The titanium lugs is so you can specify the geometry for fit. Like a custom build. Because they can be made at any angles.
oh well this one was made pre production that he bought at a store already sitting in the store
Nice idea for video but Colnago don’t do custom measurements just standard sizes
I fitted my aethos with ultegra. Bike is 6.5 kg and the looks is much nicer. No need to get the dura ace. So much money for 250 grams
@@GCPerformance18 am so looking forward for the new tarmac. Hope that they will have a nice color scheme like pinarello. We would appreciate it if you
Can do videos on how the bikes ride. This is mainly because we need an objective opinion before making buying decisions
@@mohamadjamil3164 if you need a comment about c68 it feels dull. Not a snappy bike like tarmac. C series have more Classic lines than normal bikes it feels comfortable but not a superbike from performance perspective.
@@cibo23 thanks a million:) am also looking for feedback comparing the dogma f compared to the tarmac. I have my eyes on one of those
I basically went with Ultegra Di2, Rotor crankset and DuraAce cassette and my "groupset" weight is within 100g of DuraAce for a fraction of the cost and no problem of delaminating either
Nice bike. I own a Colnago clx that i found on sale and it is fabulous. I don't know if i got lucky with the geometry, but it requires very little steering input which is so nice when you are grinding for a pr. It is a couple of lbs heavier than my Domane, but most of my personal bests are on that bike.
God what a simple but gorgeous bike.
classic bike classic colors, just screams high money without screaming high end
That's a handsome bike! I'd prefer dropped (and sloping upwards) chain stays (not seat stays!), some 10° more top tube slope and 5cm more stack / higher head tube for comfort. But as is, it's still a very pretty bike. Kudos to Colnago for settling on non-dropped seat stays and at least some level of top tube slope in an era, where most pseudo-designers do the bicycle design equivalent of wife swinging and nipple "liberation" by getting fed up with sensible design and coming up with frame"designs" that look like a collage of visually incompatible frame halves - a high, hideously horizontal top tube - and a rear end with hideously low seat stays and some 20cm gap between the top tube / seat tube joint and the top of the seat stays that usually also happen to hideously bulge sideways from the seat tube joint! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't think there nothing cheap about Ultegra, it's a premium product, imo there's nothing mid tier about it, 105 is more mid tier but still a great product.
If money was no object and you aren't racing, then yeah - this is the Rolls Royce of bikes. Should have been Campy though (obligatory comment for any video of a high-end italian frameset),
Rolls Royce in price only. This bike couldn't match a high end custom made steel or titanium frame made by a company like Festka. Festka even wins in the paint finishes which is something Colnago used to be known for many years ago.
superb bike. i would have opted for all Italian components. Also, why mat black? i own C40 with campy record and now hangs on my wall. Old vintage bikes are elegant and work of art. engrave campy and super nice paint scheme. modern bikes are faster but look functional. to each it’s own
yea but people do not like the campag as mnuch as they use too, it i sbecoming more and more dated, it needs a facelift
I love my 12s Ultegra DI2. No regrets upgrading from mechanical 105 whatsoever.
That Colnago + Wheel combo is heavy though! My Sl6 Sport Disc frame + Farsport Feder wheels seem to be lighter than this super expensive combo.
Probably the Colnago frame is more aero than my SL6 though.
I was thinking the same. My Cannondale with the deep wheels on it is 2 pounds lighter and it is a 58cm
Black and gold will never age... I own 4 bikes and they all have bright colours and after a few years you get sick of it.
Great video! I really love those Enve wheels but man are they expensive... Sidenote: I Think your microphone is broken or has some kind of defect. I'm hearing a white/static "beap" noise every 2-5 secondes when listening with my headphones
Beautiful !!!
Can't agree on the mix of colnago an shimano
I the computer mount dual (top and bottom?). Can’t find one like that
Beautiful
Damn! I’d buy that for a dollar and change! 👏🏼👏🏼
A pair of Campagnolo Bora or Shamal should be nice. And Pirelli P Zero Race
Beautiful bike!
But, if I am paying a premium for that frame, then I make sure to have Dura Ace or Super Record.
yea thats how I think alot of people are going to feel but at the end of the day it is the end users decision and this is what he found to be best fitted for him
@@GCPerformance18 Agree but, I am sure he will always have that in his mind now lol.
Also, that 12 Speed Sram chain is very bad! Read the zero friction facts reports. The chain is so bad that they ( zero friction fact ) do not even sell it.
If he wants gold, he should change to KNC X11SL. That one is the second fastest chain. Dura ace is number 1
Which computer mount is that? The CC01 mounts I have seen don’t include a GoPro mount.
Thanks!
Very nice!!!!
Should’ve gone Campy.
If you’re going to go exotic. Can’t put an ultegra on it. CMON MANNNNNNNNNNN
the guy is not a fan of campy and also has duraace on his two other bikes but now ultegrta 12 speed looks so premium and and is the exact same function as duraace there really is no difference
Love everything about these, apart from the handlebars and the horrid Garmin mount.
If I was going to go lugged, I'd go with a precision made bike from Framework Bikes in Ontario. Custom geo, and orders of magnitude better production quality than the mass-market brands like Colnago at half the price.
Truly paying the "Colnago tax"
really? I have never heard of that brand. I will have to look at framework, but another question to ask weould be, do you think if framework was as big as colnago that there prices would be the same?
@@GCPerformance18 it's hard to say, once a brand gets big they can charge a lot more for the brand name.
Sorry, not even close. It’s like buying a really cool kit car vs a GT3. At first the kit car is cool and different, but in the end the the GT3 is timeless and wins in every category.
I could write a small book as a mechanical engineer...but a couple of points.
3D printing of Titanium is to create Titanium in a targeted geometry and 3D printed Titanium will never have the structural integrity of Carbon fiber. Carbon fiber has over 2x's more ultimate strength of 4000 MPa compared to 3D printed Titanium.
Further Carbon Fiber is lighter than Titanium.
What we have here is a gimmick. Marketing. Exclusivity, which GC touched on tangentially.
But there is more. Whenever two distinctly different materials like Titanium and Carbon fiber are glued aka bonded together, two properties are created. Bonded materials never have the strength of homogeneous materials because no bond is as strong as virgin material and second when bonding two materials with different modulus of elasticity together, when subjected to load, they flex at different rates which can create stress risers. Think of it like a mechanical hinge. The more flexible material will bend against the stiffer material which works to break the bond.
I personally wouldn't touch one of these with a ten foot pole. This frame isn't lighter...pure carbon frames are lighter. It isn't stronger. A pure carbon frame is stronger. This frame doesn't have better ride quality because where the Titanium is applied offers little flex. Joints are designed for rigidity and not flex. Flex occurs along the carbon frame sections.
3D printing is a ruse. It is for cost effectiveness, not for structural advantage. 3D printed metals are never as strong as their forged metal counterparts. This is like potted or sintered metal versus forged wheels on a high end Porsche.
Anyway, just wanted to comment. The world is now controlled by marketing. People aren't critical thinking in their decisions. The public is largely ignorant and uneducated. This is what big companies bank on for profit. Value? A Giant TCR for 1/2 the price will outperform this Colnago in 'every category'.
So it's not really a Titanium frameset. I was considering but there is very little information of how much Titanium is there, unlike the Kinesis and Van Nicholas
Dream bike
Great looking but but those hoods are way too angled! Not sure why everybody bashes Shimano on Colnago’s because nobody was complaining when Zabel/Petacchi were riding those beautiful Extreme Powers with Shimano. Personally, I have Etap on my C60!
My Cervelo Soloist 2006 with same depth in rims weights 6,9kg and its probably not noticeable stiffer. Smoothers is not stiffer. Cashflow technology.
I think I might've missed it. Can you repeat just a few more times what the lugs are made out of?
Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good. czcams.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1. Very light2. Solid quality build3. Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)
if you erase the colnago inscription, how will it differ from other bikes??😂
How would feel if you bought this bike with campanolo super record and two weeks later campanolo released new group set
10 điểm chất lượng
I think it’s missed opportunity to have a beautifully made Italian bike and not have campy components.
lol sure if you'd want to hang it up your living rooms wall. But if you'd like to ride it there's nothing better than Shimano on the Road. Campa EPS is a nightmare to work with and to maintain, Campa Wireless looks like ass...
@@vini20900 Sadly, I agree with Super Recor Wireless looking less stellar than other Campi groups. Ekar is and looks dope though. I prefer SRAM over Shimano and have that on my C68.
do people still mostly run 28c tyres on these high end bikes? or is the trend moving towards 30-32?
@@MonicaHolly143 will 28 be comfy enough for bad asphalt roads when combined with a carbon frame? I have an older 23c aluminum bike and I feel every vibration in my soles
13,000.00 😯. THIRTEEN GRAND!!! That’s car money.
yea I know, all these bikes now are car money, I dont know what is more surprising, a bike being 13,000 or a used car fvrom 10 years ago being 5,000 I still find that insane, the amount of excess there is in this world is crazy to me and little value meanwhile other countries dont have enough vehicles
I can't like the bike until the Di2 wire to the rear derailleur is managed better. There is no reason for the cable to be hanging in space like this. Zip-tie, shrink tube or a piece of inner tube around the derailleur hanger makes a bike look so much nicer
my english not that good to hear you speaking english. so let it clear, what is the difference between this black-gold c68 and other c68? coz what i get, it's all should be made from titanium. is it?
the gold ediiton the lugs on this bike that hold the carbon pieces together are titanium where are every other model is just regulars lugs, i odnt know the material but it is not titanium
needs dura ace
What’s the cost of the complete build?
looks like the cost is enough to call this bike collectors dream but not to ride it...))🤣
frame 8000 group set 2800 wheels 2500 and then some add ones so somewhere near 15,000 he didnt buy the stuff from me
Nice bike, but from a collectors pov: the C50 Extreme Power (in 57 or 58) is still the dream bike for me.
I'd say a limited premium frame should only blend to dura ace or super record...
Night Rider
Suppose Colnago made 1000 frames available for purchase at $2000 each, in a lottery system each year. You specify the size and geometry, put a deposit down at an escrow service PayPal and if you win the lottery, you get the frame. I'll bet they would not lose money and it would raise the brand awareness much more than sponsoring a pro bike team (where they can give away 200 frames) which costs millions per year. Even if they dropped the price to $1k, and did not do any pro sponsorship, they would come out ahead.
When you try and sell. $12k bike, you get hit two ways: spending a fortune on sponsorship and having stock unsold because no one buys it. This scheme adresses both problems.
Thank goodness the owner had more sense to go Shimano over campag.
if a crapvelo is too cheap for you. there is an increase 🤣
Lovely bike but so heavy.
A wonderful Colnago and with a world full of colors to chose a the own picks Black?!
Over 5 feet away it could be a cheap Canyon or a Giant.
Hey some like to use ones imagination and other like to look like the other black (8-15) bikes on a group ride
You seem a bit too obsessed over appearances. Have you tried focusing on just riding?
@@larkiess Yes have been riding so long I want more than look like everyone else. I prefer to not look like the large group of riders. Like No black bibs.
If Ultegra is your dream you are easy to please
possibly but i suppose you can always wait three years and change the ultegra for a younger campy super record or dura ace. Ultegra on a c68 is like buying a ferrari but admitting you cant afford the fuel @@GCPerformance18
Great looking bike....Not aero, just a nice ordinary bike!
You should post a picture of the owner so we can all see what an idiot looks like. I know that sounds mean but seriously Colnago is taking a Piss. The man is history and the new owners don't deserve the premium pricing for the common manufacturing the Industry is using. 3D printing parts is done on a mass scale in every industry. Why does the bicycle industry still treat it as a mystical wonderous new invention that they can charge stupid amounts of money for. At the end of the day the C68 rides like two wheels and I would bet that a nice custom steel frame would ride better. I had a Colnago M10 which is very much the same as the V3R and very close in resemblance to this C68 geometry and appearance. After 7 years the frame just cracked from normal riding. How's that for carbon strength and durability. If your $16K bike does that how are you going to feel then? I won't touch another carbon bike. But if you're rich, yeah, go ahead and give it to the corporations. Corporations get richer and the common man gets poorer. I think going with a small custom builder would have been money better spent. Everyone is drooling over this bike, but why, it makes no sense.
Could be a Specialised . Looks dull drab has Shimano🤷🏻♀️. and shitty disc brakes. To think what Colnago used to be this is the latest demise of a premium brand.
this one came out super nice and classy but this bike game is all about preference and too you it might bew ugly but to the guy who bought it, he went out of his way to buy it from over seas and pay more money because he had to have it
A heavy, dull bike for people with more money than ability
I dunno... don't get what's so special about this. Just like any other bike from china except way heavier and triple the price.
I'd never buy a bike that doesn't have a real Headtube Badge. Painting a logo on the headtube is so cheap.
this frame is very minimal but the other complete bike colors are great looking, I like it alot
ENVE wheels and second tier Shimano? Why? Just buy Campy and Bora Ultra wheels. This build is weak.
And where is the explosions intro?
I mention in this video that, shimano Ultegra is so similar now to duira ace that maybe shimano shot themselves in the foot by making ultegra look so good, if our minds didn't associate ultegra with being mid tier we would think this group is top tier and performs exactly like the duiraace all it is just a little bit of weight difference
+1 on this. My 12sp ultegra road bike shifts smoother then my 12sp SRAM red road bike (even though both are close). Not sure what the value prop is for Dura-Ace. Only fault with this build is the Shimano pwr meter, which isn't particularly good.
