- Greetings and welcome back to my kitchen.
in today's video; I'm sharing with you all my cold pressed/unrefined coconut oil recipe.
Cold-pressed coconut oil can care for your skin with more efficacy than any moisturizer that uses many artificial ingredients. Cold-pressed coconut oil, due to the preservation of all the nutritional properties, provides a therapeutic therapy for the skin, which can aid in the cure of skin diseases like atopic dermatitis. It enhances the moisture retention of chapped and dry skin and also helps in the better functioning of the skin by proving to be a shield against infectious agents, chemicals, and allergens.
Consuming cold-pressed virgin coconut oil which is pure, unrefined, and extracted from freshly harvested coconuts is an ideal choice for cooking, healthier than other refined vegetable oils. The cold pressing technology helps preserve and retain the natural goodness, vital nutrients, rich aroma and flavor of fresh coconuts.
Unrefined coconut oil
Sometimes called virgin coconut oil, unrefined coconut oil is oil that has been pressed from coconut meat and undergone no further processing.
There are two methods of extracting unrefined coconut oil from coconuts
Dry. This method uses a machine to press coconut oil out of dried coconut flesh, or copra.
Wet. This technique involves pressing both coconut milk and coconut oil out of fresh coconuts and then separating the two.
Most unrefined coconut oil is extracted using the wet process. You may see some unrefined coconut oils labeled “cold pressed,” which means that no heat was used in its extraction.
Unrefined coconut oil is solid at room temperature and has a strong coconut flavor and scent, which it can impart to foods that include it. Its smoke point, or the temperature at which the oil begins to smoke, is 350°F

Thanks for sharing!! i appreciate you stopping by to watch
coconut oil is really helpful for the hair growth specially in winters
Yes, true
This reminds me about my life going up on a farm. My mom use to make coconut oil and castor oil 🪔. This process is very time consuming. Good job!!
Thanks for sharing. I wish to do castor oil but cant find the castor nuts here in south Africa
I have a hedgehog who has a skin condition that makes her skin very dry so on her ears we use coconut oil. Being able to make our own coconut oil would be so much easier and hopefully better for her. I'll have to give this a try.
Well that is good to know to keep it in a warm area of the house to ferment it. It is summer here and I'm sure if I sit it outside it will have a rapid fermenting lol. You know how to make so many things. I don't know if that dedicated to make this myself. I wish I could buy from you lol!
Sounds great!
I really like everything about coconut. From the oil, to the aroma to the health benefits
I really enjoy this video
I would like to ask, the equipment you used in grating the coconut, can one get it in stores?
I really like it and would like to have one
Thanks for sharing
Helpful video. I like this method and would try it out.💯
The lady helping out with that grating part is from Mozambique. i don't know how its called but ill ask
This methods is the best but tell us specific time at every stage
Great tip on using the bag and hanging it! I did this BUT when it separated, my water was on the TOP?? What is going on with this and how could I screw up something with no added ingredients but water? Coconut and filtered water. The 7 small drained, cleaned - simply ran under the water, and cut into chunks, not shredded before going into blender. The coconuts were good, not going bad, because I was eating them as I did each one. Lol.
Your video IS THE BEST one I have come across & I watched a lot because I had initially followed instruction from a pethelpers website to make this cold pressed coconut oil. The final product will be moisturizer for my dog. THEY had me pit it in the frig after blending it with water. It was in there for 24 hours....nothing was happening. My "milk" did not get scoopable off the top like the website so THAT is when I started watching actual videos. Now I am good in ghe kitchen, not quite a chef, but I can follow a recipe well. So after watching your video, I poured my refrigerated "blenderized" coconut & filtered water into the bag & hung it. I came back in about 4 hours and it was separated, only REVERSE of how yours and everyone elses separated!?!?
So I drained out the bottom layer of MILK and pinched the bag to stop the water from going in bowl.
Then the next step was I put it in a (glass) bowl with lid like you did (being in the US in Pennsylvania the summer temp right now is very warm & muggy) and so I put the coveted bowl outside on my porch, not in the sun. I had it out there for at least 24 hours and it never looked clumpy, "yeasty" like yours. In fact, I had some liquid on the top and thought it looked promising until I went to scoop the "milk curds" and it just swirled around and blended into ghd watery substance. Grrrrrrrrrr. I tried freezing it to see if the solids would freeze first so I could separate but the entire thing froze! At a loss now so I just put the whole thing outside again...now going on 24 hours but I am not hopeful. Something happened along the way but not sure what.
I appreciate any insight you can give me.
I'm so glad you went through all that. Try using another kind of water like maybe bottled water(spring water ), and let's see
Thank you
where did or why can I buy the grater for the coconut?
In curious now how expensive coconuts are in my area! I use coconut oil for many things already but especially in my baking!!!! And it is so good for my dry scalp. I even put it into tea sometimes
Oh wow! Thanks for watching
There is also an easier way Lucy. After grating you mix with water to get the coconut milk, then heat the milk in a pan and finally you will get the coconut oil. This is how we do it here in Kenya.
I know that method but when you cook anything remember you loose most of it's nutrients
Wow this was amazing to watch! I would never have thought that the process to make coconut oil at home would be fairly easy. Look at all that richness coconut oil has so many benefits for the hair, skin, teeth, and cooking!
Glad you liked it!!
This method is amazing
My question is after allowing it to ferment will it be hard?? I mean the coconut milk
And again how about me dat used a juice extractor to extract the milk do I still need to separate or just ferment immediately since there is no water wat do u think
You can follow my demonstration to make yours if interested, then you'll see for yourself if it will harden or not. Also, you'll still need to follow my demonstration regardless
Pls I need answers 😢 I got the ktc coconut oil today and it is odourless can I still use on my skin I use it around my pubic are
Sorry dear, I'm only a content creator that made her coconut oil & decided to share my recipe. Do contact your dermatologist or where you bought your ktc oil from. Thanks
I love coconut oil. It great for hair. This looks very time consuming to be honest. However I think in the long run your save a lot of money. I know here in the states I know coconuts oil is one of the more expensive oils.
I totally agree!
What is that you are using the get out the coconut from the shell?
i don't know the name but if you can see any lady from Mozambique selling coconut, they'll help you. Thanks
From the look of things,it seems the cold process is more difficult to that of virgin.
I didn't add water. I used a cheese cloth to squeeze out my cream yet the oil is not coming out, it's been three days now. What do I do? I'd exposed it to the sun
Please I don't have electric blender, can I use mortar and pestle? Thank you
Yes, you can but greater would be better
Hello Mam, I am from India. Nice Video 👌. Can You tell me how much col pressed oil did you get from 7 coconut?? 😊
Do you mind watching the video again?
Pls Lucy what's the difference between hot pressed and cold pressed coconut oil
I think hot pressed would mean coming in contact with heat which might destroy most of its nutrients
Please mma am watching your videos on CZcams on how to make coconut oil,how can I get this crater
Don't worry about that grater my dear, cut your coconut into small tiny cubes then use your blender to blend into a smooth paste.
How long dose it stay
up to 6 months
How long does it take to ferment
depending on the weather conditions
I love this method but it is a bit stressful
How long can I keep it
It can stay for 6 months
Pls do you sell
I want to buy
How long can the coconut oil last? Can a preservative be added to keep the oil last?
So long as there's no drop of water in it, it can last for 6 months
is it normal that the coconut oil taste a little sour? tnx in advance for the answer
Not at all
