- Santana's turn-of-the-century resurgence provided a massive influence on my early guitar progress. "Smooth" burned up the air waves in 1999 and was my mainstream gateway to the classic Latin/Rock sound. Released in 1971, Santana III brought the addition of 17 year old Neal Schon (Journey), and featured "No One To Depend On" as the second single. This song's harmonized guitar intro, gang vocals and call-and-response guitar solo section creates multiple layers of Blues based tones. REMINDER: "One Take Weekly" includes No Overdubs - everything you hear is as presented by the video and expert mixing by Studiomaster, Richard Williams!

Hey, That's the same dude!
At first - I thought it was 7 different band mates. But then I thought, are they doing a Beatles kinda uniform thing; same shirt? Then I thought, are these septuplets? Maybe Don’t answer; keep it a mystery. Either way, this rocks. Great singing and musicianship; it does the original song from Santana III justice. Carlos Santana and Neil Schon would like it. I especially like the electronic DJ-table-looking percussion. You can hit it with hands OR sticks. I didn’t know that existed and it looks really cool and most importantly it sounds great too. Very creative and it’s worth it for the harmony vocals alone. I think Gregg Rolie himself would be impressed with this - maybe even jealous a little bit. I’m not a big stickler about vocals but man that really did sound good, dude. Or dudes?
