About this project: I am writing a weekly sci-fi story to the theme of Isaac Arthur’s SFIA videos. It’s a crazy challenging timeframe to create a good short story in, and to do so publicly is even more daunting. I’m just hoping some good stories come out of this, I have fun writing them, and most importantly, the audience enjoys!

I love the way you’re combining these different stories into one big universe! Catching hints and references to different segments from other “chapters” is really refreshing and draws my interest deeper into all the stories!

wow I was completely engrossed in that, we need a second part, what happens when she leaves the vault and why does she and the others leave it, what they find and what storys does the new man tell them. Brilliant, Loved it all the way through. and can man really survive with no inclinations to reproduce?? brilliant.

Very cool! I wasn't expecting the prompt to be useable as an origin story for an existing character.
I enjoyed the dynamic of the Vault acolytes siding with Ali against Verona (not to mention their own senses) when she claimed he'd misattributed the Cave Allegory to Aristotle. Their orthodox culture and their faith in Ali over themselves were really interesting elements of the story.

Well, for an hour I was lost to everything but your voice and the words as I read along. I am not yet sure what to think. It was, without a doubt, well written, and riveting. I think my primary concern is knowing what happens when Verona meets Clem again on the outside…

In writers' workshops the convention--even though everyone knows the writer--is to refer to the writer as "the author," to make the critique as impersonal as possible. So, probably from habit of reading critiques like that, I unintentionally took it as a compliment as well 😂

You are an excellent writer. How many editing passes do you typically do on a story?
It’s crazy impressive you do a story a week.
Thanks, Michael! It's tough to say exactly, because I edit a lot on the text copy as I go, and I make slight changes when I record that copy and edit the audio toward the end of the week too. I typically do three passes with my eyes on the text copy. Then I do two passes using one of the little-known and highly underutilized features in Word--the "Read aloud" button. It's very robotic compared to a good AI, but it's a great tool, because the ear catches so much more than the eye would. Then I have my Kindle read it to me again. All told, between first draft and final read, I'd say between 7 to 10 passes.

@@anthempt3edits Much appreciated! If you are interested and haven't checked it out yet, my secret sauce is over on my other channel Mechanics of Fiction. Having that base is a tremendous help. I definitely couldn't pull off a weekly story without that foundation in narrative structure.

I get the feeling that this transformation obviously doesn’t completely separate one from their human nature… making their back stories extremely relevant to what and who they become after the metamorphosis. And makes his hesitation to leave Verona quit interesting … Would love to understand why? What about his backstory led to him to crush so hard on Verona and made him strong enough to survive the transformation. Why after his transformation he was so ready to kill the uncle yet once he realized the edis Ali was back on line he bounces with him

Maybe a new or as yet undisclosed military branch of these guardians devoted to potential extra-galactic threats might be created/revealed.

Can confirm: Clem Aballi is not the Kwisatz Haderach. As for god emperor 😧Magic 8 Ball says: "cannot predict now."
Its species and not race. and there is no such thing as human biology, human is a term for those part of humanity. you arnt simply born as one it takes a act deed or thought. for the same reason that a hominid can be inhumane. if we were to be born as one we could not never be inhumane, the entomology and basic linguistics and reason further substantiate it. to ignore this and just call every person and everything human means you forget to be human. which is exactly why media pushes that term "the human race" so much. it makes ppl forget what humanity is. extremely triggering
