I looked it up and yep! He was born in Fulda, Germany to Roland and Marilyn Haas! That's actually really cool, I had no idea lol.
The only time Flula broke character was when he was protecting Kimmy from self depreciation and that just shows how good his real character is. So much respect earned in those few seconds.
Here’s the thing. I don’t think it’s a character. I think this is genuinely who Flula is, just maybe amplified for camera. Watching him on Rick Glassman’s podcast made it clear to me, what you see is what you get. There’s no real mystery to his persona, he’s just an eccentric, funny, slightly oblivious man, possibly neurodivergent (not a psychologist or diagnosing just an observation), and he’s genuinely a treasure
@@Thegbear this is a game of improv, "broke character" refers to when you can't stay in character, when you stop acting in the scene is when you 'break character'. It's not anything about who he is as a person.

@@NCRLouTenant Shayne once mentioned it in an episode of Smoshcast that water is more visceral and would make for better moments, but I do agree that it's gross and much prefer the harmonica as it fits the "game" better. I guess it's just them wanting to do their thing
I want them hooked up to electrodes and diaphragm straps with a medical professional on set monitoring the equipment and pushing a button if a rapid diaphragm contraction is detected.

I have watched and re-watched Damien’s bit for Flula uncountable times and it is just perfection! From Damien’s dramatic accent, his “Du hast eine Bombe” plot-twist to Flula’s passionate clapping in the end, hands down one of my favourite moments of this show!
