A well placed vital shot with a well sighted scope will drop any bear speaking from years of bear hunting experience. This outfitter just doesn't want to track wounded bears, and I don't blame him since most hunters going to guides tend to have terrible shots leaving guides to clean up the mess. Personally I wouldn't do the shoulder, I prefer the heart shot.
He's right....if you don't hit a bear in the front running gear they can go along way. And with the full winter coat a blood trail sometimes is no existent. Good video :)
That's where I like to shoot them too. Just makes sense. However I talked to very experienced hunters who like to shoot'em in the "the middle of the middle" and they swear a bow shot there will result in a quick kill. I only hit one farther back than I wanted ......he only went about 40 yards . That being said I still try to hit them in the heart
I am new to bear hunting, but wouldn't a well placed lung shot be better if you were absolutely sure of the shot? Do you lose a lot of meat with a shoulder shot?
I shot every big game on the shoulder and will drop dead. No walking and surfing. For who want to be smart ass hunter do whatever u want to do. But for the hunters want drop on the spot and ethical shot is front shoulder where to go. Please dont be silly and complain about couple inches of damage meat. You guys waist tons of meat while u cleaning. So stop and listen to this guy he know exactly what he is saying. Like I said b 4 , all big games. Same spot
