  • I go to sekiu washington and rent a boat from van riper's resort. The boat cost $175 to rent for the day. There are half day rentals but I don't know how much they cost. I caught a variety of species but the best were 2 lingcod. I also caught black rockfish, kelp greenling, rock sole, and more.
    For location venmo $5 to @peelingline. Put van riper lingcod in the what's it for. I'll reply with the location.

    Copper rock fish is awesome looking and the quill back. Cool underwater release of the rock sole. What a beautiful lingcod!!! Cool with the blue tongue/mouth. I caught a chain pickerel like that one. The inside of his mouth , his gill plates and bottom fins were blue. That 2nd one you got was a beast 💪🏻 Black rockfish nice looking. Love seeing all these fish u get. I know I’ve said it before but they are just all really unique looking. Great video and catching Brett!!!

      Thanks. There are probably more species I haven't caught out there than I have. I'm pretty lucky to live out on the coast.

    Nice lingcod. Thanks for the video, and for the tip on the boat rental in area 4. I fish the same waters, just the other side of Juan de Fuca, Canadian side. Really digging your videos! New sub here. Cheers

    I enjoyed the video and I like the way you talk to the audience, but it broke my heart to see you throw back a perfectly edible kelp greenling.

      @PeelingLine  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. I would normally keep them. They are my favorite even more than lings. But I already had a lot of meat. I don't want any going to waste. It was also on the smaller size for the area. Last year I got bigger ones from that area.

    Hes peeling line! Just like your channel name 🤣Giant lingcod you caught! Ive caught a lingcod that had a blueish mouth too. I wonder what that strange color means. I thought about getting a home depot bucket for fishing but my catches are not as big as yours LOL You took the boat rental beyond the boundary, but benefitted with a great day of fishing, Brett❗️

      Peeling Line You are welcome. The dropshot is a great technique to catch fish, that is for sure. Those lingcods you caught were very nice, especially the one with the blue mouth. I look forward to seeing you catch more lingcods and other fish.

  • @DpuckFishingandOutdoors

    Man those Lincod are crazy looking. I was thinking that was a hefty price for the boat but you caught quite a bit of fish.

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před 2 lety

      The gas was included in the price. But a kicker motor can go all day on hardly any.

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. I am not sure about getting a boat. I keep going back and forth on getting one. It's a lot of time and money to have my own. I like the convenience of just using a boat and not having to do any of the stuff that goes along with owning one. But, there are drawbacks like not being able to use one everywhere I'd like to fish and not having better equipment. We'll see.

    Finally some fish actually peeling some line! haha great variety of species and some of your best lingcods on that day. You said you didn't catch anything new. What species are there that you still haven't caught?

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. The fish you can keep, that I have never caught, are yellowtail, deacon, blue and widow rockfish and cabezon. There are too man fish to list that you can't keep. I will be busy for years collecting them all.

    • @lesstalkmorefishing1000
      @lesstalkmorefishing1000 Před 2 lety +1

      @@PeelingLine Wow there are still a lot of new species to catch then! Guess you've already caught all the common ones then. Now only the rare and hard remain?

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před 2 lety

      @@lesstalkmorefishing1000 Fortunately, there are lots of common ones left. I have yet to catch them though. All those ones I listed are common. They wouldn't let you keep them otherwise. It's more the techniques. For instance yellow tail rockfish are a suspended fish people mostly catch trolling or jigging. But they are only in certain areas.

    • @PeelingLine

      Clallam bay has quite a few in the sandy areas especially on the east side. I also get them in 100 -120 feet of water with sandy bottoms. Good chance for halibut in the latter too.

    do they extend the ling season here saw it closed june 15th like this year, wanting to go this year for kings and lings in july

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před měsícem +1

      No they don't extend it. But, if you fish areas 1 to 4 you can get them till October. If you go to Sekiu you can get a king in area 5 and then hit the other side of the sekiu river for a couple lings. You can't have a lingcod onboard and fish area 5.

    • @PeelingLine
      @PeelingLine  Před měsícem

      @@HowardLindsay-hu1jy True. You got to stay on top of the regs for each area. Even sub areas. Like area 4 west and 4 east have different regs for rockfish and that can get you in trouble if say you get a china rockfish in 4 west and start fishing 4 east.
