Sub'd on ur Lanshan review (i think) stayed for your solid honest character, good story telling (video editing can be tiresome) and your locations! Keep it up, a super refreshing hiking channel amongst all the others!!
Interesting that we are going to be doing the Affric Way in the next few weeks but going west to east and stopping at Cannich. Three days planned and a stop at the Youth Hostel on the way. Great video and well done
Thanks Willie, I hope you enjoy the trip. I’d recommend taking your time in the first half of the trip, there are some breathtaking landscapes in the area
An interesting video thanks. Congrats to Liv for making her first trek. Walking east to west, to me, seems counter intuitive but it is better to walk into that beautiful country than out of it. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks Emma. The biggest reason is the scenery gets better the further West you go on the trail. It also gets more remote in the Western section so the Eastern section can ‘ease’ you in
Sorry its me again, Breathtaking Stunning Scenery Beautiful views and what a country scotland is, I will watch this one back again tonight mean time I need to get some work done LOL, Looking forward to your next Adventure, Les.
Hi Richard, thanks for sharing the video! I am Italian, I travel for photography and excursions, I take my photos on black and white film and I love Scotland very much, in particular Glen Affric, Knoydart and Torridon, and last but not least the Isle of Skye! The landscapes of the Highlands are truly magnificent! I was there in 2006; fascinated by beauty i returned in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2017, and now i can't wait to come back again !! What great emotions to see it in your video! Thanks a lot and happy new adventures! PS: I also have the Taga2, excellent tent !!! ;-)
Hi Luigino, that’s great to hear! I also shoot film (although not usually on my longer hiking trips) and have recently started shooting BW Ilford film too!
Great video. Inspiring. Good idea to walk it from west to east. I've been to dozens of countries but I think Scotland is still my favourite: the combination of history and landscape is phenomenal. SAOR ALBA!
Hey Richard just completed this trail but missed out Drumnadrochit section which is ridiculous and dangerous. There are plans to move it into the fields instead of a roadside verge. We started on Monday 31st May 2021 at Cannich but had to park up at Dog Falls because couldn't find a place to park. We then hit the trail over 3 days finishing on Thursday the 3rd June. Weather was hot and very windy during the night. Lan Shan 1 pro barely coped. Trail needs proper signs in places but hard going underfoot. Glad it was dry over the 3 days. ATB.
Hello mate! As aways great video and hiking, great to see this experience shared and the views, landscapes were epic! Cheers Richard see ya on the next one.
Still holding up just fine along all the major, important seams. Some of the minor ones like the belt and front pocket are slightly loose on the ends, requiring a couple of minutes to re-sew. Happy to keep on using mine
What a great hike! Nice visuals, thank you for taking us with you. Totally different topic: I wonder what is your opinion on the Lanshan 2? I own the 1p as well, and sometimes I've been thinking if I should have gone with the 2p version.
Cheers Lucas. I haven't got the Lanshan 2 myself but it looks looks like a solid choice with more usable space. I was looking for a Lanshan 2 for this trip but left it a bit too last minute so it wouldn't have arrived on time. Like what I've seen from the Taga 2 so far though. It's so easy to set up and very spacious
did a small section of this on the SNT and after watching this i think the whole thing needs to get done! sweet channel bro lookforward to watching ya stuff!
@@RichardCheng aye the SNT joined for the last 5miles at the western end then headed north to the falls of golwmac. Which blew my mind. You got anouther trail in the pipeline bro?
Great video- we are heading to do the Affric-Kintail Way in May. It may be too difficult to answer but any tips on how you found the camping spot on the second night? You say you walked around 12 miles to get there. Did you have to come off the path? Any clues/ tips you can give would be appreciated. Thanks, Marta
Thank you Marta. The campsite we found was by the loch and just off the path (30 metres). We were on the look out for a loch side campsite as the other side was too steep to pitch up at. There wasn’t too many choices up to the point where we pitched up at, but there are more choices in the next couple of miles to my memory as we walked past them the next morning

Thanks Maikal, love the detailed feedback. I will look in to how to fresh the video editing up for the future
Lol, the bunny!
Thanks for taking us along. Liv is fortunate to have you as a guide for her first backpacking trip!
Thanks Sondra! Glad the weather was also kind to us for Liv's first backpacking trip, otherwise it would've been a lot less enjoyable I bet!
I love that pack!
Fun vid, thanks!
Thank you! Very proud of the IKEA backpack and love using it

Scotland's landscape is truly unique and offers the majestic but subtle beauty that doesn't exist elsewhere
enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing
Thank you!

Hey Benjamin, good to hear that there is ongoing work to move the trail off the main road. You’ve not missed much by starting out at Cannich 🙂
Another inspiring video Richard, thanks for sharing it.
Cheers Gary, thanks for the kind words and thank you for watching

Cheers Jodz. Agreed the views were stunning and I would love to go back to the area to explore more
@@RichardCheng hopefully you get to go back and summit one off them mountains!! 👍

@@RichardCheng It looks like a solid tent indeed! I had a CloudUP 2 before, the first version. But the aluminum poles failed on me on a hiking trip.
Sorry to hear that :(
Taking the Taga out again this weekend on a group trip so hopefully it doesn't happen or it could be embarrassing!

Thanks Marta, hope that helped and you end up enjoying the Affric Kintail Way!
I'm not familiar with the African Tail Way and I grew up near by.
Looks fairly bog-free, so trail runners are probably ok.
It’s well defined paths for pretty much the entire route, didn’t come across any boggy terrain when we walked it
Glen I Urquha
Glen Urquhart bland and boring? That's fighting talk!
Hi Colin, compared to the latter 2 days the first 2 days is not as dramatic and majestic
