The sound of that engine and the up shift and down shifting is just great. Catherine Bach isnt too bad either.
My only complaint: why didn't SHE drive the Countach? I grew up watching Dukes of Hazzard and the Kartrashians and Miley Cyrus can't compare to her in any way.
I’m still pissed. I went to a car show and she was there and I didn’t get a picture or anything with her. I thought she was just in dukes of hazard not cannonball run too!!! Missed opportunity right there. I could’ve got a 55mph sign autographed.
Best Lamborghini ever
Damn a red Countach with rear wing is one of the coolest and probably most recognizable cars in history
TheBlaggert - 2nd only to the black one in the first film with the front wing.
Eh, when I was a kid in the 80's the red countach poster was one of the most popular posters around, I know I had one.
your correct my friend, the original Lambo is indeed the black one,a TRUE MOVIE ICON.
I was a kid in the 90s and had the poster too. And a black one as rc car.
Its the air vents I think is so distinguished about the lambo 😉
I remember seeing this movie back in the day, and I thought the part where the Lambo changes from white to red was the coolest thing ever. Plus, having a hot chick like Catherine Bach in the car certainly didn't hurt!
Didn't Hotwheels (1:64) came up with that feature as well in the 80's. No Countaches alas.
The Cannonball Run movies were a staple of my childhood. 30 years I've been watching them movies and, god willing, I'll be watching them for at least 30 more.
Boy I would do anything to see times like this again! The good old days for me. So simple in these days! No BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!
Ryan Goulet This and The Gumball Rally..the A.C. Cobra vs 365 GTB 4 Daytona..Fuk Fast and Furious
You know it.These Politicians are making life so difficult. The old days were so much simpler & movies like this were better.
I think they should remake this movie, new cameos, fast cars, shit would be lit
@@samfraulino are you joking? Political correctness and diversity would ruin it.
Hollywood currently destroys every old franchise it touches, so no thanks.
The kids today have no idea how bad the current time is. So sad...
@@onepunchbud1472 Yes NOTHING ruins a movie like showing something other than white people. Lets stop the world so you can get off.
Perhaps THE best advertisement placement ever.
Impossible to not be in a happy mood after watching this intro :)
The Cannonball Run Series has one of the best casts I’ve ever seen
One of the most iconic automobiles ever made. Truly the stuff that dreams are made of. This was when Lamborghini was still their own company and before they were purchased by Audi. You will never see another design quite like that one. It's my opinion that the new Lamborghinis are just not quite the same. Uncomfortable yes, impractical yes, but truly the stuff that dreams are made of.
Best description I have heard is "These cars are made for posters, not for comfort"
@@ColinRichardson The two mythics cars of the time : The Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Testarossa are very poors cars in fact for confort and mechanic in fact. But their look still nowadays kicking ass. ^^
The unrealistic part of this sequence is that it didn’t include a scene of spending fifteen minutes at a gas station and getting caught because of it.
Pretty sure they’ve got a brick under the front wheel when the girls are out of the car - brakes probably failed! I wonder how many Lambo’s they needed to have as backups.
Have Both Movies on DVD,LOVE 'EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Owned this VHS as a child and I can not recall how many times I have rewound and played this intro while my mom kept yelling at me to turn down the TV.
As Doug DeMuro says it's the most iconic car ever made. The music mixed with that exhaust note is fantastic. Even though every thing speeded up X2.
Truly the most beautiful car ever conceived by man ...and the automotive love of my life ,from all I've read and seen its a problem child to own, but like any problem child ,you spend most of your time annoyed at it ,but if anyone tried to take it away you'd kill them
I've gotta include the Ferrari F40 along with this Beauty. I can't decide which car i love more.
Funniest and the greatest thing about this opening sequences that they did all that trickery with the cops but they’re not even in the race yet!!🤣
great movie ,great song, great cars and great looking chicks
There’s some energy in that song!!
Anybody else want to watch this now? I wonder how many times that Lambo broke down during the making of the movie?! 🤣
When I was a kid I just drank in every frame of this. And yet now as an adult I can't help but notice that the interior of the Countach changes from red to tan when the white paint gets hosed off.
It doesn’t. So many people thought this. The red you see is the door shut, Look closer and you can see the tan door card. They used one car and it belonged to John Schneider at the time.
The Cannonball Run 1 & 2 where part of my childhood and I watched them on the day I found out that the Bandit and J.J passed away and this song I listened to this song in high school
Best part of whole movie. A mockery of the first.
Oh the days of speeded up film footage :D
Way better than Vin Diesel sitting in half a car in front of a green screen! haha
Say that's a couple of great lookin chicks let's nail em 😂😂😂
Used to watch this as a kid over and over and have the old matchbox cars all over the carpet 🤣
I will not most likely walk down the hallway at work and say, "Man! A couple of great looking chicks!" And get fired.
And because the chicks are LGBTQxyzabc whatever you’d then be arrested under the pretenses of a hate crime or some other liberal disease.
“It’ll be a weekend you’ll never forget” such an epic film and the best intro ever!
"Let's nail em". Definitely an innuendo ha ha
Everything about this so great. And reading the credits makes it just so much more so.
I ❤️ this Cannonball better than the 1st.I remember when this was new on video & my Dad rented,God I couldn’t stop dreaming about the women in the Intro!!!
It’s sad that most of these actors & actress are gone.RIP to them!
What a movie! The Lamborghini scene has always exalted me.
Best beginning to a movie, I mean, some others may come close, but man this was awesome. My brother and I wanted a Countach so bad.
46 people who dislike this have no ideal what is was like to grow up in the 80s
A car ahead of its time, so good it's being re released 50 years later!
@Satanic Panic Fun and Games it's terrible to drive and is so hot inside it's almost unbearable

Grew up watching this and consequently, learned how to drive , that and dukes of Hazzard 🤣👍
so much silliness in the 70's
Possibly the greatest film intro ever in my opinion.1 of my fav ever films, that lambo sound is gorgeous, Catherine Bach in it as well. This film is where I also got my love of redheads, courtesy of Marilu henner😱😍😘🥰😍
¡Saludos cordiales!
You'll never see a real star studded cast like this ever again. Not enough great stars that young.
That's how you troll in a Lamborghini Countach!
I’m in tears 😭 here…. Beautiful just beautiful. Jesus that brought me right back.
Legendary Movie!!!!
1:05 HAHAHA watch oncoming traffic suddenly speed up like hell XD Still, loved this movie as a kid, still love it now :)
I got a hug from Catherine Bach at Chrysler's at Carlisle a few years ago. Daisy Duke was every dude's fantasy girlfriend in my age group. That puts me over about 200,000,000 guys in America :) Ha ha! Speed Limit = 155! These movies are fun :)
i was 14 when this movie came out in the movies good old days
Master dmchired had driver license at age 14 bought a lambghini. First c as r
Wow baby!!!
Daisy Duke + catsuit + Lamborghini Countach + Telly Savalas = top movie from the eighties!
Hal Needham and Harold Ramis made the 80s the greatest decade ever for movies
Directed by Hal Needham. The guy who also directed "Rad". All my child hood favorite movies.
"Hey thanks for the hose job!" LOLLL
I need another one with the new Countach. Keep the song exactly the same (no remixes)
Agreed unfortunately Burt Reynolds, Don DeLouise and most of the cast are now longer with us 😭
When it goes off road and gets washed you can tell the suspension went snap ping pop.
Everything about this is HORRIBLY done but its at the same time amazing.
Still loved the original movie
I wish they would have had Jerry Reed in the Cannonball Run movies, he could have been reunited with Burt Reynolds in the 2 movies, that would have been cool, I think
That Lambo looks awesome in Red
So many stars in this film. It would never be made today because of the wages of celebrities.
Yea just another super fun movie from the 80’s. The casting was unbelievable!! How did they get all these movie stars?? Just fantastic!
And I live across the freeway from the carwash. They were just starting to build Boomtown, now known as Silverton. And he's not eastbound he's southbound.
This & caddyshack were the 1st movies I saw as a child. -80s kid
one of these days I gotta get all these movies on DVD
that includes Speed Zone!
Those MIRRORS 😂 - not talking bout that Lambo
Cannbonball 1 and 2 awesome opening Lamborghini intros.
movies 80s the best.
Takes me back that cannonball run 🥰
One would have a hard time keeping up with a full speced Countach in a standard trooper car of today 😊
That movie had a lot of great stars in it along with some great cars, could we do another movie similar to this one today? Catherine Bach looks great in this movie.
Imagine if they recreated this but with all the new supercars
If they do a remake now, the supercars would be driven by fat women or unpassable troons.
Gotta love Daisy Duke
A nice red Lamborghini and Catherine Bach pushing triple digits along the California coast. If this isn't a car porno, what is?
I remember Need for Speed did a comnination of spray paint and adding a "1" to the sign back in the day. They were driving a Murcielago. I didn't catch the homage back then though
They both copied the Dukes of Hazzard, who did the 155 sign first.
They paid for a whole "155" sign when all they needed was a "1".
Loved these films!
Lamborghini Countach is the best the king of exotic sport car, marked a new rule in the design of exotic cars.
This movie came out back when the average car had bumpers sticking out and truck grills. This is a time when a Lamborghini out stand from the rest of the world. Nowdays a average everyday Corvette look as good as any of the dozens of manufactured supercars. Some how i don't get impress any longer when every month a new supercar makes its debut.
I like the first movie more, but I have to admit, the second movie had a nicer intro.
+FastCarsNoRules220 hell both intro's are great.. love that Countach sing
I also loved the third movie's intro, especially the song Perfect Crime by Rocky Burnette which is probably one of the best driving songs ever!
+FastCarsNoRules220 speed zone.. I liked that one too .. gulp huh what's that angle again you talking about Grandpa... lol yes that song is great
+ricecarkiller
How can you call yourself a car guy with a name like that? You discount an entire subcontinent's offerings without having driven each one? That's ridiculous. You don't like Rally Cars? What about JGTC - none of those cars are awesome in your opinion? Cmon man - even tho they can't turn to save their life I still enjoy a sloppy old muscle car for what it's worth. Every car company besides Smart has at least one epic vehicle in their stable
Grazie Ferruccio!!!!!
Those were the days......
What i have learned john Schneider had a payment due on his red Lamborghini and cathy mentioned she was going to be in a little movie called cannonball run 2 so because john and tom had basically walked away from DOH so he loaned the red Lamborghini to the hal Needham
Love it!
I just realized, if it wasn't for Hal Needham, we wouldn't have three of the greatest road-chase movies ever made: the 2 Cannonball Runs and Smokey & The Bandit...
And he worked with Burt on all 3 of 'em.....
And Hooper. Not a car chase film per se, but it did reunite Burt with a Trans Am and probably had the best car stunts out of the lot.
@@bigal6352 Oh damn, didn't know about that one, now I've got somethin' to look forward to for the week-end!
Much obliged, good Sir!
@@vtr0104 No problem. It's an absolute blast, but somehow always seems to slip under the radar, perhaps being overshadowed somewhat with it coming out so soon after Smokey and the Bandit. Needham and Reynolds did it as a tribute film to movie stuntmen and boy, does it show! I won't give anything away, but I know at least one of the stunts set a world record at the time.
With Burt, Sally Field and a Trans Am all reunited, Rosco P. Coltrane from the Dukes, Stringfellow Hawke from Airwolf AND Batman in it, a cool bar fight, a horse that shits on command, a ton of genuinely impressive stunts and everything exploding everywhere, short of squeezing Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleeson in there too, does it get any better than that?
@@bigal6352 Holy cow..... :|
I was invested before, but color me Sold now, that sounds almost like it's make-believe!
Burt tells a story about this - it's because Hal was living on his couch (or in his house, at least) and was broke, but he came up with this screenplay and Burt helped make it happen. They were pretty good friends.
My friend Paul and I watched this many times in the 80s, now it’s so terrible it’s almost…..good.
I miss these days 😓

No. The 70's and the 80's were probably not flawless but certainly an happier time than today.
Better days...
I used to have a corvette that used to change colour when you put cold water on it only snag was it used to rust the axles
you would have thought hotwheels would have thought of that
Great !
fun fact that rear spoiler was not on any lambo, this movie made it so populair that lambo decided to make them like that from the factory.
I believe it was Walter wolf who created the wing for his three racing countach’s. They were so popular that customers would retrospectively fit them after purchasing the car. Eventually Lamborghini started producing them
4:13 dat brake rock hahahahaa
Time stamp 2:06, that Lamborghini is singing a beautiful song
"Hey...Thanks for the hose job!!" Damn...Wish she was saying that to me...Only in my fantasies or dreams 😪😪
A fun movie. A lot better than most crap that comes out these days.
I'm 41 years old and I must have rented this VHS tape at least three dozen times during the course of my teenage years I basically have the script memorized. This is one of the most memorable openings to any movie that I can think of in my head right now. The sound of that V12 just resonates in my mind. It's crazy to think though that the guys that sprayed the car off with the big water hose I probably in there seventies now and probably still remember filming that scene. They don't make movies like this anymore and it's so sad that the vast majority of the cast is no longer with us. Rest in peace to those that we've lost from this movie.
It's a goddamn work of art. I know what you're thinking - do I mean the movie or that V12? Answer: yes.
@@dars5229 I also agree. Which do I agree on? Yes
simpler movie for simpler times.. back when movies were just valued for their entertainment
Agree to disagree - the opening to Canonball 1 had a much better car sound. Very growly. CZcams it. Also, no corny talk from the cops about hot chicks.
@@robbtarte2389 don't need to CZcams it. I've seen part 1 just as many times as I've seen part 2 and though you may be right about the growl, to me the cops talking and the girls laughing made that scene even better. It also set the mood for the movie by telling you it was gonna be a comedy. Without it, you have a countach running from cops, they could've been showing a cocaine kingpin running from cops but adding the playful joking let you know from the get go that it was going to be a funny ass movie and that you were in for a ride...oh and speaking of other parts to the Cannonball series anyone reading this can skip the unofficial part 3 called Speed Zone with John Candy and Eugene Levy. No disrespect to either of those comedy legends but that movie was a half ass attempt to revive a movie series and they blew it. Seriously the opening sequence when they skipped a Countach across a lake like they were skipping a stone? Not at all funny and just sad.
