Timberborn Game Overview:
Humans are long gone. Will your society of lumberpunk beavers do any better? A city-building game featuring ingenious animals, vertical architecture, and river control. Contains high amounts of wood.

Timberborn Gameplay Features:
River control
Endure catastrophic droughts thanks to millennia of experience in water engineering. Beavers of the future redirect rivers, put up dams and dig canals with explosives. But be careful, uncontrolled flooding is as deadly as a dynamite blast!
Lumberpunk
Turn timber into sophisticated machinery, buildings, and monuments. Wood is the core resource in Timberborn, but the most advanced structures require metal. To find it, send your scavengers to the ruins of the old world.
Vertical architecture
Create a thriving beaver settlement using a modular, vertical architecture system. Here, space isn't infinite, so stack lodges and workshops on top of each other, cover hills with fields, and set up a power grid for your growing population.
Day and night cycle
Build a prosperous city with efficient production chains and beaverish nighttime activities. Follow the lives of individually simulated inhabitants throughout their day and celebrate when the next generation is born!
Wellbeing
Satisfy the needs of your colonists to extend their lifespan and make them happier. An evolved beaver's lifestyle is not just "work, sleep and chomp on wood". Balanced diet, decorations, temples, even carousels - you take care of it all.
Beaver societies
Unlock additional beaver families, each with unique style and traits. While one species might be okay working long shifts, another would rather focus on increasing the population - so choose what fits your playstyle.

Well, he WAS dealing with water (Hydro) and it required building (Engineer), so I guess you could say he was playing Hydroneer.

Blitz, just wanna thank ya for playing this. It's because of this that the Timberborn demo is the first game I ever got off Steam, and the first proper game I've ever played on PC.

The conduits for dams would be great for another species or clan of beavers that we can't play right now. I hope they can give them all fun and interesting technologies to set them apart.
Tf? Another species of beaver.. how in depth are you trying to go re sub species and the like?
@@dript7686 idk lol I'm just talking about the other beavers you can choose in the game but I don't remember if they're other species or factions
One of the beaver factions will have wind power, so it wouldn't surprise me if they make something like that.
There IS a way to get more time in the demo, though it requires you to go into your save file and change the season to a negative number.

Yeah, I'd love it if we had a way to slowly release water from a reservoir too. I also really want the water pumps to reach further down. Keeping crops irrigated right now is doable with the tools, but engineering a drinking water reservior isn't, as you eaither need to make it wide and shallow, loosing a lot to evaporation, or you make it deep during a dry season and place multiple pumps in it, one on each level and just have the lower ones submerged until the top layer of water is fully consumed.
Blitz, you should talk to the Real Civil Engineer. You two would get along well. He loves bridges, you love dams! Both relate to water!

This game could use open end type of gameplay to really experiment the ( insert word here ) out of the game engine. I hope they'll consider making a mobile version of it, as well.
The problems with making a mobile version are 1) the scale of the interface, and 2) how input is read. Remember, you usually don't have a full, physical keyboard attached to a mobile phone or tablet. Most mobile devices nowadays are touch-screen with very few physical buttons. Not to mention the size difference between a phone/tablet and a full-size monitor. Mobile is entirely different from desktop/laptop. So while modern mobile devices would likely have the horsepower to run the game, it'd be a nightmare for the developer (yes, ONE developer working this game) to adapt the interfaces to such a drastically different platform. Unless this game reaches mass success on desktop to the point the dev can afford to hire someone to assist in converting the game, it'll probably stay on regular computers.

That was a really epic idea to make deep spots in the river to keep the crops hydrated all year. Way better then trying to build enough dams fast enough.

A little tip about time management: 18 hour workdays are a good mix of downtime and work, 17 hour workdays are good for getting more beavers, 19 hour workdays are good for getting more work done without causing exhaustion.

The day I learned Blitz used to be an actual hydroneer.
If you want to min-max a bit, least the planting until a bit later and once you have planted the first crop, pause the building again. During the first growing period there is nothing for them to do once the crops are planted and they don't act as haulers when idle so set them to other tasks until harvesting is ready. Also always have them prioritise planting, it takes longer to harvest but you get the next crop much sooner and it is more efficient in the long run.
Blitz, I follow a few big gaming channels, but you are by far my favorite content creator. You always have the upmost positive attitude out of anyone else on CZcams, and you seem you like you’re enjoying every game that you play in your videos. If you ever come across this comment, I’d love to game with you sometime.

Yes, a flow-through mechanism for dams needs to be a feature because that's the bloody point of dams
Some tips: If you build to the top of the valley, the water stops coming in... Also, you can get more seasons by changing the ini file.

Just had a random idea, you could try stack the houses really high and maybe add stairs to make a beaver hotel. I'm not sure if it would work but it would be pretty cool to try 😁.

IRL, when beavers build a dam, they stop any actual flow of water. One method of attempting to mitigate damage from beaver dams have been to install a pipe at the bottom of the dam to continue water flow. The prevailing theory as to why it doesn’t work is the beavers follow the sound of flowing water and close it.

If you set the farm to "plant before harvesting" then you should be able to survive a lot with a single farmer.
I think its one farmer for every 30 or 40 beavers if set like that.
The reason why its better is that with that setting your beavers will replant instantly instead of planting then waiting then harvesting.
So the moment they finish harvesting last plant the first one will start getting ready to harvest again.

It would be more interresting how those big dams of other players get filled up.

I tried flooding the valley too, and mostly suceeded. you're doing a few mistakes here :
don't build roads before placing your buildings, they will build stuff in the same order you placed it so that will cause you to lose precious time.
the only thing you really need is levies and some stairs, save your wood and you'll manage without planting birch trees. the first thing you should invest into is campfires because that will boost your population. then housing for the increased lifespan.
also, if you want to flood the valley, surviving the second drought is optional

Tryed this demo out after seeing this, rather interestingly you can edit the save in a text file to set how many days long a wet season is, thus extending the amount of time you can play the demo.
