Yeah, so I just wanted to point out (tho a lot of people already did) that the Dark World isn't the Twilight Realm. The Dark World is just a corrupted version of the Sacred Realm, so yeah

Simple, the mirror was only shattered in the child timeline. The gate is still open in the adult timeline, the downfall timeline and the potential timeline that splits off of Skyward Sword.

In the adult timeline could exist another arbiter's ground as the hero is triumphant but in the downfall timeline will something like that exists?

The twilight realm and dark world are NOT the same, guys. The dark world is the sacred realm
There isn't anything that says the Twilight realm isn't the sacred realm, Aka the Silent Realm. The dark realm would only appear when Ganondorf obtains the triforce, but the way the sacred realm has reflected the physical and spiritual realms of hyrule is much older then just the dark world. It's used here as a prime example of what the twilight world might be like, and reference other mirrors that have the ability to move between worlds. If the twilight realm is the sacred realm, and we know for a fact already the dark world is, and there is another mirror that can take link to the sacred realm, then we have a second possible mirror. Eitherway the existance of more magic mirrors isn't impossible.
But the Twilight realm is also a Sacred realm. This video even describes it as such. So I have to disagree. I think across the timelines these are equivalent places.

@@mindsight9732 well the twilight realm is clearly well established before ganondorf's execution scene, which takes place shortly after ocarina of time, meaning the twilight realm has to exist before ocarina. Yet in ocarina, the sacred realm is uncorrupted, only becoming the dark world when ganondorf touches the triforce. The interlopers also wanted to take over the sacred realm and get the triforce, so why would they then be sealed in the sacred realm, with the triforce?
Oh also by the way, the magic mirror doesn't lead to the dark world, it brings you back from the dark world
@@GuyWestcott That is easily challenged, We can establish the Twili have been there long enough for Minda's generation, and probably atleast 2 earlier ones to have never seen the world outside Twili. And we must assume Ganondorf was executed within 1, 7 or even 30 years of OoT in the child timeline. What we don't know is where the Twili Origin begins, and how long Ganondorf was in the twilight realm, after all HE was sealed by the sages and not the light spirits. He could easily have been floating in twilight for a year or a century or more before finding and then revealing himself to Zant. We know that Hyrule in TP is much more advanced then OoT, and most notable time difference is in the Zora, not only having a Queen now, but that Queen is not Ruto. Even without the Zora aspect pointing to 300+ years, the Hylian advancement and perspective implies that hylians living during OoT are either the oldest living hylians or dead, as the main source of information on the arbitor grounds from records. there seems to be atleast a 80 years gap between Ganondorfs execution and return, with the potential for it to be much longer. Even renovating the Spirit temple to make arbitor grounds would take years, yet isn't rediculed for taking time.
To correct you, the Twili are pretty well established by the time Ganondorf's disembodied head appears to Zant, not specifically at the time of the execution. Unacknowledged head cannon is the bane of theory crafting, and why this videos strive not to present false facts, and differentiate popular opinions from things that can confirmed in games.
The Magic Mirror does in fact return you to the light world, wherever you use it outside of a dungeon, it will leave a active golden portal that closes on your return through it, or reactivation of the mirror elsewhere overwriting the previous portal, take for instance aquirring the Bombos medallion. We can see a similar golden ring in the magic circle placed under Link when he arrives in the Twilight Realm. We can't say the mirrors are exactly the same, but they are clearly very similar in nature and effect, almost appearing like they could be a pair of items made at the same time to facilitate cross communication or travel. Is it a fact, no, and you are most welcome to disagree, but it was relevant to be brought up when exploring the topic of the Twili Mirror. The main difference between the Mirror in aLttP and TP is size, color, portability, and direction. If they are linked items, then the Twili Mirror could theoretically move through it's portal, but wouldn't be able to open a portal from the Twili Realm to Hyrule, where as the Magic Mirror is show to be able to do the opposite. By no means is it Cannon, but it's still a relevant topic of dicussion to the Twili Realm that can't be confirmed or denied.
Make a wish to the Triforce: "I wish there was an unbreakable gateway to the twilight realm in Hyrule".
And that's it, it's back. Actually, the Triforce can make anything happen lol

Yes but realistically speaking would someone be able to attain the triforce and have this wish? Maybe a wish that has that as a side effect is more likely. Maybe in some other version of the world like, lorule but not lorule, the legendary hero wishes to unite the worlds after the destruction from their Gannon equivalent. Thus not only twilight realm but also lorule termina and the one I just made up to justify this would all try to meld with Hyrule

The only timeline in which a wish from the completed Triforce occurred was briefly in the Adult Timeline and a twice in the Downfall Timeline.

I think they usually ask have these guys even bothered to play the games they talk about as the games themselves explicitly contradict main points of the theory.
i think that the zonai might be decendants of the twili, as the green zonai-spirit-magic sort of energy have the same color as some of the twili and parts of the palace of twilight.
Unfortunately the magic is not confirmed to be Zonai but if it is your idea would make perfect sense

I hypothesize that the twili are the decendants of the gerudo and sheikah + interlopers sent to the twili realm.
Its possible that the sheikah genetic component is from 2 waves the first being the interlopers who might have a relation to the sheikah due to being really good at magic and the group sheikah who betrayed Hyrule's royal family before OOT .
I also hypothesize that The sheikah are descended from humans who worked for the lanayru corporation before skyward sword.
And if the interlopers and sheikah from the civil war who fought against the hyrule are the twili's ancestors it proves the sheikah have fought against the royal hylian family 3 times in the history of zelda the 3rd being the Yiga.
If the twili returned to hyrule they could of became the zonai. Which means the zonai and sheikah could be distant relatives. Which would explain alot maybe the zonai found the kokiri art style appealing and applied it to their civilization.
Zonal seems to be inhabitants of the faron province in botw, minish cap and four swords adventures (FSA is the next Zelda game in the timeline)

I feel like the Twilight Realm existed a long, loooong time before the beginning of the game’s plot. So it would make sense that, even though the mirror was shattered in one timeline, it could still exist in others.
In other timelines, Ganon wouldn’t be banished to the Twilight Realm, wouldn’t try to take over with Zant, and Midna wouldn’t need to shatter it. Despite the mirror not being in any other games, there could very well be other means to gain access to the Realm somewhere in the other timelines, mirror or not.
Maybe all the similar mirrors where attempts to make a new mirror of twilight 🤔

The detail of Midna saying s
"See you later" at the end always made me emotional, as she says the same things many times throughout the game. After you get the tears of light and she has to return to your shadow she always says "see you later". It happens at other times too and as much as I adore her and wanna believe it implies a possible meeting in the future, it seems more likely to be a nod to her character and her saying it throughout your adventure.

The only issue with the dark world being the twilight realm is that the game and other sources states that the dark world is a twisted sacred realm
Twisted by the triforce acting on Ganondorf's Heart/feeling. the sacred realm dates back to SS and has many names in english one of which being the silent realm which has it's own color hues. We aren't really show what shape the sacred realm was in before immediatly before OoT, or what shape it was in after the Interlopers got access to the triforce.

When in LLTP it is distorted into the dark world.
Is there any kind of significance or conclusion that can be drawn from the fact that
A. Ganon killed the WATER sage
B. Dark Link often also appears in the Water Temple (OoT)
C. The interlopers and the dark world mirror in Four Swords?
Dark Link has always been one of the most mysterious recurring enemies/concepts in the game, and I feel like there is alot more to it than what we see at face value.
It could return and I’ll admit it would be great to have a Link to the Past style game with two worlds to explore but sometimes, it’s best to leave what was great alone so not to destroy its legacy.
Twilight Princesses biggest story point is the two realms merging and the ending to that game was perfect with no cliffhangers in sight.
To return feel more like fan service then a genuine reason to go back.

I don't mind if they make a story connection for the over arching timeline of zelda but twilight princess's story is done. If they try and bring them back from the twilight, it'd ruin the story.

I'll be honest here, I don't even care what the sequel is about if the devs somehow work any of the Twilight Realm, Lorule, Koholint, Termina, Labrynna, Holodrum, Subrosia, Wayway, Hytopia, or even Calatia, Koridai, or Arcadia, into the games as physical locations or separate maps. I want more Zelda lore than "Hyrule exists, oh no [insert dark force], we must defeat." There has to be more to their world than just Hyrule.

Pandaoniman, you've summed up my frustration of the series so far. More Zelda Lore is where the series needs to go. Superficiality is totally unacceptable and out of place when it comes to Zelda.
Walking through that twisted tunnel at the start of Major's mask have similar properties to the forest temples hallways led to a twisted world with matching characters from Hyrule, heck some Termina unique characters were recognized in twilight princess and the heroes bow from termina is found in death mountain. I'm more curious what that twisted power is that can alter an entire planet on either side.
I hope we can go to the moon it Termina ever gets a sequel. Really looking forward to Candace of Hyrule Skull Kids story, I also hope Nintendo finds a way to make that story canon, there are really no plot holes, it follows all the rules, aside from a 2 outside characters accidentally finding themselves in Hyrule.

I'm glad you noticed how similar the "Twilight world" and "Dark World", there were even more similarities as well; the fact both are an apparent 'copy' of the real Hyrule, both the Links from ALTTP and TP had an alternate animal form when entering this world (Rabbit and Wolf) respectively and both of these games feature someone other than Ganon being built up as the final boss trying to unleash the hidden world only to have Ganon emerge as the actual final boss, both games also even had a dramatic climb up the main spire of Hyrule castle which is surprisingly not the most common thing in Zelda games that have Hyrule castle...
Except that the Dark World was confirmed in either the encyclopedia and/or the historia is actually a creation of Ganon after he was sealed with the Triforce of power in the sacred realm.

13:03 Actually the Magic Mirror transports Link from the Dark World to the Light World, it cannot take Link to the Dark World.
I'm also unsure why there is speculation regarding the Dark World when it's description and nature is fully explained in A Link To The Past.
Don't get me wrong I like the brainstorming presented here but at this part of the video it's done surrounding impossible circumstances.
And in the Encyclopedia it's stated that it was originally the sacred realm and that Ganon corrupted it when he was sealed with the Triforce of power
It is used to travel from the Dark World back to the Light World.[2] When returned to the Light World, Link can go back to the Dark World by touching the sparkling spot that appears where he returned to the Light World. Notably, the 8 bit magic sparkle could represent a similar thing to the golden triforce symbol on the ground when link arrives in the twilight realm. This lends significant speculation that they are sister items.
@@jonathannixon5391 LttP explicitly says this in game as well. I get the feeling their LttP knowledge is secondhand.
That said their points kind of still stand despite the inaccuracy.
It's also worth pointing out that the Dark World has more than one entrance, but no real exits. Heck during the course of the game Hyrule Castle's front gate becomes an entrance as well. The Magic Mirror being the only way to leave and it was recieved from a descendant of one of the seven sages (one of the maiden's grandfathers). This supports the story prior to LttP that the Sages sealed the Sacred Realm after it transformed into the Dark World. They closed off all the exits but had a way of leaving probably for emergencies. (Ironically, if Link had died during LttP while in the Dark World, Ganon would have been able to take the mirror and leave the Dark World sooner.)

The Twili are my favorite race in Zelda, so nothing would make me happier than to see them make a return. I think it’s definitely possible for them to make a comeback, it is Zelda after all so anything is possible. Really enjoyed the video!

They also forgot to mention that Zelda, during the Champions Crowning memory, directly references the Twilight BY NAME. As such, new theory;
A Twili becomes a companion to Link in BOTW 2 after finding a rune that lets him teleport there if he’s in front of special black rocks. The Twili adds Magic to links arsenal like it was supposed to be in Twilight Princess and allows him some magic. They use both the Triforce and the Fused Shadow’s Magic to defeat Ganondorf once he reincarnates.

Why does everyone forget the fact that Zant, with Ganondorf's power, is able to exit the Twilight Realm without the Mirror of Twilight? It's not like he could use the Mirror from inside the Realm, and the sages sure didn't just leave it active for ages.
And Midna exited the realm also without the mirror.

Bear in mind that when Link first travels to the Dark World in ALttP, he is transformed into an animal - just like TP Link when he first travels into a twilight covered part of Hyrule.
Just realizing this now.
I feel that the talk about shadow and light being two sides of the same coin is about Hyrule and its "dark parallel" Lorule, which makes me think that Midna was hinting that there was another gate hidden in Lorule.
If Link and Midna had a son, would he look like dark Link?

I have pictured in my mind read it if you will so with link having the soul of the hero obviously it'd go to his body form in version 1: we have a greyish blue skinned link (midna skinned almost) he may have the powers of twili due to the fact that midna is his mom he might have twili markings as well.
Version two: seeing as though there is two genders let's say they had a daughter or so a princess as midna is her mother she may be as or more powerful than midna as both of her parents are very powerful in many ways again we see twili markings but maybe hylian features like face and ears nose as well.

0:13 That makes two of us. Sure, a lot of people say Twilight is just a rehashing of Ocarina, but it's so much more...
I'm not sure how to explain why it's so good; I guess it just did everything right. Midna is easily the best companion character of any game I've ever played (helpful but not annoying, good evolution), and [spoiler] her desparate hour may just be the most powerful moment in all of gaming [/spoiler]. The music just fits the game's tone perfectly, and I think the graphics held up surprisingly well for their level of detail.
If Nintendo does it right (and this is Nintendo we're talking about; I trust they will), the Twilight realm could be a good fit for BotW 2, given what the initial trailer showed us. Sure the original game wrapped up well, but is anything ever permanent in this series? Hyrule's prosperity, Link's Triumph, and even Ganon's death all get reversed pretty frequently. The Mirror of Twilight was already destroyed and repaired once (that we know of). Who's to say the Twilight Realm can't make a return.
Edit: I've also seen it pointed out that the Mirror of Twilight was the only (known) way of reach the Twilight Realm FROM THE "LIGHT WORLD." Going the other way might be entirely possible. Or better yet, the series has included time travel on multiple occasions. What if someone simply traveled back to the Era of Twilight?

In the Downfall Timeline it should technically exists somewhere(but Midna would probably not be alive during the events of BotW/BotW2

You know there was a good comparison between the dark world from A Link to the past, and the twilight realm from twilight princess.
Twilight realm and the dark world is like a prison.
In twilight princess anyone who belongs to the light world turns into imprisoned souls, but Link turns into a wolf instead.
In a Link to the past anyone who belongs to the light world turns into monsters, but Link turns into a pink rabbit instead.
I was also surprised they didnt mention both ALTTTP and TP Links turned into animals that represent their soul when exposed to the other world. Also like you said normal people turn into monsters/spirits. It is another point that the dark world and twilight realm could be the same place, even though it is stated that the dark world is a twisted sacred realm.

I defn recommend playing the games, but do be aware that they made some mistakes in this video. The Dark World already has a story and explanation within A Link To The Past, and the Magic Mirror cannot take Link to the Dark World, but only take him back from it to the Light World. I'm surprised they made these kind of major errors...

Noah 1204 I am also a newbie in the Zelda universe my first Zelda game was of course the legend of Zelda breath of the wild the previous year 2019 in December in my cousin 's Nintendo switch . Since that I fell in love with that open world atmosphere in that game and now I am trying to get my own Nintendo switch by scoring 90 percent marks in my exams .

What if the twilight realm is a dilapidated version of sky loft? Just thinking about how every location, including the one you can explore, is floating. That could just be to give it a nether worldly or void like vibe to it, but what if it is a segmented sky loft? Just a thought

The mirror in Lurelin village is most likely the dark mirror since they're descendants of the zonai that inhabited the faron region, where the mirror was hidden in the forest temple
MegaVirus700 there is zero proof of that. Creating a champion states by a developer that the zonai’s only purpose was to give a sense of ancient and ruin. They are a called a mystery tribe so the developers wouldn’t have to explain them or give them back story.

I thought the dark world in LttP was the sacred realm which ganon transformed into the dark world after receiving his divine wish, doing so because he was unable to escape to the light world.
The magic mirror in A Link to the Past DOES NOT transfer Link from the Light World to the Dark World, only from the Dark World to the Light World.

Other than that I appreciate the ideas put in the video but those are two major blows against uniting ALttP's lore to Twilight's. Similar concepts, but very different implications.

My point of the Magic Mirror wasn't 100% for proof. Mainly just a comparable item as it DOES transfer link from world to another. Between the light and darkness, yes I admit I missed out the fact that it's a one way system but it doesnt break what I wa trying to imply.

The mirror in a link to the past takes you to ganon's dark, warped version of the sacred realm. The game tells you that, that is what the dark world really is.
Maybe, because the new legend of Zelda gameplay shows how the new hand works, allows you to go through things, and is in a greenish color similar to the spirits in twilight princess. This could resemble one of the artifacts keeping ganondorf in place by when link killed him, trapping him again in the twilight realm, and when the hand was released like it was in the trailer, it shows him escaping again. So that hand could probably be one of the keys too getting back to the twilight realm

I really need to replay Twilight Princess. It was probably my least favorite Zelda game, and I didn't even mind the Wii controls.
I always felt like Midna didn't say goodbye to Link because it hurt too much to say goodbye. There was obviously some affection there, whether or not it was romantic.
What I really don't get though is why she broke the mirror. Neither realm is inherently evil. Evil existed in both realms, independent of one another, so severing the bridge doesn't really solve or prevent any problems. Its like trying to prevent bank robberies by banning cars. Any tool people use can be used for good or evil. THAT'S KIND OF THE WHOLE POINT OF THE TRIFORCE LEGEND!! Zant and Ganon may have been able to combine their power, but because of that bridge between realms so did Link, Midna, and even Zelda unite their ambitions to combat it. The bridge was a valuable tool in realizing that goal. And without it, Zant still would've had his bad-guy agenda, as would Ganon.
Not to mention, destroying a powerful divine relic should be a little harder than crying out a tear-bomb(?)-thing (and also kind of disrespectful to the Goddesses??).
From a story-telling perspective, the choice to have her break the mirror is going against the oldest and deepest lore of the Zelda games. Not that the wielder should have the choice of how to use their power, but that the option to have that power should be erased for fear of the worst. None of it really makes sense in-universe, and I think the simplest explanation is that they just wanted it to be a big, dramatic, tear-jerky ending (which it was).
To comment about the other theories in the video I'm gonna have to replay the game.

I remember playing it when I was 10 and playing the game and getting stuck and stuck Again and again, tbh scared me a lot mainly the one cutscene when after you complete the water temple you get attacked by Zant which frightened me 😂, and then seeing the dark links. Recently replayed the game in lockdown and it’s still decently creepy 😂👍🏽

If the mirror has existed since before the events of OoT then it should exist in all three timelines. If Breath of the Wild is merging the timelines together, then that means that a version of the mirror not destroyed by Midna could exist somewhere.
Interesting. Definitely would be cool to see the Twili return, but I do have one little hole to poke in the theory. The dark world in A Link to the Past is actually the Sacred Realm that became tainted due to Ganon's influence and dark power after getting the complete Triforce.
That and the Magic Mirror takes you from the Dark World to the Light, but it cannot take Link to the Dark.

I like your guys stuff, but you missed something big. The dark world is the sacred realm tooken over by Gannon once he got the triforce in the sacred realm. The interlopers were banished to the twilight realm so they couldn't get to the triforce.
Just finished another playthrough of the game. Don't get me started how amazing this game is, I couldn't stop gushing about this game every 2 minutes. The characters, the story, the art style (those beautiful textures omg), the music, the sound design, the humor, the gameplay as a human and as a wolf, Midna, everything about the twilight culture, the plot twists. I'm just... I was forever changed by this game, it has been in my heart since I saw the first trailer all those years ago. So many things to do, so many characters to love, such beauty. I can't, man.
The issue I have with every theories around Breath of the Wild is that this game is so full of easter eggs. Hard to say if it can be more than that.

In ALttP, the Dark World is just a corrupted Sacred Realm where Ganon was sealed. The Twilight Realm is not the Sacred Realm. So the mirror in ALttP would have no connection with the Twilight Realm unless of course all of the mirrors just generally have the ability to transport between any realm and not specifically to and from the Twilight Realm/Dark World. Also, any timeline other than the child timeline could/should still have the official Mirror of Twilight since the mirror was created before OoT and would exist in every timeline, so the Twilight Realm could reappear in another game set in a separate timeline

my random thing I thought of as an easter egg, maybe in BotW2 there is a secret mini dungeon which had a few familiar faces
such as the twilight monsters ect, once at the end of the dungeon a cutscene would play, it would show Link walking up to the Fused Shadow, then when Link got close enough the Fused Shadows would be sucked into a twilight portal and you could hear Midna's laugh. *Keep in mind this is a random thought I had and it MOST likely is NOT in the actual game!*

Bro…the Dark World in ALttP came about as a result of the Golden Land(Sacred Realm) becoming twisted by the wish Ganon made on the Triforce.
It had 0 to do with the Twili aiding Ganondorf in twisting a version of hyrule into it.

I always took the 'see you later' as her way of saying goodbye because unlike 'goodbye' which is a finality, 'see you later' is less sad, it implies you aren't seeing this person for the last time. So after her adventure with link it was too sad to say good bye for good so it was just a 'see you later'

The various worlds shown floating in twilight are showing the other dark worlds in games like lorule and termina. The game makers are displaying the different and disconnected worlds yet with enough power, one could reach one world from the next.

I’m a streamer who decided to beat all the Zelda games on stream. My favorite timeline is the one that Majora, Twilight and Four Swords fall under. I really hope that in the new sequel they do tie up some loose ends. Especially with twili. Thank you for this video.
So I haven't yet watched the full video, got about halfway through then another little theory popped into my head. At 5:39 we can see the lower left quarter of the mirror, and in Breath of the Wild, there is a shattered monument that looks almost identical this mirror shown in the video. What if, the remains of the mirror have somehow survived the huge timespan and multiple great calamities (at least two, one 10,000 years before Breath of the Wild, and one more 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild) and has found its way now to the beachfront in Breath of the Wild's Lurelin Village instead of in the ruins of the Arbiter's Grounds in the Gerudo Desert. The remains of the mirror like object on Palmorae Beach looks a lot like the mirror show in the video, but seemed to serve an unknown purpose other than having text written around all four fragments of the object's pieces supposedly translating to directions on how to reveal a shrine. Now there may be some evidence against this theory in that I don't see any other pieces of the mirror shown in the video at 5:39 unlike in Breath of the Wild where we can find the remaining 3 fragments of the lookalike object. I believe that while in reality it's more than likely just a reference to Twilight Princess by the devs similar to how Darmani from Majora's Mask is carved into the mountains by Goron City, but from a lore perspective I believe it is possible for the shattered mirror like object on Palmorae Beach by Lurelin Village is possibly the Mirror of Twilight from an age that has long since passed
This game means so much to me from memories with my older brother as kids. I love the game so much its my favourite game of all time. Botw is great but old classics are best. I'm not one for doom or stuff like that, just old games I grew up with.

I personally cannot help but plead and beg in my mind that the Twili make a reappearance within the BoTW sequel. Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I chose to play as a 12 year old girl, and it still remains my absolute favourite. The Twili are a fascinating Race with o much to give us- perhaps someday Nintendo will let us explore MORE into the world of he Twili.… pipe dream, perhaps, but one I cannot help wishing for, either.
