      How sad is it that we've had nothing like it (besides Curbed) for two decades now?? In '98 we assumed there would be endless Seinfeld retreads, instead Friends was to be the annually repackaged model. Clearly studio heads believe Monica + Chandler + lots of candles trumps great satirical writing every time.

    • @optimisticwhovian1726
      @optimisticwhovian1726 Před 5 lety +5

      Because on the whole American sitcoms are very generic, and if you had this sort of sitcom all the time then Seinfeld wouldn't be known for what it is, this was written the way it was because Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld were outsiders, in house TV people wouldn't think to do this it needed an outsider to come in and flip the formula which is what this sitcom does. No morality tales, no friends forever tear jerker moments and focus on things sitcoms don't usually deal with, all things competitors fail to do. @@hd-xc2lz
