We both ended up repeating our codependent tendencies after our break up. After a year I was done with it and chose isolation. After another year I finally gave up any attempts to control the situation, and my love for my ex revealed a truth in them that I saw mirrored in myself. This truth freed me from cycles that have always burdened me, beginning with my mother. I see now that God brought us together to learn about ourselves, and I don't think we're done. Am I crazy for wanting to confront it all with them? It's not in my hands anymore, but I still have faith that anything we go through will only make us better versions of ourselves.
