  • 2018 has been the most eventful year for the Babymetal fans. From the passing of Mikio Fujioka, to the new style of music, new outfits, the new presentation with a total of 7 girls and Yui leaving the band.
I finally decided to do a recap of everything that has happened and share my thoughts on the whole situation.

The dynamic of the band has changed. It always seemed like it was Su Metal and her 2 little sisters, Yui and Moa. Now it seems it's gonna be centered more around Su, with Moa getting absorbed as one of the background singers/dancers. A lot of this band was that 3 sister image and this sudden change is like a punch in the face.

    • @Shaylok

You are right, thats exactly what it means to me. Moa is more than a background dancer. And I do not know what happened to Yui, but without her, it is not the same. She is not "exchangeable". The Trio has been unique.

    • @vortex162
      @vortex162 Před 5 lety +6

@@Haophil "unique" is key, it has been cohesiveness of their dynamics, these girls truly love each other and it was felt by ALL!!! When the "clock strikes noon" I will know Suzuka san has found the thread to make her dream come true! KAWAI in anything springs out from spontaneous being, experienced in kids ONLY, with growing up conditioning of life diminishes that nature, and being under the directives of an industry leaves no room for creative SELF DETERMINATION and THAT, is a great sadness for me to see on their faces! The show has become nothing more then an act of empty repetition!!

Idol groups in Japan and Korea are SO controlled. You could see in the interviews with BM how everything was scripted. All questions had to be submitted for approval beforehand. Yui had problems with some questions; she would stumble and say silly things. It seems ridiculous to us because we all thought Yui was wonderful. We totally accepted her as she was. But gradually she seemed to just stop talking during interviews, probably because she was afraid of saying something management didn't approve of. She would just sit there with a forced smile on her face while Su and Moa fielded the questions. Sometimes she would nod off and look sleepy. She didn't look really happy at all. But she NEVER complained. None of the girls did. In Japan, you don't complain. It means you are not a team player.
I think Yui just couldn't stand it anymore. She broke down. I remember at one point early on, Mori Hayashi, the 'teacher' for Sakura Gaguin, was concerned that that Yui, Moa and Su were being exploited and forced to do things they didn't want to do. He met with the girls and, apparently, he came away convinced they were ok. Turns out, they were not. At least, Yui was not. I have huge respect for Hayashi. He really cared about all the girls at Sakura.
It's not just BM though. The stress on ALL the idol groups in Japan and Korea is tremendous. The girls are hardly allowed to be human at all. And, yet, they line up to get a chance to be in the newest group forming, knowing how hard it's going to be and how little chance they really have of being successful, and how they could end up out of a job and with absolutely nothing to show for all their hard work. It's a sad story, and it's very real.

    • @dankmheems290
      @dankmheems290 Před 5 lety +19

They once admitted in an interview that they are told what to wear, when to smile on stage, where to go and not go, etc. You could tell she was worn down, falling of stage, falling asleep etc. She found out she could have a solo career and call it on her terms this time. Su probably sees Babymetal as her life work so she stuck around, they probably increased Moa and Su's pay to keep them around. They def make more than the new people and sadly, even the old band members.

    • @PaddyMcMe
      @PaddyMcMe Před 5 lety +30

      Sickening isn't it?
For 90% of girls in teen idol groups their 'reward' is simply to be a highly desirable marriage partner. That's it. They all think it's to get into acting, voice acting, commercials, modelling, etc, but those careers are reserved for the rare few.
They're treated like animals who won an agricultural competition.
All the while they're forced to sing song's about youth, love, school, friends, etc, none of which they get to experience themselves... They are genuine 'idols' as in they are physical representation of an idea, in their case young women, but never getting to live that life in reality, solely on camera. The more you learn and think about it the worse it all gets. Great to see someone else who has sympathy for these girls.

This is a good thought and gives me some peace to that topic, since it seems fitting if you take a quick look to Japan.
Somewhere was mentioned she left due to (mental) health - it may be better that way.
If she does something she has fun with, whatever it is, it’s better than being forced into something.

It's a sad life, but for some reason the kids want it :( i'm glad Yui got out when she did, and hope she can come back from the place she must of been in, and that Moa and Su are always ok, and get out if they need and not risk their mental health..

Yeah, sometimes I feel sorry for these artists. They are slaves. You may or may not like their work; it doesn't matter. They are nothing but props, posters, and a huge commercial that makes money for the patrons. The persons they are, the lives they live or can't live... nobody really cares, also we don't really know until they have passed away or decades after that brief candle of success burned for them. :'(
Listen, children, nothing and no one in this world is what it seems. You have to dig to find out the truth of people and things.

At least, for me while Suzuka and Moa remain in the band, BM will exist.
But I can't deny that I don't know how I would react if Moa leaves Su alone, probably in that moment I would stop following the band forever. Yui leaving the formation hit my heart so hard, I wouldn't tolerate another loss in the band.

Ohmura with Liv Moon on "Phantom of the Opera".. Solo Ohmura has the whole babymetal band minus babymetal jamming it out. Mikio, BOH, and Ohmura.. Serious greatness even outshining the Babymetal material, the possibilities were endless. Akane Liv is amazing..

Babymetal will be fine, a MANY big bands have lost original members and they still do their thing. Metallica, ACDC, Journey, KISS, Rolling Stones, Van Halen and many more and they are just fine.
Yui is a big girl now and she has her own dreams and path she wants to take, and she has every right too. She gave up like 8 years of her life to entertain and she worked her ass off considering Japanese idol standards. Let her be and appreciate what she did and what she will do.
Again Babymetal will be just fine, and honestly their new stuff sounds even more bad ass than the first 2 albums. Its rare how they progressed and i bet their new album crushes the old ones. Be cool, everything gonna be fine.

    • @bandicootcollector
      @bandicootcollector Před 5 lety +7

      You're right and wrong.
You're right about Yui having every right to follow her dream, and I fully support it.
But as for if Babymetal will be just fine, it's a yes/no.
They will be fine in the fact that they will continue, just as a man with one leg will continue to live his life, but the truth is they have lost something very special and will never be the same again.
'MANY big bands have lost original members and they still do their thing' but all of the examples you give are bands that play instruments, Babymetal is very different to that - the truth is you can always replace a guitarist, a drummer, it's the instrument that's important (nobody cries when the Kami band changes), but in being an idol and doing what Yui-Metal did, it was entirely HER that was the 'product' as it were, her talent and her personality, stage presence, her very being was integral to the show. The difference is that they cannot replace that, and they won't try, nobody would ever try that. You can replace a back-up dancer or a guitarist, but you cannot replace a person.
You can say 'idols always graduate', and I promise you fans are always sad when that happens, but the larger the group the less of the effect it has. Some idol groups have disbanded entirely due to members leaving, if they were a small group. Babymetal is only a three girl idol group, so each member is in the spotlight and very important.
Babymetal will never be the same again, and they wouldn't dare just throw in another 'third girl' because management know it's so much more than just a performer, it's the person themself who is important.
Instead, they change the entire set-up and the whole style of performance to fit a two girl front.
So yes, they'll be fine because they'll continue; but no they won't be fine because everything has to change.
Our one legged analogy from earlier will go on to live his life and be fine, but he won't be fine in terms of the life he lead before.
      That's gone.

The biggest message that 2018 brought to the fans was, that Amuse doesn't care at all for the fans nor the bandmembers themself. They couldn't be bothered to announce that Yui would miss the US Tour, they wrote some half baked lukewarm message when she left, and even this bit was deleted from their website after just 2 weeks. Also Yui's farewell message was deleted, her first message to the fans for years. Also, no one was waiting even for a bit. They scheduled tours and are apperantly worked on a new CD, months before Yui officially left. Nothing was canceld because Yui wasn't there. They made a point early on, that they would not wait even for a moment for anyone. Replace Moa, replace Suzuka? They are not done with the bullshitting, reworking, and rebuilding just yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Suzuka is replaced by a church choir at some point. "Core of Babymetal", my ass, just to let Moa dissappear within all these dancers.
Its kinda ironic how neither many fans nor Amuse sometimes seem to "get" Babymetal. The musical foundation was laid down by the songwriters, the Kamiband and the girls, mostly Su-metal. But the thing that made them stood apart from the competition was the charms, and the beautiful, wonderous chemistry between the three girls. There are many bands with great musicians and songwriters but they lack the certain something that Babymetal had in spades. Now some fans go off how Yui and Moa can be replaced, and only Suzuka matters and the evil clowns of Amuse think that many dancers means great stuff.
I also took offense by the way the message by Amuse of Yui's departure was worded. As if she choosed to have health problems, out of spite. Screw Amuse, screw these cutthroats and their overpriced merchandise. That the second off-stage picture of Moametal and Su-metal for a long time, was posing for that Babymetal clothes line, is so typical of Amuse. And has anyone noticed how short the gigs were this year? Running off the stage after an hour? Yeah, that is always typical for bands who love to perform. Or the never changing setlists. Has any effort been made this year, except covering up the gaping holes in their "plans" and lore nonsense?
And it looks like ticketsales were super slow this year. Someone on Reddit pointet out that even a couple of days before the Japan dates, some of them still weren't sold out. I can't shake the feeling that Moa and Suzuka are done as well, only fullfilling some contract with as little effort as possible. That whole "dark" Babymetal/Chosen 7 thing is just a last desperate to gain some attention before the curtain falls. It is probably for the best anyway. These three girls gave away their childhood and teen years, they finally deserve freedom and a life of their own.

Hallelujah! At last somebody who’s prepared to tell the truth. The panic and greed of the people at the top in Amuse following Yui’s injury/illness have destroyed the magic in Babymetal. Su and Moa now seem to be so tightly controlled in everything they do and everything they (don’t) say that it’s becoming disturbing. The only good thing in this whole situation is that we got a genuine farewell message from Yui (which she probably wasn’t supposed to do) - showing that she at least has kept some degree of freedom.

@Ashurii I write a special note to you straight from the heart. While all that Babymetal is going through feels so bleak and backwards there is a bright light that lifts me up in all this and I'll share it with you.
I believe with all my heart that all this drama about Yui being sick or injured is not true. In fact all we have gone through was really the result of her standing up for her true fans, like you. When she read the dark scripts in 2017 that they were asking her to perform too, she stood up to them and said, "There is no way I'm going out on that stage and tell my fans the Chosen 7 message". She never sang a single note of "Give Up", "The World is a Bad Dream" or "Elevator to Hell" stuff to us. Her message was always leading us down the path of, "The One".
The messages she gave to her fans in ALL her pre 2018 performances were messages of fun, hope, love and especially empowerment as all of the Babymetal lyrics were so full of. She believed in it so strongly that she actually became, in my eyes, a true Idol. I am so proud of her I could bust.
When everyone around her was caving in to the pressures of greed and darkness she stood strong. So when the thoughts of sadness creep in and I start to feel the gloom of missing our little dancing queen, I think of the example she set for us to follow and the sadness turns to gratitude. So thankful I can pull out and play the old vids of lDZ, GJ, Megitsune, Karate and so many others, that brings that Babymetal feel back to me.
I think Yui Sama would say to you...."My message has always been to live a positive life. Make a Babymetal World in your own life. Only you can do it. One thought at a time, One day at a time, One act of kindness to others at a time". 'WE ARE......BABYMETAL"

BABYMETAL has meant so much to so many of us.
We have all watched the band grow, as well as watching the members themselves grow up.
I remember looking at the fan cams from Sonisphere, when the comment sections were all filled with detractors, many threatening to throw bottles at them. Seeing the cams afterwards, and how they won over the crowd, I decided I had to follow them to see where it went, and it took me to many new wonderful places and friendships.
May we all get to stay together as fans and friends, wherever the road of resistance takes us.

I'm actually very excited to see what they put out. I'm a fairly new fan of Baby Metal, but I was hooked really quickly after seeing the Rondo of Nightmare performance and seeing that there is REAL musicianship behind them. As sad as it is that Yui will no longer be with Babymetal, I don't feel at all that it will kill the band. Comparing this situation to bands like Metallica and Megadeth and so on isn't fair when babymetal has a larger number of people with amazing talent in them. For me Su was always the star of the show with an amazing band behind the girls, and I have to say I am loving the sound of how Starlight sounded. You can hear their emotion about the recent changes into this song and it's powerful. They are more impacted and devastated by all of this than any of us are. We should be behind them and supporting them, not trying to give off this "Babymetal is dead" vibe. You guys have to remember these girls are young, even if Yui wasn't sick, maybe the metal life isn't the one she wants to live. It's her choice, we should be happy for her and supporting her like you would with a loved one. They are maturing, and you can hear it in the music. I don't want this comment to come off as "Its not a big deal", the loss of Mikio is devastating for everyone all around, as well as the departure of Yui. Honestly no one will know the outcome of this until it happens. It's obvious they have an album in the works. Just listen to it and see where they are now.

I'm also new to babymetal. All I can say is that change is the only constant. For better or worse babymetal will probably go on and I sincerely hope they keep bringing out these awesome tracks! For me as a new fan it isn't at all gloomy, I'm just thinking when can I see them live in my area and when are we getting a new kickass album! So they're already a thing, but I see that just now the metal community at large is noticing them and people want more. True passion and talent will persevere! Hope to see you soon babymetal \,,/!

    Great vid!
You perfectly explained why Yui's departure does hurt and why she is in fact not replaceable to us fans.
I agree with what you said at the very end, we don't really know yet what this "New Era" has in store for us. People already go as far as saying the Kawaii is gone, when we haven't even gotten the full album yet!
I'm trying to stay positive during all of this, I've gotten into Babymetal back in early 2016, it got me into my first real fight with my mum because I so badly wanted to go to their concert but she wouldn't let me because it was my senior year and the concert was a week before my final exams and I was scared they would disband or change members as they were getting older like most idol groups. I've never gotten this deep into a Band, I've never felt this...I don't know, connected with a band, I held and still hold them very close to my heart and refuse to let these changes take something from me, I so dearly love.
What does make this whole change and especially Yui's departure really devastating to me, is that I've gotten to see them for the first time this year. The year Babymetal went through drastic changes. The year Mikio had passed away and Yui was absent. I never got to see the old Babymetal live and that makes me really sad as it was one of my biggest dreams.
On the other hand, I am excited to see what this new era has in store for us and I'm glad that whenever I feel nostalgic, I can just go back to old videos of them.
Regarding Yui, I'm just glad we finally know. She surely reconsidered it many many times, 8 years isn't something you can just throw away like that (not saying she threw them away, she definitely didn't!) and I just hope whatever health condition/injury she has, she's getting better soon so she can pursue her dreams. I hope we get to see her again very soon, with a big smile on her face.
(EDIT: Forgot to mention that change is completely normal, especially for bands/singers. They should totally go for it and explore and just have fun)

Seen and worked with literally thousands of acts and bands but when I first saw Babymetal a few years back, that act took the top of my head off. I had never seen anything like that ever before. Was lucky enough to see them live and Babymetal fans were some of the funnest fans I had ever been with kinda like the very best party you have ever been to. Nothing remains the same. Two of my favorite bands, Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly have experienced seismic changes over the years with members suddenly passing on or core members leaving. In the moment it was really awful but somehow a vital element of the original line up somehow remained connecting the bands' iterations. Sometimes, people that left returned to participate. Stay in a band and hope to return, or take the pressure off and resign and move when you can? Tough life, that. Way I see it, Yuimetal, when she can do her own thing (and I pray she is healed of whatever it is that's stopping her), will either reunite or visit with Babymetal for reunion shows. We have to look at what Babymetal was all about. It was about seeing three little kids grow up to adulthood and we had the privilege of seeing them growing. They became part of the family. We were proud to watch on every video and every concert, every interview. And with the Yui departure it feels like we lost a daughter. Theres a void in this band that we watched growing. This is what hurts the most for all the fans. The family doesnt look the same anymore, it doesnt feel the same anymore because something is missing. Hopefully Yui will continue performing and we get to see her again and fill that void she has left us from Babymetal.

Such a lovely presentation, Thank you. I think it is like you said just so many things were happening all at the same time it was hard to take everything all in and process it all at once. Particularly when anyone who actually knows something is not saying anything. I wanted to enjoy the Starlight song as a tribute to and reminisce about Mikio but then got the news that Yui had left right at the same time so I was left a wreck of emotions for days. I'm sure Su and Moa would love to express their opinions on everything but for whatever reason they can't or won't at least release a statement of some sort. Especially Su as Yui was absent right at the time of Su's coming of age concert and I feel that must have hurt Su very deeply. My personal opinion is that something happened at that time (Dec. 2017) and Yui said enough is enough. while they may have been working to bring Yui back they knew then that she was done. again that is only my personal opinion. I have seen some clips from The Dark night carnival show in Japan from a few days ago and they have put a third girl up front In Yui's spot but she only does the dancing she does not sing Yui's parts Moa is still singing both parts so I see that as a sign of respect to Yui at least. well I have a million more thoughts but I think I've wasted enough of your time with my rambling. Thanks again for your wonderful presentation.

they worked hard for years to become a real metal band, they had it, they earned the respect, they proved they were great, but now all of that is gone, they became just another idol show thing. the recent changes are proving the haters right, when they said "it's a fake gimmick thing" we were all like "no, they are a real band!", now i'm not so sure.
I hate the new dancers, I hate the new costumes, I hate the new videos with the stupid characters and all the lore thing. the management took a band that had something magical and unique and ruined it focusing on the wrong things. it seems they want it to be just a brand or to push the lore as the main thing instead of the band. they were not like any other idols group, they were special, they can't be replaced or changed too much and expect the fans to not care.

I don't think Kobemetal ever thought he'd end up at this point. His vision was groundbreaking but they started off in the idol system ,by the way same as our corporate rock system, and built it up to the point that they are now a real rock band. You cannot control a real rock band, it has never been accomplished. They have had the death and member leaving as all the great bands in the past. Now is time to let the band use it's strengths, which is the members, to move forward.
He has guided them as far as possible in his current role. At this point he should consult and let the artists shine as artists, they have had some of the best training for this business that there is.

I am a fan since 2012. I was 13, listening to Metal already and also getting interested in Japan, when realizing my background and where I kind of come from. So I discovered Babymetal really fast as the first Japanese band I ever listened to. And when I saw that they are at my age, I got even more excited about them. I couldn't believe that girls at my age could do that and I fell in love with Su, Moa and Yui pretty quickly. That were great 6 years for me so far but one thing was always missing, a live show. My parents never let me go to one of their live shows because they said that I am too young, so I was sad when they were in Paris in 2014 and I couldn't see them live. I dedicated myself to be able to see them one time and as I was old enough and could have gone alone, I didn't have time. I talk about this year, 2018 when I could have watched them in Germany or in the Netherlands but I had to learn a lot for my Abitur so I couldn't go and watch them. Well I said to myself that I can watch them maybe next year or in 2020 when they come back eventually and I was still excited to see the three girls because I thought Yui will come back when Babymetal stated that she is still in the band. Yeah you can bet I sat there crying when I heard that she left, realizing I will never be able to see the three live together but I also knew that it is maybe better like that because I want Yui to stay healthy as well as the other members of course. So no matter what they will do, I will always support them as best I can and I hope Yui will be fine in the future, maybe coming up with something else. It will be hard to overcome this nonetheless but we all have to stay optimistic and see what will happen next. Yes Yui will always be something that is missing in the band, especially for long time fans that is hard, and there will be several changes with Babymetal but all we can do is hoping for the best now and that they won't change too much.

The band FINALLY played in Texas, it was my first time seeing them and I went to the Austin show or the second show of the US tour back in the spring. I was so sad that my first time seeing BabyMetal was without Yui and I will more than likely never see her again with the band. That being said, I am still a huge BabyMetal fan and whether Yui left or not, I knew change was coming because they are getting older and it's time for a more mature sound. It happens to every band that starts out young. I just bought the BabyMetal graphic novel and love it!! I just started reading it and I love how it goes more in depth of who the Fox God is and hoping it will shed more light on the chosen 7. Although a little confused with the chosen 7 thing because of the delivery of it, I am still really curious to see what comes out of it and just as excited for the new album. Going to try to remain optimistic for the future of BabyMetal; haven't lost faith in them yet.

This last year has been absolutely devastating to the music industry in general. Many people, many legends I idolize as a musician myself passed away. When I heard about the death of Mikio, my heart didn't just sink, it free fell. I knew from experience that it would have an impact at least musically, and I was right. On Yui, all the people saying she was going to leave way back when her health deteriorated WERE wrong at the time as were, and still are, all these conspiracy theorists who keep spouting how she was pregnant and all this other crap that would have taken her off performing much sooner than the real reason did. At the Osaka concert, her last appearance as a member of BABYMETAL, she didn't look well AT ALL. She looked bloated as if she was having a mass allergic reaction, which can be a sign of several life threatening issues, all of which would have taken her off performing to seek immediate treatment. When the first show of 2018 hit, I was among those voicing my concern for the girl and my disappointment in the management for not announcing she would be absent. I get that part of typical Japanese beliefs is that medical issues are a private matter, but we didn't need to know why, just that she wouldn't be there. I was glad that they seemed to learn from their mistake in Kansas City and announced she wouldn't be on the Europe leg or the Japan leg, though I was saddened at the same time. Then came "Starlight," which was an obvious full group song as both Su-Metal and Moa-Metal can be heard. Hearing only those two in "Starlight" after hearing all three in "Distortion" was when things began to worry me more that her absence would be permanent as it was the first full group song to not feature her voice on dual harmony with Moa-Metal, "Distortion" being the last time we hear her. Then came the hammer to my already delicate heart. She and Amuse both announced that BABYMETAL would continue as a two member group instead of the original setup on a permanent basis. When I read the words to that effect, my heart just shattered. After eight years of great music and healing from a situation that left me having to fake emotion just to get by, it was over, she was officially gone. I have been in the music industry since before they were even idols and I have experienced first hand what happens when even one member of a trio leaves said trio multiple times. It has NEVER ended well in my experience. Every band I have seen that consisted of three or less people or that I have been in with three or less people has only ever lasted a year after a member leaves at most. I'm sorry, but given my experience with small groups, I CANNOT be optimistic about how long they will last. Yes, several of the big boys have had long runs despite losing members, but they aren't as small member wise as BABYMETAL. When you are dealing with a trio, you have to form that trio around the voices you pick for it, it just doesn't work to replace even one. An example of how this can go horribly wrong is when BABYMETAL was still technically an idol group as a sub unit of Sakura Gakuin. They held a concert where each of the sub units mixed up their members among each other so that members of one were performing in a different sub unit. The switched in girls performing as BABYMETAL for that specific performance did "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" and the girl who did Su-Metal's part at the beginning, when the other two dash across the stage, her scream specifically, which is one of the only parts still done recorded as it is part of the Su-Metal harmony track, let out this horrendous noise that still has me holding my headphones at arms length when listening to it to this very day. That is a perfect example of why a member of such a small group CANNOT be replaced or dropped without severe musical consequences. Yui said in her personal statement that part of her reason for leaving was to avoid inconveniencing The One, the actual name of the fans as a whole by the way, any further by continuing to keep us worried for her. Not only did she just worry us even more than if she hadn't left, she also left BABYMETAL in an unrecoverable tailspin musically, especially in the instance of Black BABYMETAL songs, which now sound extremely empty with just Moa-Metal on vocals, but also in the harmony part of the main songs, such as "Starlight" and anything that comes out from this point forward. I mean absolutely no disrespect to Yui when I say this and I absolutely do respect her decision to take this opportunity to pursue a solo career, I'm just putting my professional two cents into the mix.

Thank you for your comment, man! I realize it can easily be perceived as a bit over dramatic, at least the second part of it. The passing of Mikio Fujioka however did have quite an impact since not only was he a guitar player I found to be phenomenal, but also because of the memories from meeting and chatting with him. Just trying to reach those who's been heavily affected by these events.
      Cheers!

Like many I am a new fan, only discovering them just days before the official announcement of Yui's departure. I am fascinated by how many fans like me mentioned how fast they became a huge fan, especially starting off as a loyal metal fan and skeptical about the whole "gimmick". The first video I saw was the live compilation of "Catch Me If You Can", and at first thought during the intro that the Kami band was all of Babymetal so I was somewhat confused but at the same time impressed with their skills so I kept watching, then when the girls joined in and started with their dancing and singing, I was both blown away and dumbfounded at how great it all works together! I have not been able to go through a day without putting on their album or videos since. And just as I was looking forward to see them live, the news came of Yui's departure and even though I just started to follow them, I was devastated at the thought that I'd never see them the way they were. However, I look forward to see how their transformation continues and hope all the best for Yui while hanging on to the faint hope that she comes back!

Well I knew from the very beginning when they were saying Yui is still with BM but sick and this gimmick 3 becomes 7, I knew Yui is not coming back. I love BM to the core. BM with Su Moa & Yui. But upon learning Yui missing, I knew it's all over and time to move on. Nothing last forever.
Wait a little while. BM will soon disband altogether. It won't be long.
If other fans still loves this BM, that's good. But BM without Yui is not Babymetal. No matter what gimmick they create. It's just not Babymetal.

I just discovered Baby Metal 6 months ago. I got the chance to see them live in Chicago and loved it. Although I’m new to the fandom, I was shocked to hear of their loss of one of the most talented guitarists in the world and heart broken that I would never see them with Yui. But the show did not suffer. They came out strong and determined. Su slayed every song and Moa projected so much joy that I could barely take it. Also, Moa plays around with Su and makes sure she’s in a good place. Watching footage from all over, I see their bond growing strong, and that’s pretty amazing to watch.

I understand medical issues and pray she’s ok and won’t lie it kinda made me look at the band a bit different realizing she was gone. I still love the band very much but will sorely miss the original trio and hope to see more of Yui in the future.

Well said man...Your video really hit many points that I felt were very true with a lot of us fans. Changes happen unexpectedly and they can be drastic, but that's life. I'll miss Mikio and Yui in the band very much, and like you said I'll always feel nostalgic for what the band had been, but we have to move forward. Su and Moa are still there, along with the rest of the Kamis, and the inclusion of new dancers. While it may take some getting used to, I will support this band knowing that every event that they are in they give 200% of a performance, and make my purchase of a ticket as money well spent to witness an electrifying and, truly, a one of a kind experience with this band.
The old Babymetal is gone, long live Babymetal

  • @LennonBlake

I appreciate the video. I didn't see it coming, Yui leaving the band, but more so I didn't realize how hard it would hit me that Babymetal had become so fractured. I saw them live in Nashville recently and it was NOTHING like the shows they are known for. The set was VERY short. They didn't play Doki Morning or Headbangeeer and a host of other favorites. Those backup dancers in all this Egyptian-esqe priestess garb just plain doesn't work. I was speechless and in awe of Su-metal's and Moa-metal's performances when they came out on stage and looking back, that was the concert for me because they don't come around here so much. I love these girls and I wish I could've seen them they way they were obviously meant to be seen. Explosions, giant fox heads breathing smoke, and god in heaven why didn't they play Onedari Daisakusen. They lost 1/3 badassness now that Yui is gone. Shit

This is gonna happen eventually, band will live on but performers will change, I saw them live in Chicago open air and they were fantastic. But they're a corporate thing, the names gonna be around for a long time but once the girls are old enough they will be replaced. I switched to band-maid cuz that's a fucking awesome band with genuine musicians and even though they're not metal but they certainly are their own thing.

He always showed his self just as another human being, never as the typical distant and untouchable diva. I loved seeing the family pics he shared and how happy he was when performing. He was able to connect with his fans despite not knowing them.

You can't change so many things at once and expect it to still work, especially when it should never have worked in the first place. The original band and girls pulled of a feat of magic by getting metal fans to enjoy songs that were half K-pop but I kinda think the magic is gone now and in the end metal fans are metals fans, not K-pop fans.
