene in the church with her and Tsubaki shows that she actually does care and is capable of noticing those emotions.
I get that she is meant to be the bubbly, happy go lucky kinda character... but there is a way to have her be that without her feeling so tone-deaf, ex: I think Rinku has a good balance. Maybe it is just that because Mermaid hasn't really had much of a chance to shine in the anime prior to this, so Rika hasn't gotten much character development.
bet you never read the event stories throughly. Rika has always showned to be a very caring person prior this episode. You can see those traits from the first rondo and merm4id hot spring event, her first birthday card, holly starry chrismas, her relation event with Saori, d4fes, and ect. For example, in the holly starry chrismas event, she didn't want to leave Rena alone because Rena reminded Rika of Tsubaki's lonely childhood; in the relation event Saori was worried that Rika would be join another unit so she pretended to be sick to excused herself away from the afterparty, after pulling a nighter Rika arrived Saori's house to take care of Saori as Rika thought Saori was sick; in her birthday card she showed her serious side to dalia while telling Dalia that she appreciate all the members in merm4id and cries after Dalia says how she helps each members. In d4fes she tickles Saori to relief Saori. In the hot spring event she kept annoying Tsubaki because she wanteid to restore her friendship with Tsubaki and she knows that Tsubaki doesn't push her away due to spite. And there are many more details that shows her considerations towards other people.
