    Simone said something very important. You don’t always use the forehand to the center player to defend the middle. I have this discussion with many players who have been playing longer then me and they refuse to believe it. Tactics can change over time with more knowledge learned from experience. I’ve had players yell at me for taking opponents balls coming from their right side to the middle with my backhand from the right side. Always forehand, always forehand! No, it’s who is in best position takes the middle when shading correctly.

      you might want to rewatch the video; Simone is saying the exact opposite of what you've concluded. In fact, she's saying she'd never partner with someone who does what you're doing.

      I have found that unless my partner on the right side of n v z has a kill shot that is coming from his directly opposite opponents attempt at a cross court shot or either opponents ball is coming from the middle and going to the middle , I should take my cross court opponents cross court shot. In essence, it depends upon where the ball is coming from unless a kill shot is there.

    Awesome!!(again!) I especially liked the first part about the shot being out if it is going to your outside. And, funny, that only a couple of weeks ago, I asked a forum question about whether I should be cheating my ready position to the forhand side when in the position Simone was in. That cross-court, speed-up shot is what I call the "I hate my partner shot" since if it is anticipated it is returned hard usually to your partner who ends up eating it before they knew what happened!

    I also noticed that Simone's body was slightly open, and facing more to Phil, making it easier for Simone to hit her forehand.

    Yes. "Buy a Backhand!!!" LOL! A weakness of MANY Players is that they are not proficient at Backhand (Crosscourt) Dinks! One Drill that I like to do is to play the "Dink Game," where Players can ONLY hit Backhand Crosscourt Dinks until the Point is Won. Let me know if you would like more information on how to play the "Dink Game."

    • @MichaelAMcDermott
      @MichaelAMcDermott Před 3 lety +1

      As an example, NOTICE HOW PATIENT Ben Johns is in hitting Backhand Crosscourt Dinks during the 2021 US Open Pickleball Championships where he consistently hits a backspin Backhand to control the point and allow his dominant Forehand to put away shots, and then, to allow Simone Jardim to hit winners when they are presented to her. czcams.com/video/OJaWBSZfE6Q/video.html
