  • In this video, I try to show the complete steps from start to finish of replacing my front shocks/springs. This was my first time doing this. Learned a lot. Let me know what you think or if I could have done something better.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed and I hope it helped someone out there.

Excellent video tutorial!! I plan to but Bilsteins on the front of my Commander, which has the same suspension as your GC. The world needs more mechanically inclined young men like you with a positive attitude and willingness to help others!!

Nice work. My LCA and Clevis bolts would not come out. Have to swing the strut out and pry it out of the clevis. Install new strut tap it in and swing the strut into position. Mucho work but still saved money.

I just changed the shock and struts on my jeep same year but a 4x4. Pretty easy to remove. I replaced them with kybs. The struts work fine but not impressed with the shocks dampening capability.

Appreciate it! I hope it helps someone out there. The motor finally gave out so I just traded it in as "non-running".

You don't have to remove that bottom bolt between the clevis fork....you just need to tap that down from the top portion of the shock.

Everything loosens except the lower Clevis bolt , saturated the bolt for several days , hammered bolt too but it doesn’t break loose, what else but rust holds it in there ?

Did you need to do anything special after disconnecting battery my old 1998 Jeep had a security on it I had to lock un lock rear lift gate to reset the security so the car would start...

No sir, there was no special security/reset I needed to do. Everything was fine once reconnected.

Good job! I am not an expert by any means but that ball joint on the upper control arm did not look all that good (only saw the driver side).

You did not mention the size of any of the bolts :-(.
