Dave's Panic Attack live whilst he plays the piano is fire & his track LESLEY is a masterpiece of story telling all written at the tender age of 18. Lesley will make you sit quietly stunned whilst the film unfolds in your head as he raps, pure brilliance is his way of expressing himself. There is NO ONE in the States of his age that comes close or is a multi-talented as Dave in that genre.
His first album was award winning, he helped produce it & played the piano pieces on it as well. Not many rappers can rap & play the piano & guitar at the same time, Dave can!!
The UK has a deep love of their language so our rappers are top grade writers & story tellers- sorry to say but they are far cleverer then even the old generation of American rappers in the way they create triple word plays & paint scenes that make you stop & really think about what's been said. It's also a different outlook on life of course as Europe, all its history & cultures, are all around us!
How many in America would weave a whole theme about art & nature in a scheme which talks about how hard it is on the streets?

I think the UK picked up where the US left off in around 2010. Like you say, a lot of US artists went 'vibey' while we kept it bar heavy and introspective. We wouldnt have this in the UK without the work the US did and we were influenced heavily (obviously)
All of our greatest lyricists over here in the UK, were inspired by your legends in America. Your legends are who we consider the legends too... they paved the way, that's why you'll always hear at least one of them being mentioned when listening to UK rap... our rappers are always paying homage to them

In terms of what’s being pushed to forefront, UK rap scene is better than the American Rap scene. The music, the content, the talent and the overall authenticity of these rap artists is up right now. Lyricists are still valued over there and Dave & Avelino are among the top tier lyricists that can make great songs. The HipHop that needs to be pushed to the forefront is not being pushed, ex. Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, JID, Earthgang, etc. yes we have the Drake’s, Kendrick, and J. Cole’s of the world. It’s not enough, commercial diversity in HipHop.
