      Thank you.When I was a kid in Ukrain.My mom was trying to grow one but at that time we didn’t know nothing about peony .We was relocated every year and didn’t understand why it’s not blooming.And than one year we just left a lone and after 2-3 years we saw first blooms.From that first bloom i new it’s my favorite flower.And now there so many varieties in color ,shapes sizes.Now I have my own garden and I’m growing them.In my journey I learn a lot about they and how to grow them here in North Texas,zone 8a.But I’m still love to learn something new too.

    Hi I have enjoyed your videos. I wanted to ask your advice as I am also in the north Dallas area. I am curious if you think it is possible to grow a small batch of 50-100 peonies in a open field with part shade covering during the peak summer? I was thinking using hoop houses that are halfway covered with shade cloth. Thanks for any advice!

      Hi.So this yellow is Itoh peony.They handle sun better than peony .This one is has sun from 10am till 5 pm.And it’s loving it.Herbaceous peony do need sun for next year blooms.Most my growing in morning sun.And still in July there leaves will started look not so good but they need to stay till fall like till October.So if you want to cover them with hoop make sure it’s get sun in the morning of in the evening.I do have peony that has only evening sun in summer but in early spring it’s getting more sun.Do you know from where you going to order ?They need to be planted in fall .I hope it was helpful.Good luck .Peony and Itoh peony are gorgeous flowers.

      @@smallgarden5682 very helpful and thank you for your response. My plan is only to have partial shade after the flowers are gone and only to cover them during the hottest time of day. My dream is To grow large quantities in Dallas area . I’m willing to invest the time and effort as I know it takes 3+ years for it to even bloom from root. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.

      I found one company that has excellent roots .It’s. Peonyparadise.com. .There roots are amazing,big , strong.They ship them in fall.I did fail one root but it was my fault I planted in potting mix that hold water and that root rotted.But my other ones from this coming I plant in the fall and next spring it game me blooms.And there price is compatible .Another good company is Monrovia I can find there peony In Calloway stores.And this year for the first time I saw peony and Itoh peony in Lowe’s.Lowe’s in the past didn’t had them.Well have fun

    We planted 2 Itoh peonies the year before last and they have beautiful foliage but no flowers :( Do you know why?

    • @smallgarden5682
      @smallgarden5682  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi.So it’s can be different reasons why it’s not blooming.So this Itoh was in bloom next year.Same company same Itoh didn’t bloom for 3 years.So it’s can be roots need time to grow.I do fertilizer my 2 times a year :spring and fall.They do need sun.4-6 hours of sun.My in the mid day sun and they do better then peony’s.I like one company that have the best roots it’s peonyparadise.com I order from them in fall and next year in spring it blooms every peony and every Itoh peony.Another factor if you order it in spring and plant in spring it can take 2-3 years to get strong .I hope it was helpful
