Amazing work, one of the great 20thc compositions yet hardly ever performed. In western Europe and the U.S. we just keep getting fed the same old Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Mahler, Mozart etc, while many of these marvellous works by composers outside the Germanic tradition are sidelined though I think that is slowly changing and not before time.
cameronpaul You are so right!!! We should be hearing more Martinu...Janacek....Walton...Britten...Prokofiev....just to name a few great composers outside the Germanic tradition.

@@BritinIsrael Britten? No, thanks 🤢
Oui magnifique oeuvre
Magnifique interprétation !
C est une grande oeuvre. Merci.
Je ne connaissais pas c'est splendide !!!!!
Qué gran música. Gracias.
Nice to see attention given to this work. It was the subject of my master''s paper. Haunting, with its own kind of beauty
Martinú se vale de la fábula de una epopeya muy remota, para dotar de significado musical profundo a su obra. Culturalmente muy relevante!!!
Hopefully as time goes by Martinu's star will rise more and more. This is a magnificent work - it has a marvellous formality to it.
He should've written more pieces like this, instead of that crappy and boring neoclassical churn
thank you!
nice
Martinu is great. Never performed, as so many great composers. It´s a shame.
Actually Martinu's music is being performed more and more in Europe now but I'm not sure about other countries, U.S. for instance.
Who is performing?
Prague S.O./Czech Philharmonic chorus/soloists/conductor Jiri Belohlavek
Thanks for the quick response.
what language is this?
+Jeremy Kreitz Czech. :)
Bohuslav Martinu (composer) The Prague S.O./Czech Philharmonic Chorus/Jiri Belhalovek - it's a safe bet to say the language is Czech - lol
