- If you look at Kim Mulkey's press conferences prior to Kent State and then watch the Kent State game it is clear why Mulkey benched Angel Reese. We cut it up so you can see for yourself. She committed cardinal sins for a Mulkey post player which was she did not post up hard and was getting torched on defence by Katie Shumate. Mulkey wanted to send a message to Reese and LSU players. now it is bigger than Ben-Hur. See how it all developed
I was a former player for Kim Mulkey at Baylor, and this analysis was absolutely spot on! What you see is what you get. No nonsense, full of integrity, wisdom, and love for her players! She is the only person to win a national championship as a player, assistant, coach, and head coach. One time she took me out of the game, and I rolled my eyes on national television and she called me into her office and addressed it. She did not embarrass me in front of the whole team, but did it one on one. She called me higher, and said I represent Baylor and this wasn’t acceptable. Of course, I didn’t want to come out of the game, but she did the right thing. I learned from it and I respected her even more. She gave me another chance, and I never did that again. She encouraged me and coached me hard, along with ALL her players. She didn’t play favorites and upheld high standards no matter who you were. I instilled the same thing into the athletes that I coached after I got my degree. She is a class act and champion in every way. Great message! I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers! The way you broke down this game is exactly the way Coach Mulkey would break it down and point things out to us, especially the lack of hustle and defensive aggressiveness. If you didn’t play defense at Baylor, you sat on the bench, no matter how awesome you could score. The reason that I started and got so many minutes was not because I was the best player on the team, it was because of my hustle, my passion, my heart, my rebounding, and aggressiveness. I could also be coached hard, and RESPONDED. I hated losing and so did Coach Mulkey. She said in the press conference, it’s not always if you lose the game, it’s the effort that you put out as you lose.. she respects all her opponents, and when we gave it are all and still lost she was proud of us.. the things you pointed out on this video would be totally unacceptable to Coach Mulkey and Angel’s lack of effort and heart. Coach Mulkey would also come by and visit our classes to make sure we were in attendance and getting good grades. She would even walk into the classroom and say hi to us! 😂 She definitely cares about her athletes getting a degree. I highly doubt this is a grade issue. This is a heart issue and lack of effort.

I agree. What made Angel a difference maker last year was her effort and energy.
We saw this…idk why people talking about grades…Kim was unimpressed and making Angel feel it sitting with the spectators. That’s good tough coaching and holding a player accountable is lost in 2023 😮💨😩. Angel will grow or fold from this. Mental toughness is lacking in young adults
I agree but a lot of this falls on Kim. Most of us could see AR was doing too much off the court. I wondered how she would approach this season. Kim letting AR come out with a crown on, take online classes, etc. Kim didn't set rules and standards for this team. So, it's not surprising she's experiencing these issues. Geno, Tara, Dawn, Vic, etc, have NEVER dealt with these issues because they set standards for their players. Kim got caught up in the flash and hoopla as well. Her asst coaches posting childish posts on social media, offering millions in NIL deals to recruits, etc. This coaching staff is just as much to blame for this team's lackadaisical attitude and arrogance. They're emulating their coaches.

@@vikb3131Kim didn't need to deal with it. She knew she had a player(Morrow) that is equal to Angel in talent and just as hungry. The coach couldn't touch Angel with a 10 foot pole with all the attention she was getting. Agents, parents and Social fame could lead to potential backlash. This isn't a Kim issue this an Angel Reese issue. Pick a side (Basketball or Social Fame) and stand on it. Get grounded and humble yourself.

You are on point man. Angel Reece avoids playing D at every opportunity. I think she is using Angel to point out that anyone can be called out or benched if they are not doing what is asked or expected of them. But there are some head games are at play too..

Reece has at least as much height and longer arms than Czinano, but not the bulk. No one, including LSU coaches, would say that Reece worked as hard at positioning in the post. This is one reason why Czinano shot 67% from the field to Reece’s 52%. As I said, if Reece did work on positioning, she would score more points.

She played with great intensity last season. I'm not buying Reese simply decided to not play hard this year. It's more complex than that. She has been a leader at every level. Played on a national team. So what's the difference? There is a huge conflict between player and coach. Reese has not forgotten how to shoot and defend. I think she's deciding whether she wants to do it for this coach. Mulkey needs to be careful. Not cool putting players on front by comparing them to others. If not she may wind up developing deion sanders syndrome 😂
I don’t know. Mulkey was able to navigate a previously troubled relations with Morris.

Absolutely my friend absolutely am I attended the game that they won LSU the championship call the Riff Raff after that I have messaged her then and said be humble because they're going to look at your career label you and make it difficult, coach was all speakers this time that you were going to talk about it now she allowed out there this is her grades as if some beef with her and it was like that's what it was more of of that kind where was the school to step in and said she needs a tutor or mentor or either someone to say you can't do this online and the Big Bear some kind of guidance guidance counselors that's what they're for , why take her out that game talk with her and say you're going to be do that again and you're going to get not play the next time so that's it was more to that you're absolutely right she's just changing the narrative

No one is considering the mental health of Reese upon returning to the campus. I would have been quite alarmed if an athlete 21years of age made a tiredness declaration after being off all summer away from the pressures of the game. Like it or not Reese has never had a summer like the one she just experienced. Uncommon achievers tend to deal with waves of depression. Now giving my military background where I had to deal with troops in and out of extreme pressure situations, training or combat a soldier that young telling me he or she is near exhaustion is going to get sent to mental health for a least an evaluation as that could be a sign of depression and given my soldiers were locked and loaded that was my protocol. Even I was sent to mental health three times in the Army when I started acting out of character it can happen to anyone. Im not making excuses but Reese seemed off kilter to me from the media day interviews on...she just didn't look stable she had a kind of wildness in her eyes to me. I kept asking myself what is wrong with her. Might be a good thing she was away from the team a good spell extreme pressure can cause people to have a walking nervous breakdown unbeknownst to the average person. It's just my observation Im not saying it was the issue but since her days at Maryland I have never seen her so out of sync. Hopefully the time away from the team will help her recover and she gets back on track she might have just hit a wall. Contrary to popular beliefs all humans periodically get off track no matter what they are doing. Matter of fact in America its seems more and more evident that our youth are off track or just operating in a different space.

Saw a reddit post on Kateri Poole's absence and one comment thread pointed something out that is really interesting. The exact post states "For Poole and Reese to both have this occurring at the same time leads me to believe it’s related. Before that, I noticed that Poole was getting less minutes in the rotation than Poa was, where last year she played almost twice as many minutes than Poa. I’m wondering if Poa passing her in the rotation led to some sort of incident." Another commenter also pointed out that Reese and Poole are also not following Poa. Social media can be a little bit of a reach imo, but this is a very good theory as to what happened that no one has pieced together yet with all the surrounding drama with the moms and AR's gpa (which is so obv untrue imo). This may have been the "locker room issue" situation that Mulkey was alluding to, since Poa has essentially taken all the minutes KP was supposed to get. Notice how Poa's minutes have increased from her only getting 12 minutes in the Colorado game (the lowest of the 8-man rotation) to now working her way to being the co-PG of the team, along with HVL. It seems to me Angel, but especially Kateri, are simply in the doghouse!
yeah, something is going on amongst the girls. i wouldnt write off social media. it can be VERY telling. poa and aneesah were almost inseparable when the season started and just within the past couple weeks, looks like theyve had a falling out too. aneesah erased all her poa tik tok videos, is now spending all her time with amani bartlett, and poa spent her caymen time with flaujae and sa'myah. poa had a birthday yesterday and hardly anyone on the team (besides the coaches) acknowledged it. i feel really bad for poa bc i dont think she really wants to be starting PG, but coach is really trying to find a role for hailey. lets pray for these poor girls! 🙄🙄

Yeah. I already told the presenter earlier, though his video was well crafted. I don't feel his conclusions were accurate for several reasons. And I did tell him (as you mention here), that there's something going on between those ladies, that could be the real reason!? I have other speculations, besides the ladies. However, that Twitter mess (that includes Flau'jaes and Angel's parents), and Poole's/Reese's absence are too hard to ignore. Flau'jae and Angel were tight last year (some speculated they were involved). And then, their parents get into a kerfuffle on Social media about Angel's grades (as Flau'jaes mom thought Angel's mothers vague tweet had to do with her). WTF!? Yeah. This is not about "Reese's effort" during the games.
I told the presenter: His video (though well made), would only inflame the Hate Reese/LSU/Kim Mulkey crowd, but not really get to the bottom of the situation, cause he takes too much out of context, followed by speculation.
Reese, played well when she came back in that Kent State game, then didn't comeback, but cheered on her teammates. So, it wouldn't make sense for KM to not play her (and AR to be mad at half time), if Reese played well and showed effort at the end of the 1st quarter, 2nd qtr.. The fact she hasn't come back since, is a clear indicator that Kent State game (whether as a tipping point or single effort) had nothing to do with it.
Poole has allowed herself to get out of shape by gaining weight,she was slow as hell Addis give a shit, Mulkey won’t except that.
I think the truth of the LSU saga is more along the lines of what you have presented in this video more so than a grades issues.
If it was grade issues she wouldn't be able to suit up. The benching at halftime can't be connected to grades. She would've been out the game frm the beginning. Why start then get bench if grades were the issue?

You’re right in all those clips there was very little effort from Reese. It’s like the Championship and all the publicity went to her head and she doesn’t need to push herself and try hard. Any couch worth watching wouldn’t accept that from their players no matter how good they think they are.
I don’t think she’s showing a lack of effort on purpose. I think with all she has to juggle she is legit exhausted…There has to be a balance, with NIL growing the way it is a lot players aren’t resting during the offseason, not to mention Angel also played with team USA this time around as well. Rest and Recovery is important.
I don’t understand why the coach doesn’t just come out and say that she’s not playing the way I expect and she will not play until she does.
If you watched the college girls play in Fiba this summer with USA you seen this coming with Angel she was also benched on team USA. She don’t look like the same player from last year at all she need to lock in and get back to the game

Exactly why she was benched for Aneesh Morrow. Compared to her Angel is nothing. Aneesh Morrow can score and defend. Why put in Angel when Morrow is twice as good as Angel.
Young success can be handled two different ways, Caitlin Clark continues to show ya can be a star n successful but yet remain balanced while Reese has shown ya can have success n be a star but forgot what got ya that. If Reese is this difficult now do ya really believe she'll handle it better later, I'll take Clark cause she seems to get it. Class isn't bout being rich n successful it's bout how ya treat the world outside of yourself while having the lights shine on you. Clark has shown difference between self ego n self awareness, Reese may have won the championship but it's Clark who's winning at handling fame n bright shinning lignts.

Angel let it all go to her head from the last minute of the championship game in April, and she was so busy on social media for the next 6-8 weeks with her boyfriend or doing other things in NYC, wearing some inappropriate outfits for a girl whose team had just won the national championship, turning her nose up to an invite to the White House, and she forgot that fame can be fleeting very quickly if you don't feed it the right way, and that is exactly what Angel did. The biggest thing that Caitlin did was being chosen to play in a pro-am golf tournament alongside pro Zach Johnson, and he said he wasn't used to being in 2nd place with fans this close to home in Illinois. They were followed all around the course by so many of every age group, all wearing their t-shirts or jerseys with Clark and 22 on them. She made sure to autograph everything she was asked to, and took selfies the same, turning no one away. That is how you show people what kind of person you are. If Angel did anything like that, she might be in her coach's good graces now, but that bridge is fully incinerated!! I guess she'll have to build a new bridge. Those fake eyelashes aren't doing her any favors either. They make her look like a hooker.

The bottom line Reese is overrated! PERIOD..She won that Championship and it really wasn't because of her to be honest. She helped but they gave her all the praise for it. Her notoriety went up and she received money and she got to meet the so called celebrities and now she actually think she is a Celebrity. She think she's above college now and she fails to realize it's because of college that she is where she is. Yes she can play basketball but she is not all that as a player. Her personality is bigger then her skill level. Some of the team members are happy she is not there on the down low. Van lithe is definitely one of them. Trust!

Yes she can’t let the defender get around you when posting up. You have to be stronger and not allow it. Sometimes these younger players just need a wake up call, no matter how good they are if they don’t do what you want as a coach they need to sit beside you until they do.
This is what happens with all the media attention and NIL - Oh I still have to work hard? Still have to go to class? WHY?? I am a superstar!
The film doesn't lie, out hustle and outplayed. You could see someone didn't put in work over the summer. She forgot what it took to get her there.

Would never have happened if it was a contested game. The LSU coach is only about winning at any cost. The players are just chess pieces to her.
She has to develop her game. She's a 6'3 center for LSU. Her game is all about effort. And she has alot of it. She also needs to develop a mod range jump shot.

Can you do a video on why her violent double shove this past weekend was basically a non-story and not covered? What would have happened is someone from another major program did that (take the race issue out of it)?

Caitlin pushed the Purdue girl who did a good acting job. You're wrong to call it violent. Caitlin got called for a technical, end of story. Do you really think Caitlin shoved her without the girl doing something earlier in the game?

What did the defender specifically do earlier in the game that warranted 2 strong shoves from Clark? Again, I'm a huge fan of Caitlin's but can we agree that she has a borderline dirty element to her game? I'm a little older, but it reminds me of the Danny Ainge/Larry Bird Celtics teams. She's definitely not on a Bill Laimbeer Pistons' level for sure, but she does her stuff here and there (like her strong shoulder lean in on drives that are really offensive fouls). I can also admit that her edginess makes her as great as she is. I just think if other players did those things it would be perceived more negatively, but with her it's largely written off as "competitiveness" and being "fiery". Just my take. Love the discussion!

This is actually an interpretation of events that have transpired, many are very reasonable conclusions and I agree with you. Quite a few comments mention, "poor Angel". Well sorry but they created this monster last year between the press and Coach Mulkey herself and now they have to deal with it. No doubt that Angel wants to be the star and everyone else needs to be part of the supporting cast. Morrow and Van Lith are starts in there own rights and are great players. But the extended time that she has not been playing leads me to believe something else is going on, could be some type of power struggle or definitely would not rule out grades.
Shaq has brought in more money to LSU than Angel has, but he did it with a team first mentality. Look at his statue outside of the arena. Angel claims that what she wants. She wont get it this way. The question should be what relationship does Kim Mulkey have with the other player in the locker room. Kim Mulkey should’ve taken a page out of Phil Jackson book. Phil Jackson dealt with mini personalities from Michael Jordan to Dennis Rodman to shack to Kobe to Scotty. The list can go on. And with all those personalities, Phil Jackson did not sit down a player. Instead, he won championships.
