    Nice, it's like 'make (it) work' or 'manage'. There is another expression that used to confuse me (not related to the matter) - 'can it'. I couldn't understand why people say it in a videogame. So it pretty much means 'shut up'. I wonder how it originated

      Don't take too much to heart, but a piece of advice: you can just accept what they mean and don't worry about where they came from; that way, your English will improve faster than if you bother to search for the origin of an idiom.
