My TRAP-JAW ANTS vs ROACH

- One of the most underrated ant colonies of this channel, in my opinion, under our care, that totally deserves more recognition, are these supremely unique ants, which have some of the fastest and most powerful appendages in the animal kingdom: Trap-jaw ants!
These ants get their name from their signature serrated mandibles which can open greater than 180 degrees, between which exist little trigger hairs, that like a trigger in a bear trap, once touched, cause the mandibles to snap shut with tremendous force instantly delivering a lethal blow or death lock upon any prey that might be unlucky enough to be a victim of its clutches. I felt it was time to return to their mighty forest kingdom, we call Aranyani’s Bend, to check up on our trap-jaw ants, and see what the colony’s been up to.
Ladies and gents, let’s gather round, put on our best protective head and body gear, and get up close and personal with our menacing, but beloved trap-jaw ants, as they feast on a huge roach carcass, like a hungry pride of lionesses, here on the AntsCanada Ant Channel. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

I think i can speak for the majority of us when I say I'm here for all ants! Trapjaws are equally as cool as the others!
Ya😊
Yeah exactly
All ants are cool 🐜🐜🐜
Yea
Nah, trap jaws have been my favorite since I was a kid.
You need to put them on rotation. So we get regular updates on ALL the ants.
Great idea!
I really like that idea. Do a different colony every month and you can even let the community vote on what colony gets focus for the month
Yeah, like what about those ants you caught under the Dracula Ant AC Farm?
@@AntsCanadahey my ants have started to grow what food do you reccomend they are black garden ant
@@jasonwallace1990 I'd do a weekly rotation. If he has more than 7 colonies, it would be 8 months between seeing them. If each week we get an update (unless something truly spectacular happens) then it's only 8(ish) weeks between seeing them rather than 8 months.
we truly need more trap jaw videos, they're besties!
What's especially satisfying about AntsCanada is that we get an up close and personal view of creatures just doing what they were meant to do...and doing it well. They're so unlike us, but also, kind of like us as well. I never get bored seeing AntsCanada videos!
I love AntsCanada. I get to learn more about ants and get to relax at the same time.
The bone breakers
We need more of these TrapJawAnts videos its really entertaining.
To be honest I was getting tired of fire ants and common ones. I want to see trap jaws, drac ants and other ants.
True that
Yeah i wanna see how our drac ants are doing
Ive missed the Jawbreakers ever since they left the antiverse, and how fun watching feeding was for them, they were one of my favorites! But now, i can finally feel the joy of watching trap jaws feed again!
I Love how this channel is so descriptive on how beautiful these ants are, Thank you AC!
Personally id like a more scheduled rotation on your ant colonies. I emjoy the week by week update on the more popular colonies but i also enjoy seeing the other "secondary" colonies getting their own videos
Thank you for the update. I love the trap jaw colony. They are one of my favorite colonies in the Antiverse. They look like they have little mustaches...so cute.
My daughter and I were just talking about trap jaw ants a day ago. Nice
AntCanada is now for some years already in my RPG weekend-to do list
9:57 THE GRAVEYARD DIGGER
New fear unlocked: Trap-Jaw Ants
You don’t wanna mess with them i agree
You're so right, low maintenance is an absolute gift! Keep loving the Trap Jaws as you always have, I'm sure they're happy to be as unintrusive as possible.
10:00 looks like an isopod to me. I see them doing this a lot under decaying plants.
Maybe an adult pillbug
it's about time a name is voted for the trap-jaw ants
I love the Snapdragons, hope the name gets to be picked
It's official, I'm coming to NEW JERSEY! Oct 22nd Antscanada Meet & Greet in New Jersey, USA 🇺🇸. Visit therchild.com to reserve your tickets now. Limited seating. Open to all ages. Ant love forever! 🐜
Watching ants Canada then gets ant bait commercial😂
Omg I love that TRAPJAW ants! They look so aggressive and makes me have nightmares if I owned them! Truly underrated! #ant-love foreverrrrrrrr
Right???!!! Ant love forever! ❤️🐜
Omg I actually love your channel! And this made my day that you’ve replied to my comment (: it was your marauder ants that inspired me to buy my first ant species camponotus nicobarensis and later on thanks to ur nuptial videos catch 4 lasius queens Thanks so much antscanada ❤️
Would love for you to do a interactive commentary with the trap jaw ants, like you did with the yellow crazy ant queen sorority, it feels like a thing the trap jaw ants can pull off, since they all act kinda independently on their own
Trap jaws and bullet ants are my favorite ants. So you doing content for these ants are really good.
Trap-jaw ants actually refer to a wide range of ants with the signature fast-moving mandibles, as Odontomachus is not the only genus of ants to have this adaptation(like Anochetus sp.).
The trap jaws are my favorites. It’s sad they haven’t been the focus of many videos.
I still remember their valiant stand against the marauder ants awhile ago in the old apartment.
This man is the best guy he’s grown from a small colony (channel) to one with more than 4 mil!
!!! i saw a wild trapjaw ant on my floor the other day and i was ecstatic ! i hope i can find a queen next nuptial flight!
Trap Jaw Ants, are my favorite ant species!
I truly wish the aunt were on a lighter background or a floor so we can see them a lot better it’s really hard to see when they’re on that dark ground that’s my thought
name for the trap - jaw ant colony - Catchers (another name if it is already taken) Trappers (I do not know if these are already taken or have been taken)
8:52 I got jump-scared that something bad happened to your colony
An AntsCanada upload is always a welcome sight
I love the trap-jaw ants. I think they're fascinating. If they grow much more, they're going to need a bigger home!
Finally the trapjaws again!

cockroach giving birth while being devoured
First time catching a queen birthing an egg
New species identified
Death of favorite colony
Finally catching a queen on nuptial flight
Etc
Congratulations!
I think ants are absolutely adorable! Amazing little creatures! So cool!
I mean honestly I like all the ant species but trapjaws are my favorite and I can’t keep a colony so I always love seeing episodes about them
Haa! 9:50
"Whatever that thing is." ?
How creepy. I'd be watching that area like a hawk until I figured out what it is. Reminds me of some kind of Apostle from Berserk.
😄👍
Good morning from Scotland....💝
Good morning! Ant love forever!
@@AntsCanada and ever and ever and ever....💝
I absolutely love your educational documentaries 😊 they definitely make me look at ants differently. The ones that end up in my house idk if they are invasive or not but instead of killing them I feed them 😅 I leave a water bottle top with some raw honey in it outside to help keep them Outside were they belong
Yow 40k subscribers away! Were closing to 5 million lets g
🙌🙌🙌
How would any of you keep carpenter ants out of a tree next to my house?
I’m relatively new, so ngl didn’t even know you had these. Great to see them now!
*_BEAR TRAPPING COLONY❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥_*
I’ve been watching your vids every Saturday for the last 4-5 years. (I’m subscribed
i found 2 trap jaw ant queens paired up in my backyard, no eggs yet and no workers, though i noticed one of the queens was definitely on hunting duty
they are the wimpiest ants i've ever seen, i gave them a small termite from my colony and she kept missing the head and biting the air so instead gave them a piece of chicken and they started licking it
i love them so much
Always love seeing updates, especially for such an interesting species of ant like the Trap-Jaw.
TRAP JAWS! my absolute favorited ants
"Whatever that thing is over there, moving around under a pile dead bodies in the trap jaw cemetery"
I'll just wait here in the Ants Canada tour bus.
😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲I'm quite new, OH MY GOSH(best English ) I had no idea about this group of ants😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃I'm in love!!! Ok I will now watch the rest of my video ...THANK YOU ANTS CANADA ...🥃here's a wee drammy for you😉
I love trap jaws. Coolest ants imo
trap jaw ants are my favorite ant hands down, their jaws are just so amazing
I think that “Sciz ‘or” (a reference to the pokemon named Shizor) could be perfect for this beautiful colony
i never miss one of your videos :)
Trap jaw ants are my second favourite species who agrees they are cool?
👇
What’s your favourite then?
@@TheThreeScoots my favourite ant species is leafcutter ants
@@pinot7215 they are very interesting, I think army ants and weaver ants are some of my favs
@@TheThreeScoots 😎 cool
People use these to stitch up open wounds when stitches aren’t possible.
They make them hold the wound closed and then cut off the bodies so the jaw is just there like a staple
Mikeee make some shorts so that if ever we got bored within the week we have something to watch hehehe😊
I love the Trap jaws and Dracula Ants❤
We need more videos of Trap-jaws, they’re my favourite species of ants
I would love longer videos if you can. I love this channel and all the ants
I couldn't focus on the actual feeding part. The moment my pet pigeons heard classical music, they grew adorably crazy (it's the first time they heard it, and they loved it)
when i was a kid my mom forced me to watch science videos rather than the usual gaming videos and even after i could watch whatever i still watch this to this day.
so glad for AntsCanada! my interest/curiosity with ants started when i was around 8. was at school and saw this big black weird ant that had long snapping jaws. it was trying to come to me (was sitting on the floor in the halls of my school) and i was scared a used a pencil to block it from coming at me, and as soon as it snapped its jaws, it flung far. I have never seen that kind of thing with ants and it literally flew because of how strong its jaws were. Ants are amazing creatures. Now I know what they're called. Trap jaw ants!
I love how eager the ants are so eager and diligent about the cockroach lol
Popularity is probably just due to the colony size. But I and lots of your fans love all the colonies! Especially the more unique ones. This is what makes the Antiverse so special!!! ❤️ ant love forever
I just the sound you play when it is feeding time
this is where a legendary colony is born
I love these guys, more of them PLEASE
May I also salute your choice of music 😂 it's just awesome!!!
YOU MADE ME LOVE ANTS!!!
hmmm... i was thinking a good name would be BackBreakers?
11:34 bros power ran out💀
Great video! Congrats on 4.96 subs!!!!!!
We need more trapjaw ant vidsss
I love it thanks for the weekly updates on the ants
Thx for that great Video, nice style, it was a pleasure to watch more of this please, you are amazing 😁
I woke up to the happy vibes of a new antscanada video
the Antimultiverse
9:50 I reckon it's an egg that will hatch to release a white hawk during a psudo-eclipse (very niche reference here)
So happy you covered trapjaw ants. I have a colony of trapjaw ants and I have to say they are the most fun to watch!!! They are so smart and extremely fast when they want to be; but the most satisfying thing to watch is when they stalk prey.
I’ve always enjoyed watching your videos! 😁 Seeing these ants thriving brings me joy! 😁
My favourite type of ant. Are trapjaw ants, they are just so interesting and dangerous. Yet cute in their own way at the same time. I really miss your old trapjaw ant colony, were we saw one worker drive back a force of Pharaoh ants.
please more trapjaw ant content they are a truly amazing species
10:39
Ah yes the jaws of 83 with Antty Fazant and her sisters
Love Trap-Jaw Ants!!!!!!
You should identify the mealybug species of the crematogaster colony
It will be a great way to know what symbiotic realtions these ants have
I like these ants, in the movie Apocolypto the Mayans used them to stitch up their cuts, make them bite and snip the head off.
I wonder how these ants avoid accidentially injuring their colony mates when they run into each other, given their hair-triggered powerful jaws.
We are so close to 5 M subs ! Great job to you !
Thanks for all your videos, you really made me love those littles souls and beeing curious about them !
I think the ants should probably be called the snapping borjons
I am so glad that you did a video on the trap jaw ants thay are my Second favorite ant species in the World! ant love Forever ❤️ 🐜
I like "Trap house" as a name.
At 9:51 that is a Dianoga very common creature in trash heaps.
I always called these "snapping ants" growing up because of the snapping sounds they made with their jaws. They are pretty smart and go off on their own without fear. Like deadly hunters.
I would name them "Hunter Killers" based on the deadly Zerg units from brood wars. Their larger heads kind of remind me of them.
It's so interesting to me that the ants place their dead in a separate pile from their other refuse.
Video is 5 hours ago,
Meanwhile comments are 6 hours ago💀
Trapjaw ants are my favorite species. We need more AC videos of them
Excited for Saturday because there's no school: ❌️
Excited because ants Canada posted a new video: ✅️
All the ants you have are all interesting. Don't matter to me which one. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you
Beautiful, I will get them too to add to my colonies ;)
