    Started with the R10 and a Spornia net. Added a good quality mat. It connects to my IPad. I have it setup outside for the moment and it has made a huge difference to my practice. I will eventually get an inside setup with a large screen and a projector and still use the R10, The R 10 is so close to more expensive launch monitors that I find it more than adequate, if I was a pro then the extra accuracy of a more expensive unit would be justified. Also the launch monitors are evolving at an incredible rate, the mid range launch monitors will need to drop their prices, Simulators are reaching a price point that the average golfer can afford, this will make it viable to drop prices as Sims emerge from a niche market to one where most golfers will consider adopting the technology. Exciting times ahead for golf simulators

    I just got the R10 a month or so ago. Installed hooks in my garage ceiling to hang my net from. Paid a little more for a good hitting mat. Got an iPad that can mirror to my tv, and that’s pretty much it for now. In the future I plan on getting an impact screen, gaming laptop, and get GS Pro as I’ve found out R10 users have figured a way to get GS Pro to work with it. Launch monitors/sims are becoming more and more accessible for the average person that can’t, or don’t want to shell out tens of thousands of dollars. I eventually plan to upgrade probably to the Rapsodo 2 once I see all the feedback and people have run it through the ringer so to speak. Golf is one sport that has consumed my entire soul lol. Randomly stumbled upon this comment. I have a DeWiz and I really enjoy it. I do however, use a Trackman to make sure my in/out and swing directions are good aside the use of the DeWiz to monitor DDx/y, swing plane angle, length of backswing and tempo. So it's not something that will cover everything. Where it really shines is that you get instant feedback on what you did in the swing, and the ability to easily practice different wedge distances. All in all I do recommend it.

  • @rickliners6123
    @rickliners6123 Před rokem +1

    Good video. I'm gonna send this to my buddy who is in the midst of building a DIY simulator. I wholly agree with the 2nd guy on spending the extra $ on the launch monitor. The R10 is ok for the price, but remember, the R10 and other "light " monitors do not measure or calculate spin axis, hence they cannot provide an accurate representation of ball flight, draw/fade, slice/hook. Therefore, you will be a much better, straighter golfer using the R10 than you are in reality. It provides a reality distortion field that allows the user to remain in golf bliss. If u are serious about your game you need spin axis which is provided by MEVO+ or higher priced monitors. Luckily, they have the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro which is slated to be launched end of month. We'll see if it performs as they claim. But the rapsodo, reportedly, will be capable of measuring!! spin axis. For 700$. We shall see. I'll believe it when I see it type of thing, but I am hopeful.

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  Před rokem

      Yes please share it 🙂 If I was just starting out with a golf sim I’d look at the R10, but knowing what I know now if I could afford to I would go more higher end like SkyTrak or Mevo plus. But yes the MLM2 seems to have potential ⛳️

    Looking at building a garden room and putting a sim in. Long term project but starting when the weather gets a bit better. Have you got a video on ideal room sizes? Obviously we have restrictions in the UK with the heights of garden rooms 😢 so trying to work out the best way of achieving the ceiling height for a swing!! Any tips??

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  Před rokem +1

      I feel your pain mate, I've looked into getting a garden room too and the planning permission is a killer isn't it 🤦🏻‍♂️ Ideal dimensions are minimum 10ft height, 10ft wide (minimum, but more towards 4m if you can), and length of the room is a bit more variable depending on which launch monitor you get. I'd say go for 6m as minimum for the depth. If you're doing it in the garden then I guess the only thing you could do is dig down and start your room from below ground level and build it up to 2.5m above ground (or whatever the planning permission regs are). So you'd get your 3m height but only 2.5m of it is above ground.

    • @MrArsenalfc14

      @@hcpgolf I’m lucky I have a massive garden so the size isn’t and issue it’s just the height 😡 thinking of putting a pitched roof as it’ll give me 4mtrs but still worried that something might be wrong once finished 🙄 I suppose I will just have to do more homework for the moment and make sure I don’t get caught out by any silly regulations!

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  Před rokem +1

      An iPad can run the FSX Pro software, but a gaming PC is required to power FSX 2020 and FSX Play. Basically, if you just want the driving range you can use an iPad. If you want to play courses you need a gaming PC/laptop 👍🏼

  • @dustinroberson1865
    @dustinroberson1865 Před 4 měsíci +1

    I've been looking at setting one up. My plan was to buy the launch monitor and just use it outside until I had the area set up for it. I have a big overhang on part of my porch and it's a vaulted ceiling. Plenty of room to eventually set up a screen, but I would want to put a proper floor down along with walls.
    The price of the Garmin is very appealing, but I want accurate numbers so that it isn't just for fun and so that it gives proper feedback to improve my game. Is the Garmin that far off from the Mebo+, or is the biggest difference the lack of putting? I have no intention of putting. I don't think putting on the simulators adds a lot to the game, and if it isn't very accurate, it just takes away.
    I guess the main question. Is the Mebo worth the extra $1300? If I want accuracy, do I need the Mebo? If the other style launch monitors aren't that much more expensive, why would I go with the radar tracker? I'm in the process of saving up to buy the main components, the Garmin would be much easier to explain to the wife and would be a short time of saving up. The Mebo, on the other hand, is a much longer investment.

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  Před 4 měsíci

      If accuracy is what you're after then go for the Mevo+. The Garmin is great as a starter launch monitor but carry distances etc can sometimes be +/- 5 yards which isn't ideal if you're trying to dial in your distances. Mevo+ is much more reliable in my opinion ⛳️

    My question is the sound level. I want to put one out in my attached garage, and my hope is to get in a few rounds on the weekends and practice at night after the kids go to bed. Bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house so that my help a bit. Curious if anyone else has installed one in the garage and run into noise issues with bothering others that may be in the house? I put up an area rug to hit into to test the sound level but it is much quieter than when playing on actual golf sims. Not really wanting to spend the 500 on a screen just to test if it’s not going to pan out cause will likely not get much for any type of resale value.

    • @hcpgolf
