I wanted to save the wood for refinishing, so I wrapped the stock with one layer of currogated cardboard and duct tape. It came off easily with a few raps of a 3lb dead blow mallet. I alternated sides like you suggested. No marring of the wood and no black marks.Good video, thanks!
They should all be removable. Just put a wrench on the metal piece and turn the wood by hand back and forth until it loosens up. Mine took a lot of strength the first time.
WHMarms Yea thats what i was thinking i tried really hard with my hands to remove it but it didnt work so i stopped it thinking i was going to destroy it but i gotta try it again i guess

The wrench on the gas tube is a brilliant trick. Doing it by hand is immensely frustrating.

I really have problems with the wood cover on the gas tube. Is that removable on any ak? I have an old chinese type Ak-47 is it removable on any ak?

Bad butstock removal,lol,you damaged it. Flathad screwdriver behind rear trunion and voila,2 seconds and done
