    You may need to bypass an older Club Cars OBC for various reasons. Lithium conversion, charger upgrades, charge and component failures. This video is a step by step guide on how to safely bypass the OBC.

    Thank you sir for the information about OBC ...

    This was very helpful. I just upgraded to the BB Eagles. Im using a club car IQ setup with a navitas AC conversion. Due to the Eagle plug not having a charger wire, its throwing an charger lock out error. I believe I should be able to jump these wires and eliminate that error. Much appreciated.

    it seemed really easy, thank you but now i have a question, I was going to leave the OCB in the cart, just because it wont get lost in there. Do all the wires have to be cut where i cut the the blue and white and spliced them together or can they stay and just splice the two together ?

    Quick question I have a 2005 club park president and I don't know what other wire goes to the run tow switch I see the pink wire and I have the blue wire with the diode in it but there is a red wire that cut coming from the same harness the pink wire comes from thanks

  • @sreno155

    Question - Why are you cutting and then splicing the blue and white wire together. Evidently, I may have a newer 2009 CC Precedent, where the OBC is mounted on the back firewall. I don't see that there is blue and white wire coming out of the OBC.

      I would bypass the OBC, drop the battery in and see if the cart operates normally. I think you're fine not to do the bypass.

    If your replacing charge receptacle with a 110v receptacle. Why can old receptacle just be tucked away in case owner wants to go back to lead acid?

  • @saveup41
    @saveup41 Před rokem

    I disconnected the OEM charge port. My BB Eagles have their own charger that plugs directly into the battery bank. I did not jump or bypass the OBC. Is controlling the charge the only purpose of the OBC?

  • @Strib420
    @Strib420 Před rokem +1

    Could you not connect the neg/control to the back of the receptacle and call it a day? I plan to leave the OBC in and make as few cuts/mods as possible.

    The blue wire with the little box, what is that? Is it a fuse?And how do you hook it up. Bought a project cart and not sure what that is or how to hook it up to lithium batteries.

    *QUESTION: Couldn't one just run a jumper wire from the charge receptacle to the negative terminal of the battery bank, bypassing the OBC without removing/clipping anything?* If the OBC is 'off' (not allowing charge through), but there is another path for the electricity to get to the batteries...then won't the batteries charge despite the rest of the system still being intact? Just seems like more work than is necessary.

      That's fair. Yours does look more clean and professional. I'm more of a "just plug in the seatbelt and sit on top of it to shut up the stupid seatbelt reminder chime" kind of guy.

    I have a 2007 Club car Carryall 2. I just installed AGM batteries. I bought a specific AGM charger that came with Club car style plug. Does my cart have the obc? Do I need to remove it?

  • @seangraham3419
    @seangraham3419 Před rokem

    This may sound dumb, but you said cap and insulate the other wires when you butted the blue and white. What did you use? Electrical tape? I googled it but it keeps sending me to wire nuts. I just did my obc bypass using your video except mine is on a DS. Just want to “cap and insulate” correctly.

    • @PalmettoBatteryPros
      @PalmettoBatteryPros  Před rokem

      You can use anything to secure the ends. I use heat shrink, but E tape will work just fine as long as it doesn’t come lose.

    What is an OBC and what is its function.

    • @PalmettoBatteryPros
      @PalmettoBatteryPros  Před 2 lety

      The OBC regulates the charge of the batteries. Its grounded at the controller and the positive goes to the battery bank to supply energy during charge cycles.

    Why are you bypassing the obc?

    • @PalmettoBatteryPros
      @PalmettoBatteryPros  Před 2 lety

      Various reasons. For lithium conversions it can be due to the system not grounding in some older carts. Mostly due to the replacement of the charging port to a receptacle that you just plug an extension cord into to activate the onboard charger. Other reasons can be things like upgrading to a smart charger or sometimes they fail and some people just bypass them.

    • @kenirving5268
      @kenirving5268 Před 2 lety +2

      We converted to lithium. Made no other changes. Seems to be working fine.

      Most of the battery brands do not require the OBC bypass. I recommend bypassing it.
