People act like Tommy should be some world level champion, there's plenty of people who trained early who don't end up being world champions etc. Same as there's people who haven't hard long amateur careers but go far like Wilder did (Picked the gloves up very late).

Out of all the furys Shane got the gift of straight honest talking and logical thinking. I was surprised tommy can't jab, Tommy's footwork is usually better than that as well. Tommy footwork is usually his best asset. But Shane's right without a good stiff ram rod jab like his brother he's never going further than this level.
The problem is he can jab, he's shown a good jab before. Shane McGuigan had Tommy in his gym and said he was impressed by his jab. But he seems to abandon it. In my opinion I think the occasion gets to him and the fundamentals go out the window and he gets caught up in the moment and just tries to look for a big shot.

It was almost like someone said, only inaccurate half power shots are allowed then hold for six rounds. Appalling to see. I like Tommy as a person but, sometimes you have to say that your sibling, dad and cousin are just better at boxing than you are. My brother was much better than me despite me going to more boxing clubs, that's life. Shane is spot on in his analysis.

It was a terrible performance by Tommy. He really set himself up for this fight. He told us all how easy it was going to be. I think Tommy was lucky to scrape a victory here tonight and considering that KSI is the 'A' side it's even more surprising that he got the win when a draw would definitely have been more fair (and I was rooting for Tommy). Tommy has got to look in the mirror and face some dark truths about his piss poor performance. He has no jab, his accuracy is horrible and he lacks power. If he really wants to take boxing seriously, he has got to learn how to slip and move in there while keeping close to his opponent. And learn how to apply pressure with the jab. Standing at range and lunging in with wild swinging shots is not going to cut it. Also zero head movement. His only way of dodging a shot is by backing up, but then he is out of range himself... Really amateurish performance.
To be fair, his jab is usually his strong suit in his other fights, With KSI constantly jumping out of range and slipping in, he rendered the jab useless

@@sidkumar9838 no pro boxer jumps in and out of range like that for good reason, they would either get timed with a counter or a simple jab keeps them at bay. The fact that Tommy was not able to keep KSI at jabbing range was ultimately what led to Tommy's poor performance. KSI was either out of range or in the clinch. The fact that Tommy doesn't know how to use head and foot movement to stay at jabbing distance at this level is a serious problem. It's more a lack of Tommy's boxing skills than a great KSI.

It's Tommy's Fury lack of ability to make adjustments that is the reason it became a clinch fest. Any real boxer would throw uppercuts as KSI always put his head down while going for the clinch. If Tommy kept distance, used his jab to set up his shots + used feints this would have been easy nights work. Tommy Fury did this EXACT same thing against Anthony Taylor too. He's just not a good fighter and doesn't have the ability to make adjustment, most likely because he's not a very bright man in combination with John Fury not being a real trainer(also in combination with not being a very bright man) They just don't see the patterns and don't know what to do.

This isn't Tommy's first fight where he does the same thing every round without making adjustments. If you were in that right and threw the same overhand time and time again, missing because your opponent ducks you would think "ah so maybe I can time that duck with a nice uppercut" Or even force that duck with a good faint. Fury didn't even once try to do that which is absurd. And yes, he could have controlled the fight with his jab too. It's not the guy that can't box who is at fault for a stinker like this. If Tommy was better than he is he wouldn't end up in the clinch like that non stop. It boils down to shit poor ring iq in combination with non existent corner advice.

This is Tommy's level tbh and he knows it. He doesnt have the mentality. He clearly doesnt have the power either.
He could have power, but he doesn't know how to set up his shots as Shane says. I bet he could do more damage if he knew how to set his work up. Shane McGuigan had him on the pads and said he can bang. Lyndon Arthur sparred him and said he has real power. I think his problem is he doesn't know how to relax and set it up in a high pressure situation like a fight. Plenty of fighters can improve their power just by being relaxed and setting it up, rather than being tense and firing shots from the wrong distance etc, which is what Tommy does when he's fighting.

But p4p they are actually better than him (ksi and paul) considering that they started boxing just few years ago and they both gave him a hard time. @ettorebugatti9354 i think he should essentially re-disrubute the weight/muscle on his body. Less muscular and bulky on top and thicker legs. A good nutritionist and a good strength and conditioning person can do that. But I think he cares more about his image than what's ideal for boxing.

I just don't think he is talented enough for boxing. He is born into it and it was just obvious that he is going to do it but at the same time being born into something doesn't mean you will be good at it. His dad also wasn't so talented for boxing. Only 2 guys in that family that are good are Hughie and obviously Tyson. He is lucky that his name is what brought him to this stage and i think that this is the peak of his boxing career. He is never going to fight at high level and he shouldn't. At this point his family is smart enough to know that and not let that ever happens. Fight these youtubers, make money and that's it.
@ettorebugatti9354 why not? Ohara Davies has long arms, albeit as a smaller fighter and he uses it effectively, in the sense he fights at a much higher level than Tommy. Beside I'm not talking about him being skinny, I'm just saying remove some of the bulk. I don't think long arms are a problem, plenty of fighters have long arms. Long and overly bulky is a hindrance though. Most fighters you see with a long wingspan and use it to their advantage don't usually carry so much bulk like Tommy. He can redistribute that muscle mass to make his body more suitable to boxing without being skinny.
I mean I agree, i think this is his level now, but there's still changes he could make to be more effective at this level. Maybe getting a better trainer than John Fury would be a start...

Nah the scorecards would not have looked like that because the judges would have tried to make it closer for Tommy even if the point hadn't been deducted, proves it was rigged from the beginning because if the pt was not taken then Tommy would have been 5 points up and lets be real, even Tommy wouldnt believe that.

Thank you finally someone speaking facts.
