Every Uniform A US Air Force Academy Cadet Is Issued | Loadout | Insider Business
I think it would be really cool if all of the big military academies and maritime academies were able to come together and compare different uniforms, how they work, and when they wear them
My man Ahmed wearing 23 all over his swag like Jordan let's goooooo
Proud of the Air Force! Air Force veteran here!
thank you for your service!
In the Army we used those ankle pockets for tourniquets and other medical items, the left arm of the OCP's is designed for pens.
I suppose each branch has their own SOP.
With the flight programs that most officers are involved in they are used to having notepads and pens in leg/thigh pockets, most active pilots even end up with knee boards(essentially wearable clipboards) in the aircraft. Medical usually ends up in vests. Security forces can be an exception however, and guys like pararescue are just scary
Army and Air Force OCP uniforms are identical. There are no pen pockets on the OCP pants, just the blouse.. Notice how he didn't even show them... because there are none. He probably got a little mixed up and he was referencing the old ABU uniform, which did used to have pen pockets near the ankles. As you could probably imagine there isn't too urgent of a need for cadets walking around campus to carry medical items and tourniquets. Most people never touch those pockets except to make sure they're buttoned for inspections.
@@classicrockandcars its about how you use them homie
@@andrewhalo100 My bad I was replying to @afaella3
5 different uniforms seems like alot - but pre 1940s some privates in european armies were issued 8 different uniforms. So 5 is quite reasonable.
The Navy has 6
The Citadel has 8
Pretty much all British military have 5+
privates??? in the Interbellum??8 uniforms?? not a chance.
privates are enlisted.. no way they had 8.
Follow the money and department budgets. However much uniform providers can sell to USAFA or how much internal budget (=responsibility=career growth/salary boost) someone get for their department, they will reach for that.
What a cool presentation! Would love to learn more about army uniforms!
Very interesting video. Pretty cool to see all of the different uniforms and how they are put together. Nice job.
Very Smart 😎😎😎
Hope you guys are having fun!!!
Thank you!
Dang your service dress and uniforms are so much nicer than ours (Navy) lol I knew I should have joined the Air Force instead but the recruiter was literally never in the office 😆 so I didn't even get to have that conversation lol
"Your uniforms look nicer than ours." Said nobody in the navy. ever.
@@whatsgoingon71 I was in the Navy and I said that so?? they do look better. The service dress looks better than our dress blues
@@piplup10203854 you can Switch to the Coast Guard. theirs look almost the same.
you dont get recruited for the academies, you literally have to apply. and the navy academy uniforms are similar to to the air force academy uniform, especially the mess dress and parade dress.
@@lifesabeach5405 He's an officer, officers attend several social functions a year. Especially at one of the biggest academic institutions in the entire world....🙂🙂🙂🙂

Drone pilots wear flight suits! What a world!
LARPing is fun
Got to say the USAFA has the best uniforms by far. Their varieties and functionalities are amazing. Great presentation as well.
Have you seen the Naval academy uniforms? Or the actual Marine Corps uniforms?
navy dress whites y af dressblues
Youngest of the academies.
this type of personification of pt kit is nice
Something to be careful about... You have to use a permanent ink stamp to mark your uniform. At least a couple cadets will mark their clothes in the wrong place, So everytime you are wearing the uniform you see the mistake. You can get gigged everytime.
The Sabre is so badass. I wish I could get one but I’m active duty Air Force and I don’t think I could lol
Theyre all "issued" but then cost $13k and they deduct that out of your pay for 4 years, so the $1200 you make a month is actually like $400 with the clothing costs taken out
can you do a naval academy, coast guard academy and west point ones as well
I liked the video!
Lol, such fabulous outfits!
I especially love the sash outfit!
6:26 my jaw dropped when I saw that and said "wait, that's a German style insignia, looks like what I used to have!". Lo and behold, it is indeed. German Luftwaffe here, mid 80s. Sehr beeindruckend!
Cool
Great overview. As an 82 grad, the least desirable piece of uniform were the heavily starched parade pants. They were awful and uncomfortable. I’m. Delighted they have been replaced with something wearable while you stand for two hours sweating on the parade ground.
My dad was class of 83!
I’ve been watching this many times as I will try to join the Air Force via USAFA
Can you do a video for each of the branches of the military?
Os uniformes são muitíssimo importantes, para facilidades dos treinamentos físicos e de apresentação por excelência ❤
You should do a video for the other military branches
6:00 OOF, some Sergeant Major would go nuts if he saw those pants.
So their service dress has pockets on the chest to help with the name tag. They changed that for active duty while I was in. We looked like flight attendants.
It looks a lot like the "old" Air Force service dress.
Interesting story
Jesus loves you ❤️ please turn to him and repent before it's too late. The end times described in the Bible are already happening in the world.
The service dress service coat he had was phased out in 1994🤣 even cap has the new style service coat
As if I needed another great reason to join USAFA… seriously I am SET on getting in here.
Are your socks prescribed, as well? You also didn't mention the neckwear, ie neckties. Quite informative, however. Thanks.
I take it that a 2nd Lt now.
Fact: the USAFA parade uniform was designed by famous movie director and apparently clothing designer too, Cecil B. DeMille. No wonder it looks good in close-ups. 😉
I wish the USAF could go back to the coat that the Academy is wearing right now. Like, it would probably cost less to do so.
It is very interesting. Although quite funny to see a cadet wearing ribbons for wars while he is at school. As if i was wearing a ribbon for fighting in Afghanistan and haven't been.
Cadets can be prior service
@FancySeeingYouHere not where im from. I've been in sea cadets and we can't wear ribbons for wars fought by other members of the Canadian Forces. Then again, the US is known for giving medals and ribbons just for attending basic training or just waking up in the morning.
@@BrianMoore-uk6js Americans get ribbons for anything. Must be the reason why some countries call your uniform " Christmas trees"
@@GabTheDrummer you can be enlist then apply to West Point or the Air Force Academy or the Naval Academy, get it and still wear the awards you earned
I'm really only watching because one of my childhood best friends went to the Air Force Academy and I want to know what he had to wear everyday
parade dress pants are what we called bibbers in marching band

It's so cool. I wished to get training in her air force academy, but they don't accept girls in my country😢
Surprised the U S Army Air Corps insignia used so much.
kid couldnt even iron his blues pants sheesh
2:26 wrong thats not for pens thats the pocket you use for dip cadet
wouldve been interesting if he mentioned how he got the German Badge/medal
first off his name is Ahmed, and secondly, that wouldnt give him a medal lmao@@mailbox580
You have to be a racist.
It's a badge from an International Military Skills Competition. It's not a medal.
not really a difference tbh@@alyssapowell1799

Those eyes look defeated, hope he's getting okay sleep.
"We HAVE".
Young man, the phrase is "We HAVE."
Would the cadets keep the uniforms when they go into the actual Air Force?
Yes, but not all cadet uniforms are comparable with the uniforms of an Air Force officer.
How to be part of the Academy? My daughter ask me and I don’t know where to go or the process to apply
Its a nomination and appointment. Check out her high-school JROTC. They usually have a slot they can nominate. Otherwise it takes high grades, a lot of community service and a high ranking state official like a Gov. Or Senator to nominate you.
Talk to usafa recruiters. Your daughter should also get into contact with her congressman. This should be her job, finishing the long application is half of the process.
❤❤👍👍
I’m confused, I was never issued uniforms, I had to pay for them… I was issued other gear, but never my uniform.
Same way for cadets. They are "issued" them.. meaning you are forced to get all of them from supply and it comes out of your paycheck.
You need to teach your cadets the proper method of climbing a net. Feet on horizontals, hands on verticals.
In 1978 no sneakers, we did PT in combat boots. You guys have it too easy.
Very detailed
How does a cadet get a GWOT?
Cause technically he is in the air force
He must entered AF Academy in 2019.
From a Marine,
-Nothing bad but I’d love to hear his explanation of the “Advancingn Forward” American flag, I know a lot of Civillians don’t understand why it’s “Backwards” who are probably the Targeted Audience.
-Why does a “Colonel” Cadet refer to their trousers as “Pants?” The Academy is all about Formalities, and the “Boss” (who I’m sure is certainly acting the part in private) messing this up?
-Overall his explanation is as pretty great!
PS: if I ever catch a cadet of any branch wearing evening dress with their Academy ranks, I’m hitting them with my car
The piping on your PT looks like it needs some help. Would thing supplier could do a better job.
I think it's reflective and says USAFA over and over.
@@pamelaburleson2063 Nah it doesn't. They get worn and washed a lot so they get pretty beat up.
Forgot to show the Clown Suit . Wait the dress blue .
do rotc cadets also recieve this uniform?
Which one
Got
So I’m guessing he’s prior enlisted because he’s got a down range ribbon because to went to Afghanistan.
I get having both a formal and a more utilitarian outfit, but this seems a bit excessive
It’s only a academy thing reg active duty rotc and enlisted don’t do this 💀
yeah you never wear your blues in active duty. unless you're in deep shit.
Never used the PT gear either unless for the yearly PFA. Bi-annual if you score below 90s.
Takes a lot of character to wear that shirt with the fruity sleeves-Robin Olds would be appalled.
I can’t imagine if his last name is Jordan with that 23 patch
Freedom Rawrrr 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
I personally wouldn't wear that when getting married.
When is the Star fleet academy coming(I mean space force academy!) you stole the trek insignia so you may as well name the academy after it. It should have its own academy if it’s own Branch.
Yeah just like how the Marines have their own academy right?.... right???
😮😮🎉
Is he in civil air patrol?
No, why do you think that?
@@SamScott99 I am not sure what cadet colonel was? I thought it was a CAP rank.
@@nicklesanddimes3539 it could be, but ROTC and the academy use those ranks
Always makes me laugh when i see Air Force with Camos on 😂😂😂
He forgot the commando uniform. 😂
The tiger stripe camo, Aka the ABU?
It might be silly but it’s good looking.
Did he really call the trousers of his camo uniform “pants”? My friends who attended West Point used to say “only women and Middies wear pants.” I guess you’d have to add USAFA cadets to that saying.
Everyone just calls them pants, it’s not that big of a deal
Have you never lived in modern society? They've been called pants for the better part of a century.
Not generally in the military.
Why do american military personnel get medals while still in training? I know of other militarys that just award medals for 10+ years service and overseas service.
It's an extra incentive, I guess.
@@UmUs madness. We do 6 months of recruit training and 18 months cadetship. We get no medals or ribbons for passing them.
Time at the service academies counts as time in service so those service ribbons or medals that are awarded after a certain time in service or completion of certain service activities can be awarded.
The Air Force is no longer required to wear uniforms.
How does he have a global war on terrorism service medal?
Everyone who has been in service more than a certain time period during the "GWOT" gets the ribbon, and time at the Academy counts as time in service.
our service dress is grim, get it tailored, the RAF still has better uniform
The camouflage kit is rubbish as I could see him while he was wearing it

Cadet Ahmed needs to hem his pants.
If women can have the option to not shave their heads, men should be able to grow beards
I think thats not an option because the mask you wear while flying in high altitude to get enough air. like with the gasmasks in world war 1.
also if they are given the right to vote the should also get drafted

What an egregious waste of taxpayer money for vanity. No wonder 800 billion wasn't enough last year to fund the military.
Former cadet here. We need to pay out of pocket for our uniforms. Some like the flight suit and overcoat is loaned to us and we wash and then return it at the end of our time at the academy.
Why make such an ignorant comment if you have no clue what you’re talking about…
Hahaha wow look at all the patches and pins a rookie gets. You haven't earned anything yet, you just received the participation badges 😉
Pretty sure the jump wings were earned. The "global war on terror medal" well, yes, it's given to *everyone* after a while.
