The Boys are back
Taint no lie...
mount strat: Jimmy, SRV, Gilmore, Clapton
Jimi* Gilmour*
@@flowercoal7382 when you have good intentions but butcher the names 😅
I strongly believe John Frusciante belongs on that list , but maybe once he is retired then most will realize that
@@egoandy1188 I agree, he's great! But I wouldn't put him in front of the names listed here. He's definitely up there though
Liam Plunkett I understand , he just turned 50 few months ago , his work starts in 1988 at age of 18 , I strongly believe that once he is all done maybe 20 years or more from now that perhaps he will get recognition not only as guitarist but overall a freak of nature musician , melodies , out of this world music that just comes to him in times of sadness & happiness .
John Mayer once said this about Stevie:
There are some players that can play with his intensity, including myself, but you can only do it for about 20 seconds, and then your entire arm starts to cramp.
SRV was a legend.
My only problem with relic guitars is i can't afford one.
You should check out Fraser Guitars. The guy builds reliced Strats and Teles for around 1000 pounds
@@oskarileikos Thanks for the suggestion, i like the prices and the work seem to be top notch, Fender is bringing back the road worn series for around a 1000 pounds too.
My problem with fender relic guitars is that they aren’t really making enough NOS.
I buy used so they are relic guitars and half the price as new regular run instruments! $1399 for a new Gibson studio or a Used studio with relic job for $650 with hsc?
@@netzarim1277 Cause hardly anyone buys them
Mount Stratmore: SRV, Jimi, Gilmour, Clapton
Cough cough 🤔
When you're talking Mount Stratmore/Stratmour don't forget about Blackmore and Gilmour
Gallagher!
Blackmore - yes
Wow I literally bought one of the 3 purple ones this Sunday and it’s gonna arrive to Sweden today! I’m beyond excited!! Watching this video right now did not make it less exciting :D
Awesome enjoy the guitar. Fender CS is the best. I have 2 of them
Hey Jimmy!. Tell us about your experience?. I´m thinking about them....maybe I´ll buy one....
Since Rob moved back to to the outer reaches of the galaxy from which he came, Lee has really stepped up his guitar playing... often at the start of jams when there's a closeup of the guitar, I think it's Pete playing when really it's Lee!
He has been improving pretty steadily over the past few years. He gives me hope that even an old dog like me can still learn new tricks.
Des O'Connor where did Rob move?
K G Best thing he did for the Andertons channel!
Liked his input in the early days, not so much towards the latter!
@@Kennykoo65 Think he's gone to Malta where his wife is from, not sure if it's a permanent move though
Captain and Pete the best duo in Andertons
I'm not a fan of relic'ed guitars, but if you complain about them, you better have never ever ever bought a pair of torn, frayed or pre-washed jeans before.
Pre washed is like a sanded neck, just makes it more comfortable
No. Never had used jeans. Prefer to wear them in myself. Just like a guitar. Would you buy a relic’d 1965 GTO that looked like someone drove it backwards through a lake but drove like a dream? Why not beat it up yourself?
Don't buy pre used looking clothes nor pre used looking guitars. I think they look like ass but I respect if it's your thing then by all means jam away.
Have never bought and would NEVER buy either!
outcastmonkeys Totally agree!
My ex had a "DP" tattoo, but she's never even heard Danish Pete play.
Please, correct me if I am wrong, but, I think "DP" stands for something else doesn't it? LOL
@@mseabs741 Depends on if you are into Deep Purple or adult play I guess...or both ;)
@@staszewaM No disrespect intended. The original post was just a bit ambiguous that's all.
@@mseabs741 My post was a bit playful, a 'winky' way of saying that indeed, it might stand for something 18+ related, so no disrespect taken :)
YEAH, BUDDY I'M THINKING THAT MEANS SOMETHING ELSE...A PINK FLOYD SONG COMES TO MIND...
I just love you guys. So many guitar review channels to watch and I come back to you each time. Not pretentious, you have fun, great set up. To the point as well as fun back and forth. Thank you for the effort and love you put into your channel. Big thumbs up.
Lee, we like to hear what Pete has to say also. And we like his playing too. It is inspiring how enthusiastic you guys are about what you do, and I recently bought a PRS (SE Paul’s Guitar) primarily because of videos from you guys and Paul. Thanks for your videos, they are very much enjoyed and appreciated! And those Relic Telecasters sound great!
I love these videos, it's a dream come true to have Fender Custom Shop build guitar to your specifications. And as always, some great tones from Pete and Lee.
i am from Texas and Texas T or Texas Tea (whichever you prefer) means oil so that is a perfect name for that color since in the right light it shows the flek
It also happens to be the coolest new color they have.
OMG, lol, they SAVAGED Reverb and it's fee increases! Bravo, gentlemen!
Slightly off subject but, Lee, I have really enjoyed watching you become a very good guitar player.
Same, that time he jammed with Guthrie Govan was really cool
The world NEEDS more of Pete's purple Telecaster.
Got my Strat in hand still longing after those Teles.
I’ve watched for over 10 years and reckon Pete is playing better than ever. So effortless.
I’d have to nominate John Frusciante as the more contemporary Mount Stratmore addition.
On an entertainment point of view these are the kind of videos I really like.
You don't really need to try and sell the guitars as they'll basically sell themselves, Lee & Pete just seem to genuinely enjoy playing and talking about the guitars.
It makes an easy watch.
It's so good to see Lee so engaged and happy. Beautiful guitars
Each to their own obviously, but twice now when I *wanted* to buy a Fender Custom Shop - I walked out with a Suhr! :D
I LOVE your Fender (especially Custom Shop) videos!! I think that purple Strat is gorgeous! Thanks lads!
Love the relic work myself, would be interesting to see the same spec customs, without the relic and then which sold first.
Love the work gentlemen, I’m mighty jealous!
For Mt. Startmore I'd have to put Ritchie Blackmore along with Stevie and Jimi and Jeff. Wrote that before you said 'Mount Blackmore,' so that suits me fine. Enjoyed this guys. I know you are in the selling instruments, amps etc, but you do it with such a sense of fun that pulls you in. Much thanks Captain Lee and Sweet Pete.
just when i think i've been tempted by all the purple and gold guitars possible....you boys bring another one around
Lee improvement is really impressive, good job!!! Now your playing is rich of soul, not only scales, just music ;)
"The Italian guy with a cap that took a pic with you two at Andertons last September"
LEES PLAYING HAS BECOME SO GOOD NOW A DAYS
The "Surf Sound" that they play at 10:42 is AMAZING and relaxing! I could listen to them all day!
They both nailed the intro, but man... that jazzy last solo Pete did in the intro is probably the best he’s ever done. Soooo good!!!!
So good to see you in the same room! Give ms hope.
I've always wanted to open a new Custom Shop Fender just to see what the new guitar smell is like...
It's a smell like no other...
It’s the most beautiful smell ever , the nitro , the rosewood , the case , the leather strap hmmmmmm
Oof
I wanna be Fender's designated smell quality checker that checks the smell of all the guitars
I've got a '58 Strat in SeaFoam Green with the Certificate signed by J. Page. .That's John Page to you. Still smells good to me. Best, Pete.
Mount Stratmore:
Dick Dale, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, The Edge.
Surely the Edge is on Mount Delay or Mount Triplet
Honorable Mentions: Ritchie Blackmore, Rory Gallagher. Maybe I'd even exchange Stevie for Ritchie
@@philmus1 but he's also a great Strat Player! Of course he plays a lot guitars... but I think he had a big influence on one's imagination of what to do with a Strat, added a specific sound that's connected with the Strat.
@@TheJoern Early days he played a lot of Gibson's, including Firebirds. Surely there should be an honourable mention to Richard Thompson who basically invented British folk rock on a strat.
I don’t get love from 🇬🇧 ?
Love the relic look if it's done right, and these all look done right! Very cool.
They look and sound amazing. I would love to try one of those custom shop guitars one day :)
Got my first vintage/relic tele (40th Anniversary squire mocha ) thanks Pete I did not like. till I seen your purple tele
And I love it so much I have 12 guitars and I pick this one up all the time now.
That purple strat is gorgeous, ordered my new Martin SC-13e off you guys last Friday. Can’t wait for it to be new guitar day!
Not just looks but plays great as well... Congratulations on the new guitar & thanks for tuning in!
Great sounding, looking guitars and playing. Bored to tears with the relic disclaimer every time you get a new batch.
You Guys Rock And I Love My Relic And I Don’t Worry about The Paint When Letting People Handle It. 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
I bought a brand new Stratocaster some years ago, and fell over as I was leaving the shop, knocking a chunk out of the lower bout (no, I wasn't drunk: it was winter and the steps were icy) . Instant relic! And I saved myself a few thousand pounds in the bargain!
Seriously, I'm not going to hate on relics, even though I don't care for them myself. But you posed a question at the beginning, as to why someone would buy an expensive Stratocaster copy (I prefer "homage"... [tongue in cheek mode off]) rather than the real article. Personally, I would happily buy a British "Strat" hand made to my own specifications, so that is unique to me, and that is set up is to my liking, straight from the factory. That doesn't mean to say I would turn down a Fender version: in fact I do have a genuine Fender Stratocaster. And yes, it's the one I "relic-ed" falling over.
Oh my god that Texas Tea Tele. I thought my GAS has been cured or at least it shouldn’t recur in the next 6 months... but oh boy...
Texas Tea is really the best colour they've come up with in a long time.
And the adonized silver pickguard! What a gorgeous combo!
Regarding yellowing with age - I have a '87 American Standard Strat (in Torino Red), and its pickguard and controls have yellowed considerably. However, the pickup covers have not yellowed at all. As I've been the sole owner, I know these are all original parts. The yellowing on the pickguard is due to UV light - under the controls there remains a white ring. Also, paint on this guitar is polyurethane, and its not worn off or checked at all (no surprise), but it has noticeably settled into the wood grain, to the point its clearly a 3 piece body. It looks nothing like these relic'd guitars (which I really like), but its definitely got its own "vintage" vibe going on. Just imagine, its 33 years old now. When I bought it in '87, the only strats that were that old were all made in 1954!
Wow, that Texas Tea tele looks awesome ! Relic and all.
Great as always guys. That strat that Pete is playing at the start is tasty!
Although, shouldn't the video title be 'have arrived'?....I'm that guy aren't I?!
My local Guitar Center here in Lakeland, Florida has an MIM Road Worn tele that is Pete’s tele. The neck literally feels like it’s 30 years old. And I have an almost 30 year old MIM Strat, which while having poly and isn’t fading, it has yellowed and the finish is not at all sticky. I really want that guitar. It feels so perfect, sounds amazing, and just speaks to me.
“I love the taint”...👏👏👏 Pete is one of the best all around dudes on earth.
Cool video, great guitars, thanks for posting this.
You can really see Pete's influence on Lee's playing these days. Nice and soulful.
Guitar: possibly th only instrument where you can 20 of them and still want more.
In 64 or so they changed the pickguards from the ones that went mint green to a material that would remain stable for longer. So 64 was probably one of those transitional eras where you'd find some of both. So Pete's could be an original scratchplate
I wasn't able to order from Andertons because I live in the U.S. and wanted to put it on financing but I bought a guitar I had speced like one of those Petes Teles in candy green double bound finish and I can say hands down it made me wish I had just bought one before I bought any other Tele I own. They are just an awesome guitar.
Holy bollox! That purple strat! And that Texas tea one! And the white one! And... Jeeez, just gimme ALL OF THEM!!! 😍😍😍
41:33 sounded like John Mayer's " I'm gonna find another you"! I love the SRV signature strat! I only wish I could get that someday :D
I also noticed the riff at 38:13 is almost directly from Mayer's Slow Dancing In A Burning Room.
I love your playing equally and really enjoy your take on guitars and gear....I also love guitars in general especially Fender Strats and Teles ,in every iteration.A couple of years ago I was looking at trading in a Fender Strat for a Nash (heavy relic)that played absolutely wonderfully. This was at a local guitar shop in Vancouver(only Nash dealer)that has a wide selection of this brand.I ended up passing on the deal because the salesman said he could not give me what i was asking for on trade. The reason was there were a few dings etc. on my guitar from actually gigging etc.which devalued my trade....I left the store slightly amused by the absurdity of this trade (Lee is right ,why buy a Strat not made by fender)..i asked the sales guy if they threw in a polishing rag with the Nash.It indeed a crazy world and Anderton's has made it a little more bearable and puts a smile on my face !!..thx guys
First time Pete gets owned by the captain in the intro jam. Well played both but the jam by the captain was super tasteful and very beautiful 🎶❤🎶.. it made me want to buy a tele (I already wanted that though 😄)
Admit it. Pete specifically made that purple Strat for himself, so he can own a matching Strat/Tele set.
As for the blue sparkle, and the TV Jones, I am so into this. But, it has the STRAT bridge, instead of the horrid ash tray bridge with hedgehog saddles. I 100% approve of this decision. Seriously, Fender, the Strat-style hard tail needs to be the standard-issue.
The tone of that black (sorry Texas Tea) tele is to die for.
Hey The Captain! I love your playing style. Its nice and 'streamlined'... or something.... smooth, not overly complicated. Is there a compilation of your playing on here somewhere? Keep up the great work!
I watched SRV live at his last show ever in Memphis on April 28th 1990. He was the man...
Ohh man, that purple dream strat!
That sparkle tele is so sick. I have a Custom Shop double bound Tele in teal green metallic, love it, but I WANT that sparkle.
Sounds awesome! The captain and Pete are amazing 😁. When will the Dave Simpson video be coming out?
Thanks for tuning in! - The Captain Meets Dave Simpson will be coming out this week... Make sure to have the notification bell turned on so you don't miss out.
Thank you guys so much!
@@andertons Keep looking out for Dave Simpson
@@andertons did you let him play with any of these ?
"I love the taint" Just floored me that has :D
Beauties and as always - great job you two !
These sound great but relicked guitars are... oh, never mind. :/
I am going into business making relicked slippers, that's a great idea, cheers Lee!
Awesome!! Yummy guitars for tasty licks.
Thanks for tuning in!
I love Chappers and admire his playing quite a lot, but the Captain and Pete jams are the best... I think your styles mesh better and you have great chemistry.
As always, my favorite is the purple one. But the blue Tele is a very close second in looks, and by far was the best sounding. This TV Jones pickups are great.
Beautiful colors!
Mount Stratmore: Buddy Holly, Hank Marvin, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, SRV, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy.
Great video, amazing guitars and fantastic playing and then CZcams totally fuck it up with endless ads!
Aaaaaah... I'm in love with that purple strat.
Lend me four grand, somebody.
Oh my oh my..that Texas tea heavy relic telecaster ....that is sooooooo nice. I've just spent £650 with you guys on some pedals coming tomorrow. Why do you do this to me. How on earth do I justify that kind of purchase. Can you ring my missus and explain how much of an essential purchase this is
Yes, I can see Lee is a Slippers sort of chap. Well worn in & comfortable, obviously! 😇
Man, I'm only 2 Minutes in but the Captain is killing it! Great job Lee!!
@Andertons Music Co Man, these guitars do sound great to be honest. Always happy to see the Captain & Pete doing these videos, thank you guys! BTW, congrats on your ""666K"" subs so far hehe... Cheers!
Great vid! :) On the subject of relicing - I was always of the opinion that it's better to buy a new condition guitar and simply play it for 40 years. However, I'm now 62 so I'll be 102 before my new Fender Original 50s Tele looks cool ;) I think that if I can ever afford a Custom Shop Tele (i.e. if my wife will not divorce me) I might get a bit of a head start on the aging, just so the guitar can catch up to me ;)
Totally agree with Andy Lord. Jimmy, SRV, Gilmore and Clapton.
Love you guys! Love Pete sniffin'! I share the passion! Lets see these Fenders! Love em!
Texas Tea relic! Coupel a clever boys here. I would totally buy that.
Glad you mentioned lefties..... I was feeling very left out! Looking forward to the Gibson range!
28:00 Little story: I used to live in London (moved to America in 2018) and always been quite like lazy to go to Guilford and check Andertons’s shop.. despite of being a fan of their channel and online shop.. back in March this year I did a cheeky business trip to London and took the chance to go to Guilford and check Pete’s 64 .. tried the Olympic white, the candy apple red, did not feel right, then I kept messing around with several guitars.. nothing called my attention .. on my way out of the Custom Shop room next to the exit door I found a very not very nice looking guitar (my taste) hanging just in the corner... I picked it up who knows why.. and played an open G chord.. it changed everything that day.. I decided to take it to the sound booth in order to hear her roar with an amp.. a staff member looked at me with the guitar waiting and he said: “that’s a pretty cool axe”...my answer was: “don’t like the colour nor the gold hardware and white tuners... but sounded amazing”. Once plugged the guitar was a beast..as soon as I left the booth I asked the price.. my jaw dropped, more than what I would pay for a guitar... on the train back to London, looking at CZcams I see Pete and Captain testing these guitar and the Captain was playing the one that I just got my hands on a few minutes before, maybe a sign?.. Fee weeks later, sitting at home and with a brand new 63’ willcutt reissue recently bought online, which did not have the magic I felt back in Guilford.. It dawned on me that you don’t turn 40yo every day ;)...
The video of the Sage Green strat that is on my lap right now: czcams.com/video/RViU7WUObKA/video.html&feature=share let alone that now I love the colour, golden hardware and pearly tuners ;)
I bought the Inca silver one and it’s a beast. The best guitar I’ve ever owned in 25 years of playing. Sometimes you just have to disengage the brain and go with the gut.
The older I get, the more I appreciate relic guitars, as I don't have another 35 years to relic it myself by playing it. My old Les Paul doesn't have any paint missing, but it does have yellowing, chips in the finish around the edges and the finish itself is so cracked, it looks like a road map, from that time when it had to ride under a Greyhound bus in the winter. The back has some buckle rash, but it merely mottled the finish. It's also ridiculously heavy. They really built 'em to last.
But a relic'd guitar doesn't come with the memory/story of the winter Greyhound bus ride.
@@gregtoolson1606 it's a guitar, not a photo album. Yeah cool memories are cool but first of all it's an instrument to be played.
@@oskarileikos Then why buy a relic'd, which charges extra for all those pretend "cool memories?" A relic'd guitar is like a photo album, but instead of putting your own pictures in it, you leave the stock photos of the models.
"is that your dad?" No it's just some random old guy they took a picture of to sell the photo album.
"Where'd this scratch on your guitar come from?" Oh, I bought it like that. In fact, I paid extra for them to put the scratch on there for me. It makes it look like I've played it a lot. Isn't that cool? "No, it's pathetic."
@@gregtoolson1606 no, sorry, now you are completely missing the point of relicing. To me, and to many others, relicing is first and foremost about the feel, not the looks. That's also what Lee and Pete are saying. Now, the looks do matter obviously as well. I want a guitar that looks a certain way. Relicing is a part of that. It's not "the story" or anything like that, it's just that relicing looks cool. And frankly, a guitar is an instrument for me. I play it. Everything else comes second. Including the memories and such.
@@gregtoolson1606 also, if you buy a genuine vintage guitar with lots of wear and tear, you haven't put the scratches there yourself and the "memories" or "photos in the album" are not yours at all. You buy it, because it feels, looks and sounds cool. Same reason as with reliced guitars.
I love watching your videos , relic fenders are just cool , I own a bunch of telecasters , esquires, but only one Stratocaster . I’m 64 years years old bern playing guitar since I was 6 wish I had all my old guitars , but traded them off down through the years , that was back when they were not worth anything . I lived in California till I was 16 about 5 miles from the old fender plant . Pawn shops all over the place and you could buy them for practically nothing .. If I had only known ….
You earned a like for the "I love the taint." Line. LOL!
