Honestly no TV show gives he nostalgia chills than the theme from 1990s onwards. For some reason as an adolescent aged 12-15 I got weirdly addicted to soaps in general, Neighbours, EastEnders and Grange Hill in particular, and the Grange Hill theme just encapsulates my feelings for the 90s in general, along with the Live and Kicking theme intro

I watched Grange Hill from 1988 (when I was 4) until 1998 (14), and then never watched it again. I had no idea it continued for another decade, and when I saw the 2008 return to the original, iconic theme tune... I honestly shed a tear!
When I think about it, I'm shocked Grange Hill hasn't been rebooted. It should never have ended: a secondary school soap is a fundamentally good idea, and Grange Hill constantly updated itself over its 30-year run. It needs to come back.

I started watching Grange Hill in probably about 88-89, but because of this the 90s theme music has always stuck with me more - the 88/89 title sequence was like the original title sequence was trying to say "We're still relevant dammit!" xD The 90s was more modern, more realistic/gritty visuals...the 2001/02 sequence was alright as well, but then came the retooling...overall, I'd grade the title sequences as follows:
    1978-1988 - A- (good solid effort)
    1988-1989 - C+ (could try harder)
    1990-1993 - A
(near-perfect, though I admit I'm very probably biased by my age)
1994-2000 - B+ (although this is the sequence I visualise whenever I think of the Grange Hill titles, I actually never liked it quite as much as its predecessor)
2001-2002 - B+ (another solid title sequence, bit heavy on all the blue and purple though...)
    2003 - D
(Um, not sure what to say here, this just looks lazy...)
    2004-2007 - B (Okay so it's old-school video-game style, but it's cheesy and kind-of fun imho)
    2008 - G (A graphic design student's fangasm, sorry)
I should add that although I started watching in about 1988, I kept watching right to the end (I was sad to see it get cancelled in 2008), and have watched and loved all the early years just as much. And I am LOVING that Eureka Entertainment seem to be releasing the entire run on DVD - can't wait for them to get to my childhood era in a couple more releases' time! :D

The 90's intros developed a 'Brookside at school" kind of vibe, I think. No coincidence, of course. Then it briefly became a bit Hollyoaks in the early 2000's. Again, the connection is obvious. And coincided with the fall of Brookside and the rise of Hollyoaks. Then it went back to its roots, firstly with the return to a more comic book style, albeit updated, and the welcome return of Sausage On A Fork. Before reverting to the old theme tune, when they knew it was to be the final series.

I honestly felt sad 😞 that Robbie Wright left Grange Hill in 1990 played by actress John Alford. He did 113 episodes in total 🟰 that happened between 1985 and 1990 is series 8 to 13. 😉

You can really feel the changes in the feel and tone. The original two sort of remind me of a classic old school where you have visions of naughty school boys being caned by the headteacher in his hat...
For me I grew up with the 90s version and it gave me a wierd feeling that high school was some sort of strange high glassed prison that we were all trapped in for 5 years, really made me not want to go to high school 😂

It’s so sad 😭 that Mrs Bridget McCluskey left Grange Hill in series 14 in 1991 after she had done ✅ 169 episodes from 1980 is series 4 to 1991 is series 14. Actress Gwyneth Powell died in September 2022 aged 76 years old. Mrs McCluskey is the second highest in episodes of Grange Hill. Mr Jeff Hankin played by actress Lee Cornes on Grange Hill is series 13 to 25 in the years 1990 to 2002. I honestly felt sad 😢😭😓 that Mr Hankin left Grange Hill in 2002. Perhaps 🤔 Grange Hill could be a thing of the past and might not come back again anymore. 🙂

The 90s intros were basically just filters and dutch angles, and the 2000s intros were just pure insanity and one attempt to pander towards gamers with a pretend Grange Hill video game that ironically looks pretty rubbish.

Quite an interesting reflection of the changes in societal attitudes that were starting to happen during the show's run. The early versions I think reflected the everyday reality of school life, with playground scraps and disciplinarian teachers, that most kids could probably relate to. Into the '90s there was a shift to a more progressive, idealistic tone with the kids actually - gasp - learning stuff! By the early 2000s they seem to have given up on all of that and spend the entire intro raving in some sort of drug addled haze... 🤷‍♂
