I'm so appreciative of his honesty. We don't all have the same gifts and many of us who have prayed to receive the gifts of tongues have not received it, not due to lack of trust or faith, but because God is the One who decides which unique gifts bring Him glory in each of us as the Body. Many parts, but One Body of Christ.

“Tongues” means language. Like my native tongue is English. It’s not some blabbering gibberish that nobody understands. Read the miracle of tongues in acts. It says every man heard the apostles speak in their own language. So it would be like if I spoke English, and you only spoke Spanish. God would allow for me to preach you the gospel, I’m speaking the words in English but you’re hearing the gospel in Spanish. Does that make sense?

Of all the occasions that The Saviour Jesus Christ healed people - Miracles- HE didn’t speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit and maybe some people have the gift of speaking in sounds that aren’t intelligibly known - meaning established languages: English Swahili or Spanish etc. Speaking in tongues edifies the speaker of the unintelligible sounds not the hearer/s. If anyone can speak in an unintelligible “tongue” ok. However, biblically no one is saved by speaking in tongues. Simple faith in Jesus Christ, HIS perfect sinless blood cleanses us and saves us, it’s that simple. God Bless you all
This issue should not divide us as believers, but it’s worrying when a soul expresses uncertainty about their salvation because they don’t speak in tongues - It shouldn’t be an issue at all, if we read God’s word - The Holy Bible. Believing in Jesus Christ is what saves us, nothing that we can offer, absolutely nothing. The Lord made it simple for us - HE gave us free will to believe or not to believe. it’s a decision to believe the Gospel not an emotion. This message is meant for anyone who is unsure of their salvation ; they may think if they don’t speak in tongues they’re not really saved. You are saved if you believe with all your heart.

I don’t know who this man it’s my first time ever seeing this, but this was truly beautiful to me because I’ve talked about this before a little bit on the Internet that I grew up in the church that emphasized speaking in tongues, and if you didn’t speak in tongues, then you weren’t really a follower of Christ you were really like nobody. And I believed that until I grew up and I read the Bible for myself and not what I was taught, and one of the first things I asked was why is everybody talking about you have speak in tongues to go to heaven and the Bible does not say that. The Bible says that it’s a gift and that not all people get this gift, everybody gets different gifts. Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved

But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God!" Oh, what a beautiful gift this is yet not everyone was given this particular gift! The gift of speaking in tongues is not what the disciples experienced on the Day of Pentecost. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 14:26-27 explains how when the *gift* of tongues is operating, there are only two or three taking turns and another interprets.
On the Day of Pentecost they *all* spoke in tongues at once 120 people, *not* two or three and *not* taking turns.
Lastly, Jesus Christ(Yehoshua HaMoshiach in Hebrew) said in Mark 16 that to speak in tongues all you need to do is believe. I ask you to just surrender yourself wholly and completely to the Lord. Ask Him to speak through you and He will. He is not a respect or of persons and there is nothing you need to do but believe Him.
Remember, it’s not a task for you to accomplish. It is simply allowing the Holy Ghost to manifest in you.

Id like to give my testimony. So many years ago I asked Jesus into my life as my LORD and savior. At that moment I felt peace. Slowly he started to give me understanding and gave me scriptures in my mind at certain situations. He taught me the truth and revealed to me the falsehood of the Catholic church. I would also get bible verses when I would randomly open the bible and I thought this was the Holy spirit. When at times I would speak to someone about God I would feel a warmth over my shoulders. So I felt this was the Holy Spirit but I'd like to tell you that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is different. You get an inflowing of the Holy Spirit which outflows in speaking in tongues or prophecy. The warmth I previously had when the Holy Spirit I believe touched me was now inside me. I felt the warmth in my chest and rising upto my mouth as I spoke in tongues. Initially it was only syllables but slowly it started to become more and more words. So I believe that although I had been touched by the Holy Spirit and had the guidance of God, I had not had the Holy Spirit inside my temple (body) as I now have. I pray this May encourage any of you reading to seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit with all your heart with the evidence of prophesying or speaking in tongues. I've seen this video some time before I received the Holy Spirit baptism with evidence of tongues and I was decieved to be lazy and not seek it. It is good to hear comforting messages but we must be careful we don't compromise on what we need. We need the Holy Spirit living inside us to guide us. Seek the Holy Spirit baptism with all seriousness because Jesus is coming extreamly soon. You don't have to go to anyone to lay hands on you but with faith pray, place your own hands on your head (i did this) and beg with all your heart for Jesus to fill you as he promised he would to his believers. Do not give up. The enemy does not want people to speak in tongues because praying in the Spirit is powerful against the works of evil and demons.

amen brother. I have the gift of tongues and 100% agree with this message. I started out in a Pentecostal Church, but then the HOLY SPIRIT started to reject the doctrine of needing the gift of tongues in order to be saved. I fell away from the church and at that point, had never read the Bible for myself, and only went off of what I was taught in the church. Years past, and I finally began studying and reading the word for myself- I read 1 Cor 12-14 and it validated what the spirit was convicting me of; and that is how the church has abused this gift, that Paul oh so clearly spoke about in 1 Cor (the book of correction). Thank Lord for blessing me the gift of tongues, but even more, thank you Lord for giving me understanding, wisdom, and discernment concerning gifts. 🙏🏼

Thank you so much for your honesty Pastor Francis Chan!
Every born again Christian has the Holy Spirit. We receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and usually the sign is speaking in other tongues.
I belong to a Christian association where almost everyone prayed in tongues. I felt somehow bad and intimidated (before I started speaking in tongues) during prayers when everyone around me would be praying in tongues and I'll be praying in English and I thought, why don't I also pray in tongues? I asked God for the gift, I fasted, brothers and sisters prayed with me but yet I didn't speak in tongues.
I later physically received the gift of tongues 7 years after I genuinely gave my life to Christ. I believe the gift is for every Christian. The initial experience differ from person to person too(some people burst out in tongues, others say few syllables).
But we are all Children of God and what should bind us together is Love and not only spiritual gifts.

Too many Christians are putting pressure on other Christians to speak in tongues. I get that it's a wonderful experience and possibly life changing, and builds one up and when interpreted can build the church up as well. But not having the gift of tongues doesn't make one less of a Christian than those who have that particular gift. What should be the real life changing experience is understanding the love of God that sent Jesus to die for us and to receive Christ as our LORD and SAVIOUR. Speaking of building up the church...has anyone here heard of an interpretation of the tongues lately? I would love to know what the message is from the heavenly language.

Lay Ramos I agree that the gift of tongues is not the gift of the Spirit, but a gift of the Spirit; therefore, I agree that not everyone has that gift, but other gifts. There are many gifts that the Holy Spirit has. Gift of tongues is one of them, but the actions that you generally see among professed Christians today is not the biblical gift of tongues. It is jibberish and brings confusion and chaos. If you read Acts 2 carefully, it mentions that the tongues (languages) that they were speaking were all familiar languages. Also you will understand that the purpose of speaking in tongues is to carry the message of the gospel to all the world.

When we have questions, we turn to God's word for answers... The bible teaches us, that that not everyone will have the same gifts.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
    1 Corinthians 12:7-11

Peggi Underwood The gift of speaking in tongues is not what the disciples experienced on the Day of Pentecost.

The bible says that we are all part of the body of Christ and one body has many different parts. I have prayed for the gift of speaking in tongues but that is not something our Lord wants me to have. But to say I am not a true converted Christian is not biblical. I have had too many spiritual and divine interventions in my life not to have the Holy Spirit in me. *When a person receives the REAL Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit will actually take over your tongue and (HE) the Holy Spirit will speak words out of your mouth using your tongue, it's never ever something you do yourself.*
*In saying all of that, speaking in tongues is very very real and it is the SIGN that you have the Holy Spirit. All you need to do is repent of all of your sins and ask God to save you same as how he saved the sinner Cornelius in the bible in Acts.**10:44**-46 and then keep praying, praising him, seeking him until he speaks words out of your mouth same as he did to them on the day of Pentecost Acts.2:4*

But although Billy Graham did not ever speak against it, he himself never did. Yet I admired him as much as anyone I ever knew, and the Holy ghost operating in and through his life and heart was seen for many years, by millions of people. The fruit of the spirit was abundant in his life. That's what we strive for. May God bless Bro.Frances as he continues to seek closeness to God, and let's leave how God answers that to Him.

Appreciate this clip for many reasons, one being that there is tangible love evident! Here's what I'm learning and hope this blesses someone else: God's timing is perfect in each journey!! Because each of our unique testimonies carry power and encouragement! For those desiring tongues, don't get discouraged. Keep pressing into our good Father in heaven...go after intimacy with His heart. Be a lover of His presence. When we value the giver, above the gifts, much flows from that place! I joyously received my heavenly language at 38 years young (I'm a PK who received Christ at 3 yrs old+ spent 37 yrs fired up, baptized in holy spirit--like Francis and SO many others!). The main thing is that we go hard after the Lord and always grow, always deepen our walk. :) Let's cheer eachother on where we are at--unity is how the world will know Jesus sent us. You are all so loved by the King!
"Father in Jesus name, I ask you bless my brothers and sisters who want a heavenly prayer language in your perfect timing for them. We ask for more, Holy spirit! We love you Jesus! Bring encouragement and healing to those the enemy has tried to shame, directly or through well intended believers, because they don't speak in tongues. We silence every voice of condemnation now in Jesus name! Release a fresh wave of unity among all believers so we can tear down the gates of hell and walk rooted in your perfect love! Move us to compassion and let us speak life everywhere we go! Amen & Amen."
Also, for people interested: (I'm not affiliated directly, but my family has been so blessed by the services!) There is a beautiful revival (one of many currently going on in USA & globally!) in San Marcos CA, since Jan 2016. Phenomenal worship, as well as The Word, The Spirit & unity are being preached, with many signs, wonders and miracles happening nightly. "The Fire & Glory Outpouring" on Jerame Nelson's CZcams page has a livestream link (7pm PST) and all previous meetings are archived. 🙌❤👑

I grew up in Evangelical churches. Some of the greatest Christians I know I have NEVER heard speak in tongues. Others I have. I've never thought anything less of the ones that do or don't. I think God gives each of us special gifts. I spoke in tongues as a teenager. But in my adult life, I've only spoken in tongues 2-3 times. The first time I spoke in tongues, I was standing in the back of a church (big summer camp thang), and I was looking at everyone speaking in tongues thinking they were all faking, they were just putting on a show. It really weirded me out. I didn't like it. Next thing I know, it OVERPOWERED me. My hands clinched into fists, my body was tingling from head to toe, and I spoke in tongues for over 10 minutes. I had no control over it. I cried for probably 15 minutes after that. I'm regrettably quite skeptical sometimes, but there was no denying this. God heard my thoughts, thinking everyone was faking it or acting like some fanatics, but I think I quietly asked him to allow me to speak in tongues if it was real, and he answered me by filling my entire body up with it LOL. To this day, almost 20 years later, I can not deny that happening to me. It was MIND-BLOWING. It was fantastic. But again, I don't think it says anything less of someone if they have never spoken in tongues.

For we know not how to pray but the Spirit gives intercession for us with groans and uttered mutterances. The Holy Spirit quiets our minds so that we can control our thoughts that run rampid through our minds. And guess what Lisa? When He quiets our minds we can focus on Him cancel all these wordly thoughts and begin to hear Him speak to us. He says that He is knocking at the door, if anybody hears & answers (opens) the door. He will come in and dine with him and he with me. Revelation 3:20. So to wrap up I wouldn't stay quiet just yet. Fast, pray, read the Bible, listen to Psalms, ask to be filled with His Spirit with unwaivering determation and believing you will receive (faith). After you receive His Holy Spirit, you will pray in new tongues and He will quiet your mind and speak to you. His love is quite overwhelming. Stay strong. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you! Amen.

Then it came after around 15 minutes of crying out to Him... my mouth spoke at a faster pace in a different language... it lasted for a while then ceased and I was completely overwhelmed. Then I knew... God is real. The Holy Spirit is real. Jesus is real. No one prayed over me but the Lord heard my pleas and taught me to pray for others. And that's what I do now together with my family years later... keep praying for others, intercede, love... it isn't a performance and neither should it be seen as justification for some to say that you're better than another. It's a Gift to be used to pray... not only for yourself but to pray for others in love.
God bless all of you... know that when you seek Him with all your heart, He will come. All you need to do is to say, "Jesus, I believe in You and I receive You as my Lord and Saviour." Then it's between you and Him... and when you experience Him, truly nothing else matters. People can say whatever they want... you'll have His Peace.
    Blessings to all of you.

I speak in tongues and it's really helpful for prayer intercession, sometimes you can tell that someone has a need and you want to pray for them but you don't know the details, all I do is ask Holy Spirit to help me in praying for that person and then I just pray in tongues. I believe that's why God gave it to me, to use it in interceding for others in prayer.

I don't speak in tongues but the Holy Spirit led me out of the occult and into Christ. I just know things. What gift is that? When God sends me a butterfly, I know it's from Him. God put doves in my front yard and I live in Queens, New York. There are no doves here. I just know things. When the holy spirit says "go here, do this" I don't hear him. It's so frustrating. But for some reason I just know the next thing to do. I have been praying for the perfect pastor. I listened to many sermons ever since I became born-again. Pastor Francis is the real deal. He's willing to piss people off and he's willing to scare people and even have his name smeared. but he's telling the truth and it's a matter of whether people want to hear it or not.

Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,b but I would rather have you prophesy. Leticia Kindipan I’m sorry that this hasn’t been fully explained to you. You see, the gift of speaking in tongues is not what the disciples experienced on the Day of Pentecost.

Amen. Brother Francis, that may be exactly y you have not received it. Your faith is such an example to the body of Christ~ it's a beautiful gift that glorifies God without the gifts of tongues. I do speak in tongues but it is during my alone time with God, in the. Secret place (Psalm 91) while I am in intersessory or deep remorseful prayer or worship that this gift manifests. All I know is when I walk away from times the tongues come, I walk away with faith like yours., which then in turn, edifies the body. So maybe God gives some that gift to strengthen our lack of faith. A few times during worship services or while in my car listening to praise and worship music, tongues have came but I spoke quietly . Real tongues, according to scripture, you have control over, weather to stop or whisper. Sometimes I have stopped due to being in service but the Holy Spirit still speaks it in my heart. I know He is praying for me . GOD is faithful. He gives us each the gifts He knows that best glorify Him while blessing us and the body. ❤

It is difficult to know. I did have this experience and still have ( not as intense as the first time) I know I wasn't looking for it and I surely didn't deserve it at that time. I know I was about to die and I cried out and was baptized; pure fire inside me; could not stop my mouth. And it was going on for like a long time. And then it was gone and I cried Bc it was so amazing that it hurt when it went away. I have the feeling that some people don't have it Bc it is not the time yet and some others Bc there is something in their hearts that doesn't let the Spirit completely in. I had to be close to death to feel it. But that is my own experience. Each person is an unique case and that is the wonderful thing about Jesus in a person's life. It is very special and unique and personal. Like the DNA of each one of us. Personalized. So no one should feel more important or less important. If you haven't felt it just pray harder look harder ... that is all i can say.

I was 9 and it happened to me. That was 41 years ago. I accepted Jesus in my heart. As I confessed my belief in Jesus and as I thanked him for salvation, I remember crying...and my mouth was open as I was crying, it felt like something ' out of my control' took over my jaw, & my lips began to move and I spoke w/ words I did not understand. It lasted a few minutes. There was no one there listening to me. I was alone in prayer. It has happened a few times since then...(and I use them while I'm praying in private) I have always felt intense peace and a closeness of the Holy Spirit I cannot explain!!! To those who haven't experienced it, you should not throw stones at others' experiences. Read the word, ask the Holy Spirit for explanation. The enemy loves this division. I don't believe speaking in tongues is the ONLY outward evidence of the Spirit...it is ONE gift. He apparently has a reason, but doesn't HAVE to tell us WHY, although his Word does promise us that if we seek, we will find.

@escow nagejac where does scripture say what? That people can pray in tongues without the Holy Spirit? I got that from testimonies of ex-witches who say they prayed in demonic tongues. • @MG-qm8if
      @MG-qm8if Před 3 lety

Do not let fear of demonic tongues lead you away from seeking the Holy Spirit baptism in the gift of tongues. I was also afraid of this too but if you ask God for a fish he will by no means give you as snake as he promised.

Speaking in tongues is a gift for everyone. I received the gift of the Holy Ghost when I was 13. I can say that there was a dark period in my life several months ago, just life stresses things out of my control. I prayed, I attended church, I read the Bible faithfully during that period. One night at a prayer meeting I went from praying in words to praying in tongues. It was an interceding for myself and I could feel it. Immediately a darkness lifted. I felt the weight leave me and the next day those stresses that were out of my control were righted. Anyone can have it, it takes a person believing they can, complete repentance, and a letting go of pride. I believe this man will eventually get it, because it's a gift that God wants everyone to have it since its the spirit that leads a person to all truth.

Tongues isn't necessarily to empower for service.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit isn't necessarily to empower for service.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit (which is evidenced by speaking in tongues) is for the express purpose of sealing the believer to God, and bringing him into the supernatural power that enables him to live above the pull of the flesh.
Thus, it enables him to grow in the Spirit, and become mature, so that he can minister to others eventually.
But first, he must grow in the Spirit.
Baptism of the Holy Ghost, then growth, then service.

That's not true that the moment u believe the Holy Spirit enters u. Believing is the start and then if u believe u do what Jesus said. To confess with ur mouth and be baptized in water and when u receive the Holy Spirit u will speak with new tongues. It's the bible evidence. Why do people want to change and deny the evidence of the Holy Spirit? Jesus even tells us in John 3 that the Spirit has a sound associated with it. It's like the wind u can hear the wind but u can't see it physically. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit u can never see Heaven or have eternal life. Believe the word of God not of men who miss interpret the word of God.

John 14:16-17 show that Christ truly kept His promise, He prayed and asked His Father concerning the Gift Himself who’s the Holy Spirit, so you could receive Him the when you first believe. that prayer will be answered today if you believe.
My questions to you are, how does the Spirit of God baptize one in the Holy Spirit? And what is the purpose of the sign gift or tongues? in Acts 2:1-4 did the power of the Holy Spirit preach the Gospel to the Jewish nations in their own languages?
Do you think you have the truth to answer these questions truthfully? if so, answer them please.

      +Rahfyah Ijahfi...
John 14:16-17 was a promise given by Jesus to his disciples. Of course he kept that promise on the Day of Pentecost. However, that does not mean that everyone automatically receives the Holy Ghost the moment they believe. There is no Scripture that says that.
The Holy Spirit does not baptize you in the Spirit. The Father baptizes you.
You have to first be a child of God, in order to ask for the Holy Spirit.
Luke 11:5-12 was all about the conclusion Jesus gave in verse 13.
Importunity (insistence) in prayer, asking for... the Holy Spirit.
Asking, seeking, knocking... asking for... the Holy Spirit.
      And the iron-clad promise:
If a true child of God asks his Father for the Holy Spirit, he will NOT receive an evil spirit!
      Jesus promised!
But you have to be a child of God first, before you can ask for-- and receive-- the genuine Holy Spirit.
HOW does God baptize one in the Holy Spirit? Simple. Once you are born again, you have the spirit of Christ Himself (the Second person of the Trinity) inside of you.
And when the Holy Spirit "falls upon" (Acts 8:16) a new believer, it wells up from the spirit inside the person. "Out of your belly" flows the living water.
When I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I felt as if a dam had burst inside. Suddenly, it was as if I had touched a spiritual 1000 volt live wire! It felt like the power of the Niagara Falls, flowing through me.
In the natural world, when one touches a live electric wire, it causes involuntary movement of the body.
No rules about what actions are allowed, works to control one who is under the influence of live electricity flowing through the nerves.
Same when one is overpowered by the Holy Spirit "falling upon" them.
There WILL be an external evidence.
The external evidence is not the experience we seek after.
But it comes with the flow of supernatural live voltage.
When the Spirit fell upon me the first time, I staggered and fell, and shook like a leaf... and spoke in a full language that I did not know, for about 2 hours.
Since that time, other gifts are coming into fruition. I have spoken in "various kinds of tongues" one after the other, while in deep intercession for other people. This morning, I awoke with a start at 5 a.m., speaking in a language I had never heard myself pray in before.
      Why would God do this?
Well... why would God make a giraffe? Why did God create Platypuses? Skunks? Zebras?
God has his own reasons, and we do well to respect his prerogative to do things His own way, without having to explain to us.
Now... as to the question about the Day of Pentecost... that requires another post.

I would say, there are two different way Holy Spirit works. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that helps a person to be saved and from the time he is saved the Holy Spirit is in him. Galatians 3:1-2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? (John 14:17, Galatians 4:6). The second experience is the experience of the receiving the power of the Holy Spirit that happens when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. I believe from the scriptures that there are two different experience of the Holy Spirit, One is the Holy Spirit in you and the other one is the experience when Holy Spirit comes upon you. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

The church in Corinth had the genuine gifts. Paul said so. 1 Corinthians 1:4-7
However, they had real problems, because of their lack of the fruit of the Spirit.
Throughout the book of Acts, new-born believers were the ones speaking in tongues. Check it out.
Why? Because the gifts of the Spirit are given to baby Christians.
But the very definition of a baby Christian, is one who is immature. Carnal. 1 Corinthians 3:1

The biggest problem with the pentecostal movement, and I'm not lumping all pentecostals together, is the emphasis on gifts and specifically tongues. I grew up in this movement and I can tell you, most of the time, tongues was not languages nor even human languages at that, it was gibberish. I don't say that in a rude way but to say that is was the total opposite of language in any form. The emphasis should be on Christ and what he did. tongues are not THE sign, maybe, and a big maybe, A sign but because it can be faked, it's more rare than anything. It is a miraculous sign of God enabling the believer to speak an unlearned human language to others. What is practiced today is this idea of a heavenly language spoken to the congregation and then an "interpretation". This is not even biblical. Tongues were given to validate the message of the gospel to those who don't speak the language and yet the person who speaks the unknown tongue is enabled to.

I knew i wanted something more than i was being sold and did not know what He was until i gave my life to Christ. Even if there is a whole lot of issues concerning this gift, i am like a child. I was ready for it and still are, until one person after another got baptised in the Holy Ghost and i was the only one left without. There is no prayer i have not said. Some have said i need to forgive people, others said i have sin in my heart and others have a lot to say. This gift is given to help you in your walk with the Lord. It is not given to perfect Christians. There were times when i was so close to God and i would feel like ok, today is the day. I am definitely going to be baptised. Nope..ANyway, the wait continues. The Bible says that the Spirit is like the wind you don't know where is coming from and where it will go. I happened to be baptized when I was at home ( living alone my family 8 thousand miles away) and I was very ill and felt I was dying. I was on my knees and I couldn't even open my mouth Bc of the physical distress but my spirit was crying out. And then suddenly I started speaking tongues and I was kind of scared Bc I couldn't stop. Like I was trying to speak my own language and my mouth wouldn't say it but it was taking over by a force and at the same time I was myself. It is hard to explain. And I was healed and was dancing in the apartment and thanking God saying Holy Holy and it was nighttime and I wanted to go to every family out there ( looking out the window) and wanted to tell them you need to experience salvation this is amazing is completeness is everything it is love! And then the spirit was leaving me and I was feeling Him going away and I cried. Don't go don't go. And so that is why we don't speak in tongues 24/7. Our limitations our flesh our sins even the ones in thoughts won't let this to happen constantly. But in heaven is going to be amazing. I had a piece of heaven that night. Will never forget. I have had experiences after that but never as intense as the first one. Hope to feel it again as intensively.

I think the gift the Holy Spirit give me is singing because if I sing a normal song I have lots of voice cracks and can’t sing good but when I am in church I sing fine I barely have any voice cracks and can sing almost all the notes

Speaking in tongues was the ability to speak an earthly language you had not previously learned. It’s primary purpose was a sign of judgement to unbelieving Israel, that judgement fulfilled in 70AD. It’s secondary purpose is a revelational gift, which was only to be used in the public church service and with an interpreter.
Anything else is a fraud. They aren’t angelic languages, they aren’t a private prayer language. They were for a time and they passed away.
Speaking as a 5th generation Pentecostal.

My comment *You are a confused 5th generation Pentecostal if you think for 1 sec that they have passed away. (Now there never was any angelic language and the bible never spoke of any such prayer language, but as far as the SIGN of speaking in tongues being passed away, that's not the truth at all.*
*The bible tells us when God pours out his Spirit upon all flesh, your sons and daughters shall prophesy and Peter said on the day of Pentecost(and he was a 1st generation Pentecostal) THIS is THAT, this is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel, then Peter said the PROMISE IS UNTO YOU, AND to your children, and to ALL that are AFAR OFF, EVEN AS MANY, EVEN AS MANY AS THE Lord our God SHALL CALL!!!*
*And the Lord our God is still calling sinner to salvation and Peter said that PROMISE he/they received in Acts.2:4 is still for as many as the Lord our God shall call, how dare you call yourself a Pentecostal, talking nonsense? (you should know better)*
Acts.2:[39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, EVEN AS MANY AS THE Lord our God SHALL CALL.*
You said " It’s primary purpose was a sign of judgement to unbelieving Israel, that judgement fulfilled in 70AD.
My comment *What? you are dead wrong again. The primary purpose of the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues, is what the Prophet Joel said it was for.... WHEN GOD POURS OUT/SHED his Spirit on you!!!(God stop SHEDDING his Spirit on sinners)? WHEN?*
*And that is how Titus.3:5-6 tells us how we are SAVED BY, by the washing of regeneration AND THE RENEWING OF THE Holy Ghost WHICH HE (GOD) has SHED/POURED OUT ON US, same as how Cornelius the sinner received salvation in Acts.**10:44**-46 which the Jews told him AFTER he received the SHEDDING of the Holy Spirit with the SIGN of speaking in tongues in Acts.**11:18** THEN hath God ALSO to the Gentiles GRANTED REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE (repentance unto life is SALVATION)*
Acts.11:[18] When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, *THEN hath God ALSO to the Gentiles GRANTED REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE.*
      2Tim.2
:[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, *RIGHTLY DIVIDING the WORD of TRUTH.*

I believe it exists, but I have never heard of anyone capable of genuinely doing so. Tongues is the least of the gifts in order. The first and most important of all the gifts is conviction. If one is not convicted then none of the works of the Spirit can happen.

Pastor David MacLellan its nice to know that someone actually reads what scripture says about this instead of just regurgitating what they have been taught for so long. Truly refreshing

It's one of those things that hopefully comes sooner than later in spiritual growth. That moment you stop fighting scripture and say, "alright Lord, show me". We all face things in the word that are tough to understand or except. Glory be to God in all things. And grace to you.

Sigh.... the idea that conviction is the first "gift" of the Spirit....
      that's pure silliness.
A Gift of the Spirit is a supernatural ability given to a believer.
Conviction is not a supernatural ability.
Conviction is simply the Holy Ghost revealing to the heart of man,
the difference between God's holiness, and man's natural unrighteousness.
The gifts of the Spirit and acts of the Spirit are two different things.
The first is us in harness with the Spirit, working by the power of the Spirit.
The second doesn't necessarily require any cooperation at all, by humans.
Conviction is the second, not the first.

"Pastor David MacLellan"... if something is listed in the Bible, is it a given that the last of the list is the least in the list? No.
      And tongues is no exception.
Never does the Bible say that tongues is the least of all the gifts.
Instead... (are you even willing to open your mind to what the Word says about this?)
Paul says to covet earnestly the best gifts...
He then takes a brief foray into "a more excellent WAY" in which to operate in the gifts...
(Charity is not a gift, but a commandment. Big difference.)
... and then, Paul gets into the gifts.
First, He gives an outline of how he is going to approach the subject of gifts. (1 Cor 12:4-6)
Then, he fleshes out his subject, following his 3-point outline.
First, the fact that there are diversities of gifts, but all those gifts are from the same Spirit... dealt with in 12:8-26.
Second, the fact that there are different ways the Spirit gifts the leaders of the church... that's in 12:27-30.
Third, Paul explains in chapter 14, how that among and within the gifts, there are diversities of ways the gifts may operate. And he used tongues and prophecy as an example.
In chapter 14, Paul says clearly that tongues edifies the one speaking. (v.4)
Paul also says that tongues serves as edification to the church assembly, if it is interpreted.
Furthermore, tongues operates as a sign to unbelievers. This results in either conversion, or in mockery, depending on the personal response of the hearer.
Now, as far as the value of tongues itself.
I already stated that Paul never said tongues was the least of the gifts. Never.
      But...
Paul elevates tongues to a very high level, in verse 5.
This verse is like a mathematical equation. 3 is greater than 2. (3>2)
      UNLESS you add 1 to 2. THEN 2 added to 1 EQUALS 3 (2+1=3)
Greater is he that prophesyeth, than he that speaketh with tongues, EXCEPT he interpret!
... and it naturally follows, logically, in mathematical terms...
THEN, he who prophesieth, and also interpreteth, is of the same value as he that prophesyeth!
That makes tongues of exceeding high worth!
Why? Because prophecy is God speaking through a human.
Tongues is the same thing... but it only edifies the spirit of the one speaking (even if the speaker doesn't understand it) unless it is interpreted.
      Why?
...so the rest of the church can also hear what the Spirit is speaking.
Prophecy and tongues are both the Spirit speaking. That's why they are of such similar worth.

Correct, it's not always listed greatest to least. Sometimes is in reverse. In the case of tongues Paul's is very clear on it. The gift is of a use in a true language to preach the gospel. Someone who otherwise wouldn't be able to speak language can. Since that moment in text there has been no evidence of that gift. I think that's enough support to how Paul addressed it in Corinthians.

It's one body, many gifts, the Holy Spirit gives gifts as he wills. You have another spiritual gift.
